Wedding Venues

In Cyprus, you have the choice of celebrating your special day in many ways. Whether it is a civil or religious ceremony (Anglican or Catholic) or even a

renewal of vows, there are many wonderful ceremony locations from traditional town halls to historic chapels…. or even a beautiful service on the

beach.

If you would like to celebrate a religious ceremony, then please bear in mind that at least one of you has to have been baptised, and you will be required to

attend a meeting with the priest prior to the wedding.

Restating your love and commitment to each other with a service to renew

your vows is something more and more couples are choosing to do. Whether it is for a special anniversary, or just simply to express their love to each other,

there is no better place to do this, than with the warmth of the sun shining down on your assembled guests. A renewal of vows service can be celebrated

either through a religious ceremony (Anglican only), or a non-religious ceremony conducted by a Celebrant.

Eden Beach Venue

Located right on Makronisos Beach, and overlooking the golden sand and the

clear waters of the Mediterranean sea, The Eden Beach Venue is set in a

private area with lawns and a wonderful garden area with trees and palms.

This venue has a fully shaded sitting area for the guests .…and really is a

perfect setting...

All types of ceremonies can be performed here...including Civil Ceremonies, Anglican Church Ceremonies, Renewal of Vows and Blessings.

The Garden of Eden is also a well-established restaurant and so after your

wedding ceremony you can enjoy a cocktail reception and your wedding reception in the pretty gardens, the perfect end to the perfect day...!

Garden of Eden

The Garden of Eden is set in its own beautiful gardens creating a romantic atmosphere for your special day.

The 2000 sq metre garden area offers a private and relaxing

environment, with a small water fountain, patio bar, en-closed playground area, and friendly staff to welcome you and your guests to an intimate and

unique wedding experience. A decorated gazebo surrounded and secluded by the colours and perfumes of

the garden flowers is the perfect wedding venue for you to exchange your vows.

After your wedding ceremony you can enjoy a cocktail reception and your wedding reception in the surrounding gardens. A perfect day...!

Ayia Napa Municipality Venues

The resort of Ayia Napa has a range of venues available for celebrating your

special day….

Ayia Napa Town Hall can host civil weddings and is located in the centre of

the resort. The wedding room is air conditioned and has been very tastefully decorated with flowers and candles.

Ayios Epifanios is an orthodox church just outside of Ayia Napa where civil ceremonies can take place. This venue boasts a fixed canopy area which has

seating for 20 people with covered chairs, but there is also plenty of standing room for larger groups. The view from here is a panoramic view of the Ayia

Napa coastline as Ayios Epifanios sits high up inland. This is a stunning location.

The Ammos Beach is a sea coastal venue where civil ceremonies can take

place. This venue has a very romantic feel and is suitable for couples who dream of getting married on a fabulous beach with beautiful background

scenery. The venue itself is a small wooden structure and has fixed seating for

18 people.

Ayia Thekla Beach

Ayia Napa is blessed with some of the most beautiful sandy beaches in Cyprus,

and Ayia Thekla boast an excellent location on one of them. A wonderful golden sandy beach and a great setting for any wedding.

Terra Santa Catholic Church

The impressive Terra Santa Church is dedicated to St Mary of Graces (Santa

Maria delle Grazie) and was built in 1842. This striking Catholic Church is

located in the heart of Larnaca, near to the promenade, and has a splendid interior with ornate gilding, a vaulted ceiling and a marble bust made in

Tuscany, Italy. A truly beautiful setting for your religious wedding. Many couples staying in Ayia Napa choose this beautiful church for their Catholic

wedding, as it is only a short journey to Larnaca. The Latin style of Terra Santa Church is of the finest in Cyprus with Renaissance and Baroque characteristics

The following ceremony cost includes wedding license, civil ceremony

and minister fees.

St Helena’s Church (Anglican)

St Helena's is a pretty, whitewashed church located close to Larnaca Town.

This modest Anglican Church, named after St Helena, the Mother of Constantine the Great, has a colourful stained glass window and its interior has

a traditional feel, perfect for religious ceremonies. The outside of the church can be captured from the church's courtyard in your wedding photography.

