  • TRAVELLING BETWEENCITIESThe Netherlands has an excellent railroad system. The

    best way to travel from Amsterdam Schiphol airport to Leiden and to all other major Dutch cities is by train.1 2

    follow the signs to the train station (located in the same building as the airport) and take a train from platform 5 or 6 that stops at Leiden Centraal.

    There are regular train services from Leiden to all other major Dutch cities:

  • TRAVELLING WITHIN CITIESMost Dutch cities are relatively small and so most places can easily be reached on foot. The Netherlands also has an excellent local public transportation.

    Leiden has a lot of local bus routes, and tickets can be bought from the driver on board. Information about bus ser-vices can be found athttp://www.9292.nl

    In Amsterdam, there are numerous tram services, and a metro. Informa-tion about them can also be found at this webpage.

  • WEDDING DAY

    After the ceremony, we will move to the upstairs room of De Poort restaurant for a meal and then a party. The restau-rant is located at Haven 100, next to the harbour. Chris and Carolina will guide the guests there from the city hall it is around a 25 minute walk.

    Please meet at the Breestraat entrance to the City Hall (i.e. on the opposite side of the city hall than Stadhuisplein), where Carolina and Chris will guide you on.

    The ceremony will last 30 minutes approximately.

    *We advise you to arrive 10 minutes early, as the Dutch are very punctual!

    The wedding ceremony will take place in the City Hall at 2.45pm* on Monday June 8th. The address is Stadhuisplein 1, in the historical centre of Leiden.

  • WEEKEND ACTIVITIES

    Meet at Leiden Centraal train station at 3pm for a trip to Amsterdam.

    At 7:30 pm we will meet with the guests who arrived later for drinks and a walk around the Red Light District.

    A Belgian beer-tasting activity in the afternoon in Leiden.

    We are organising some group activities on Saturday June 6th and Sunday June 7th. The details will (hopefully!) be finalised soon.

    THE LEIDSE LOPER WALK

    Leiden is quite a small city and is very pleasant to walk around. This walk will take you through some of the most historial sites in Leiden, including the Pieterskerk and Hoog-landsekerk churches, the birthplace of Rembrandt, and the old site of the university's physics department!     LEIDEN MARKET

    On Saturdays, there is a bustling market along the banks of the Oude Rijn canal (near the City Hall). This is a great place to try some traditional dutch food, like raw herring, caramel waes, or Dutch cheese. There is a smaller market at the same location on Wednesdays.

    BEACHES

    Leiden is quite close to the sea, and an ideal day trip is to hire bicycles and cycle to the beaches at Noordwijk and/or Katwijk, which are about 10km away.
