Dear Engaged Couple,

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. I look forward to

helping you make your wedding at Our Lady of Perpetual Help

Church a beautiful and prayerful celebration of God’s love. Music is a

very important part of our worship and our sacramental celebrations.

St. Augustine said it so well: “Singing is for the one who loves.”

The musical offerings that are listed in this booklet are

suggestions. If you would like to have something sung or played that is

not on this list, feel free to contact me to discuss the possibility of using

it at your wedding. Please keep in mind that all music must be both sacred and appropriate

for the liturgy. This is in accord with both diocesan and universal church guidelines. Any

hymns found in our parish hymnal (Gather - 3rd edition) could be used.

The numbers before each of the titles correspond to the Wedding Music Planning

Sheet and also to the links to the recordings that can be found on our parish website,

www.olphlindenhurst.org. Please choose one selection per section. It is important that the

completed Planning Sheet be returned to the rectory at least three weeks before your

wedding.

Included in the music offering to the parish are the fees for the organist and one

cantor. If you are interested in having additional instrumentalists at your wedding, you

might consider hiring our “in house” professional musicians:

Trumpet John Brierly (631) 525-1580 [email protected]

Flute Joyce Reardon (631) 544-0529 [email protected]

We can also make recommendations for other instrumentalists or additional singers, as your

budget allows. On the recordings, you will hear a variety of instruments (organ, piano,

trumpet, flute) as well as a variety of voices from our parish cantors. If you have any special

requests, please let me know in advance.

We do not recommend that outside musicians and vocalists be asked to play or sing at

your wedding, particularly if they are not experienced with the Roman Catholic Liturgy. If

you desire to bring in a guest vocalist or instrumentalist, this must be approved in advance.

Please note that there will be a separate fee if rehearsal time is required with the organist.

If you have any questions about the music at your wedding, please contact me by

phone (631) 226-7725, ext. 210 or email [email protected]. God bless you as you continue

to make preparations not only for your wedding, but your new life as a married couple.

Sincerely,

Christopher Ferraro

So they may abide in union With each other and the Lord. And posess in blest communion, Joys which earth can not afford.

#3 - Set Your Heart on the Higher Gifts Steven Warner

1. If I speak with the tongues of the living, and of angels, but speak without love, I am only brass without song, an empty noise on the wind. 2. And if I understand every mystery, having wisdom, but think without love, had I faith to scatter the hills, I am nothing at all.