The following ceremony cost includes wedding license and minister

fees. The Anglican Church requires a deposit at time of booking to

secure the wedding date.

Documentation There are a number of documents that you will need to arrange and bring to

Cyprus and we have provided a guide summary below. This paperwork is extremely important, so please feel free to contact us to clarify any points you

are unsure of.

Once you have booked your wedding with us, we will supply you well in

advance, with full details in writing of all the necessary procedures and documents required for all types of weddings, to ensure that all of our couples

comply with the necessary regulations. We also advise you to send us copies of your paperwork to check before you

bring all original documents to Cyprus. We will even send you a reminder letter 3 months before your wedding…..

Minimum period of residency is 3 working days for a civil wedding and 5

working days for a religious ceremony

10 year British Passport required. (Non British passport holders should contact

us prior to booking, to establish correct paperwork requirements.)

Full original copies of A4 birth certificates with both parent’s name

Certificate of freedom to marry, or Certificate of No Impediment if you are

resident in Scotland or Wales (Affadavit). This document is valid for 3 months

only, so you will need to obtain this less than three months before your wedding. It must be prepared by a registered UK solicitor, a Notary Public or a

Commissioner of Oaths, and must be issued on Solicitors letter headed paper, clearly showing the name and stamp of the practice. If prepared by a Notary Public or Commissioner of Oaths, it must have a wax seal. We advise you to

send copies of your Affidavit to us to check that they are correct before travelling to resort.

Please note that if you are a non-British passport holder, you must seek advice and permission from the relevant embassy to be issued with a freedom to marry certificate that has been apostiled.

IF DIVORCED - Original of the Decree Absolut

IF WIDOWED - Spouse’s original death certificate as well as their previous

marriage certificate.

IF ADOPTED - Proof of adoption. The original documents are required signed

and stamped by a solicitor.

If you have changed your name by deed poll, or are known by a different name

or have had your name altered in any way – legal proof is required.

Parental consent required in the form of an affidavit stamped by a notary (if

under 18 years old) .This must be supplied before the wedding is booked.

Copies of witness passports (over 18 years of age) – couples are required to

bring these so they can be added to the wedding license form

FOR ANGLICAN WEDDINGS/BLESSINGS – A copy of the certificate of

baptism and name and address of local Parish Priest.

CATHOLIC WEDDINGS - In addition to the legal documents above, the bride

and groom will also need to take their baptism certificate. The couple will have to complete, amongst other things, a pre marriage course at home which

should have started at least 6 months before the wedding. Also, please note, that a catholic wedding service must be preceded by a civil wedding in order to be legally recognised.

Your Wedding Co-ordinator will explain all the legal procedures at your first

meeting, and will make the necessary appointments for you to register for and obtain the special licenses that authorises your wedding to take place during

your stay, whether you are having a Civil or Religious ceremony. However, you have probably got all kinds of questions, so we have tried to make things as

simple and seamless as possible by putting together some frequently asked questions for you…

We will make sure you arrive with all the necessary documents to meet the legal requirements of marrying in Cyprus. We have also obtained some

competitive prices for those extra special touches that will make all the difference to your Wedding Day: the wedding cake, flowers, photographer, and

anything else you have on your wish list.

To help you decide which special touches you would like us to arrange for your

Wedding Photography

Your wedding photography will be one of the most important things you choose for your special day. Your beautiful flowers will eventually fade, your

tasty wedding cake will be eaten, but your photos will last for ever.... The same can be said for a DVD of your wedding ceremony, perfect for those loved

ones who could not make your wedding and it is amazing to look back at in years to come. Plus there will be many things that the couple do not notice or

remember about their day as they were so nervous and excited! When it comes to photographs of your big day we know that these will be

memories you will cherish forever. We have a fantastic team of photographers in Cyprus who we have worked with for many years. We have seen couples

moved to tears and speechless when they see their wedding photos for the

first time. You will never have a second chance to re-capture those precious moments...

