Augmented Reality
In this 21st century the one thing that is constant is “Change” within a fraction of
second something around us is changing no doubt the one field that justify it is
Information and technology . Technology is improving at rapid pace, as many
things are possible today that were not possible 10 years ago even if we tried our
best to make it happen. Today, some of the impossible things are rising to the
occasion in the form of Augmented Reality. The field of Augmented Reality has
existed for just over one decade, but the growth and progress in the past few years
has been remarkable. As we all are very much familiar with the virtual reality
concept that it is about the creation of a virtual world that users can interact with.
This virtual world is designed in such a way that users find it difficult to tell the
difference between what is real and what is not. Furthermore, virtual reality is
usually achieved by the wearing of a virtual reality helmet or goggles
But when it comes to augmented reality the scenario is completely different,
augmented reality is a variation of virtual reality. As in virtual reality we have seen
that it completely immerse a user inside a synthetic environment. Due to which the
user cannot see the real world around him. In contrast, augmented reality allows
the user to see the real world, with virtual objects superimposed upon the real
world. Therefore, augmented reality supplements reality, rather than completely
replacing it. Ideally, it would appear to the user that the virtual and real objects
coexisted in the same space. So we can say it combine the real world with
computer-generated objects that appear to coexist in the same space as the real
world. Its properties are like-it combine real and virtual objects in a real
environment, runs interactively in real time and register real and virtual objects
with each other.
Augmented Reality enhances a user's perception of and interaction with the real
world. The virtual objects display information that the user cannot directly detect
with his own senses .And the reason why augmented reality is the new trend is
because of its applications in a wide range of fields like medical visualization,
maintenance and repair, annotation, robot path planning, entertainment, and
military aircraft navigation and targeting. For example a robotic operator uses a
visual image of the remote workspace to guide the robot. Annotation of the view
would be useful as it is when the scene is in front of the operator. Besides,
augmentation with wireframe drawings of structures in the view can facilitate
visualization of the remote 3D geometry.
34
Augmented Reality in a general context can be termed as Mixed Reality which
refers to a multi-axis spectrum of areas that cover virtual reality, augmented reality
and other related technologies. The basic technologies involved in it are display
tracking and registration. While designing an augmented system, three aspects
must be considered first the combination of real and virtual worlds, second the
interactivity in real time and third the registration in 3D. So this was all about
augmented reality with the help of which information about real world of the user
becomes interactive and can be manipulated digitally

ROLE OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION AND TECHNOLOGY
IN EDUCATION
Operational definition of terms information and communication technologies (ICT)
in this review article refers to the computer and internet connections used to handle
and communicate information for learning purpose.
FACILITIES WHAT ICT PROVIDES:-
E-learning:-
It is a learning program that makes use of an information network such as the
internet, an intranet (LAN) or extranet (WAN) whether wholly or in part, for
course delivery, interaction and/or facilitation. Web based learning is a subset of e-
learning and refers to learning using an internet browser such as Moodle,
blackboard and internet explorer.
Blended learning:-
It refers to learning models that combines the face-to-face class room practice with
e-learning solutions. For example a teacher may facilitate student learning in class
contact and uses the Moodle (modular object oriented learning environment) to
facilitate out of class learning.
Constructivism:-
It is a paradigm of learning that assumes learning as a process individuals
"construct" meaning or new knowledge based on their prior knowledge and
36
experience. Educators also call it the emerging pedagogy in contrast to the long
existing behaviorism view of learning.
Learner-centered learning environment:-
It is a learning environment that pays attention to knowledge, skills, and beliefs
that learners bring with them to the learning process where its impetus is derived
from a paradigm of learning called constructivism. In the context of this article, it
means student personal engagement to the learning task using the computer and or
the internet connection.

Virtual Firewall
A virtual firewall is a firewall device or service that provides network traffic
filtering and monitoring for virtual machines. A virtual firewall is deployed,
executed and operated from a virtual machine.
Virtual firewall formats include: Stand-alone software Integrated OS kernel
component. A virtual security provider's dedicated hardware platform. A virtual
firewall operates in a virtual area network (VAN) environment of connected virtual
machines. A virtual firewall operates in two different modes: Bridge mode: Like a
traditional firewall, this mode operates by diagnosing and monitoring all incoming
and outgoing traffic bound for other virtual networks or machines. Hypervisor
mode: In contrast, this mode is isolated from the actual network, resides in the core
hypervisor kernel and monitors the virtual host machine's incoming and outgoing
traffic.
Virtual Firewall Operation
Virtual firewalls can operate in different modes to provide security services,
depending on the point of deployment. Typically these are either bridge-mode or
hypervisor-mode (hypervisor-based, hypervisor-resident). Both may come shrink
wrapped as a virtual security appliance and may install a virtual machine for
management purposes.
A virtual firewall operating in bridge-mode acts like its physical-world firewall
analog; it sits in a strategic part of the network infrastructure — usually at an inter-
network virtual switch or bridge — and intercepts network traffic destined for
other network segments and needing to travel over the bridge. By examining the
source origin, the destination, the type of packet it is and even the payload the VF
can decide if the packet is to be allowed passage, dropped, rejected, or forwarded
or mirrored to some other device. Initial entrants into the virtual firewall field were
largely bridge-mode, and many offers retain this feature.
By contrast, a virtual firewall operating in hypervisor-mode is not actually part of
the virtual network at all, and as such has no physical-world device analog. A
hypervisor-mode virtual firewall resides in the virtual machine monitor or
hypervisor where it is well positioned to capture VM activity including packet
injections. The entire monitored VM and all its virtual hardware, software,
services, memory and storage can be examined, as can changes in these. Further,
since a hypervisor-based virtual firewall is not part of the network proper and is
not a virtual machine its functionality cannot be monitored in turn or altered by
38
users and software limited to running under a VM or having access only to the
virtualized network.
Bridge-mode virtual firewalls can be installed just as any other virtual machine in
the virtualized infrastructure. Since it is then a virtual machine itself, the
relationship of the VF to all the other VM may become complicated over time due
to VMs disappearing and appearing in random ways, migrating between different
physical hosts, or other uncoordinated changes allowed by the virtualized
infrastructure.
Hypervisor-mode virtual firewalls require a modification to the physical host
hypervisor kernel in order to install process hooks or modules allowing the virtual
firewall system access to VM information and direct access to the virtual network
switches and virtualized network interfaces moving packet traffic between VMs or
between VMs and the network gateway. The hypervisor-resident virtual firewall
can use the same hooks to then perform all the customary firewall functions like
packet inspection, dropping, and forwarding but without actually touching the
virtual network at any point. Hypervisor-mode virtual firewalls can be very much
faster than the same technology running in bridge-mode because they are not doing
packet inspection in a virtual machine, but rather from within the kernel at native
hardware speeds.
