Search Based Applications (SBA)
Definition: Search based applications combine a Google like access to applications and data; state of the art capabilities to search across multiple sources, fields, and data types; guided navigation and interactions with the search results; and drill down capabilities to reports and BI tools.
Drivers for SBA: The key drivers are quick access to information in complex applications for field workers, e.g. police officers; requirements to search mixed content such as structured fields and text or memo fields in call centers, medical and law enforcement applications, field operations, etc.; reduce omissions of information, as in eDiscovery; reduce user training and maintenance of multiple application forms for information retrieval.