Our professional photographers will greet you at your wedding venue, and be with you during and after the ceremony ensuring that they capture the best

Flowers and Decorations

Flowers - no wedding is complete without them. From rose petals scattered by

a flower girl, to the beautiful bridal bouquet. If you are not sure what flowers you would like, we will give you practical advice and inspire you to choose

flowers that suit your style. If you have a specific flower or idea in mind, it is

best to let us know at least 2 weeks before you arrive, as we will need to check the flower you requested is available at that time of year and also give

our florists sufficient time to order for your wedding. If you have pictures of wedding flowers that you like, it is a great idea to send them to us, so we have

an idea of what you have in mind. If you are not sure what flowers you would like, contact us for ideas or, if you prefer, you can wait until you arrive in

Cyprus and discuss with your Wedding Coordinator, who can advise you what flowers are available. We can arrange an extensive range of bridal and

bridesmaids bouquets as well as other ideas for all of the wedding party, including:

Every bride wants to look perfect on her wedding day, and we believe it is best

to get your wedding hair and make-up done by a professional. With all the

other things you have to think about on your special day, the job of making you look your most beautiful is well worth being delegated to an experienced

wedding stylist.

Professionally applied make-up will help complete the look you spent so long

putting together. Experienced make-up artists and hair stylists, with a professional photographer, can produce amazing results in your wedding

photographs.

Hair can be adversely affected by the very high humidity in Cyprus, a professional hair stylist will ensure your wedding hair will stay in place all day

and will advise you of the best styles for your hair type and dress, whilst of course, taking your choices into consideration.

Our stylists can meet you for a consultation before your wedding, to discuss in full all your ideas and requirements, you can bring pictures of styles that you

like if you want to, but our stylists will show you photos of their work so you can see the excellent standard and also get some ideas to help you choose

your look for the day. We normally say it is not necessary to have a trial, as our stylists will not leave until you are 100% happy with the results on the

day, but if you would prefer to have a trial, that can be arranged for you, for a small fee, to put your mind at rest.

Our stylists will come to your room on your wedding day, so you can relax, in the cool air conditioning and begin your wedding day preparations, perhaps

with a bottle of bubbly! The bride and bridal party being pampered together is

a great way to start your day and will give you a chance to spend some quality time together before the wedding. It is a perfect way to settle nerves whilst

you unwind in the experienced hands of a dedicated team.

A spectacular wedding cake truly is the cherry on top of your special day.

Choose from traditional and classic to contemporary and modern, styles that really will be the icing on the cake! Our standard wedding cakes come in

different flavours including flavoured sponges, chocolate brownie and fruit cake. They are all finished with white icing, so they look like a traditional

wedding cake. As an alternative why not serve beautifully designed cupcakes choosing varied flavours and decoration for each cupcake? Choose from simple

designs, to elaborate multi-tiered masterpieces, from a custom-made cake to a tower of profiteroles. If you have a design in mind, please send us a picture

and we will be pleased to give you a quote. Whatever your preference, wedding cakes can be contemporary and elegant,

Garden of Eden The menus at the Garden of Eden are carefully prepared and include well known and loved dishes both local and international. The quality of the food and service

comes from many years of experience in the restaurant business and also catering for wedding parties, large and small.

The Garden of Eden will do everything possible to surpass your expectations for your wedding reception, so you can relax and enjoy your celebrations with your loved

ones. As you will have your own private area for your meal and drinks, you can also arrange a DJ or any other entertainment you may like to have.

ribbons at the colours you choose. Price also covers the whole organization of the Reception i.e. guests arrival, Bride’s and Groom’s arrival and welcoming, Speeches, First Dance with your favourite song and everything else needed for a Memorable

Wedding Reception. Your Reception area is always private and away from the other guests – there is no

extra charge for the use of the area and also no time limit for its use.

Frequently Asked Questions We have put together some of the most frequently asked questions,

which we hope will help you in your plans to marry in Cyprus. If you do not find the answer to any questions you may have, please contact

us at the Makronisos Holiday Village and we will be more than happy to help you!

Will our wedding be legally recognised in the UK? Yes, your marriage will be recognized by British Law. Catholic weddings must be preceded by a Civil Ceremony in resort to make it legal in

the UK, although the Catholic wedding will be recognized by the Catholic Church. The Civil service and the Catholic service will be arranged by us at the Makronisos Holiday

Village.

How early must we book our wedding? We recommend that you book your wedding as soon as possible as we then have a greater chance of confirming your preferred date, time and venue. In Cyprus there is

no minimum notice, as long as holiday dates and wedding dates are available (with the exception of Catholic ceremonies where at least six months’ notice would be

advisable due to the Catholic paperwork required).

What paperwork do we need to arrange? There are a number of documents that you will need to take with you in order to get

married in Cyprus, please see our list of documents required, but do not hesitate to contact us to clarify any parts you are unsure of. Once you have booked your wedding with us we will send you information on what paperwork you will need and we also

send you a reminder letter re your paperwork, approximately 3 months before you travel.

Can I get married in Cyprus if I have been divorced? Yes, as long as you can provide legal proof i.e. original Decree Absolute. The only exception to this is Catholic weddings, as the Catholic Church will not marry divorcees.

When will the date and time of my wedding be confirmed? As soon as you book your accommodation and wedding with us at the Makronisos Holiday Village, we will be able start the process and should be able to confirm your

date, time and venue within two weeks of you booking.

Do you arrange Blessings / Renewal of Vows? Yes, we do. Anglican Renewal of Vows / Blessings are becoming increasingly popular,

contact us for more details.

Do we need witnesses and can our Olympic Wedding Coordinator act

as witness? Yes, you will need 2 witnesses over 18 years of age; you may have family members

as witnesses. If you are travelling alone and require us to arrange witnesses we can of course do this for you. Please let us know prior to your departure, so we can

arrange this for you.

Can you organise the wedding reception for us? All receptions are booked with the Garden of Eden Restaurant, and wide selections of

menus are available to choose from.

How do we choose a photographer for our wedding? We can help you with this very important decision! We have worked with our fantastic

photographers for years and are more than happy with their work. We understand that photography is probably the most important aspect of your day, as you will have your photos for years to come. This is why we have chosen a great team of

photographers for you

How do I go about arranging hair, make up and nails for my wedding? We have sourced highly recommended hairdressers and beauticians who we have

worked with for many years. Once you have decided your requirements for your wedding day our Wedding Coordinators will make all the necessary appointments for you.

Can you also help us with our wedding flowers? We can of course help you with the flowers for your wedding day, we have some standard flowers that can be booked but if you have specific ideas of what you would

like, or would like more ideas on what is available, please contact us. In Cyprus for most of the summer season, flowers are imported to all florists from Holland, so we

delighted with your wedding bouquets.

What will our cake be like? A standard cake in Cyprus will be sponge decorated with white icing. However, any

flavour or style of cakes can be arranged, including the increasingly popular cupcakes, if we are given a little notice we can arrange whatever you like!

Will a separate room be provided for the bride or groom to change into their wedding outfits on the day, so they do not see each other? Subject to availability the hotel may make a separate room available for the bride or groom to change into their wedding outfit. There may be an additional charge for this

facility and it cannot be guaranteed, especially during peak season.

What signature does the bride sign in on the marriage certificate? When signing the marriage certificate the bride should sign in her maiden name.

Can we get an extra copy of our marriage certificate? A Certified Copy of your marriage certificate can be arranged for an additional cost of approx €15 and will need to be ordered before the ceremony. We

strongly recommend this, particularly for brides planning to change their surname, as they will need to send off their marriage license to make the name changes and photocopies are never accepted. You can order as many certified copies as you need.

What happens when we arrive at the Makronisos Holiday Village? The first thing that happens is a meeting with your personal Wedding Coordinator, the date and time of which you will find in a Welcome Letter, which will be handed to you

on arrival to the hotel. During your first meeting, your Wedding Coordinator will discuss all aspects of your

Wedding with you and answer any questions you may have. She will then be with you

throughout your wedding plans, the big day itself and will be on hand right up until the time you leave Cyprus.

If we book for next year, will you still be able to give us the correct

prices? Most wedding venues will have their prices ready for the following year, this also

applies to our suppliers (florists, photographers etc). We will always endeavour to give you the most up to date prices, but cannot guarantee that certain prices will not change between booking and arriving in resort, of course, if we are advised of any

changes we will let you know. All prices quoted on this website are approximate and correct at the time of publication.
