JULY JUNE "COMING SOON…" Anyone who has ever been to a movie theatre knows the great “joy” of purchasing not only an overpriced movie cket, but also a highly overpriced bucket of buered popcorn, paying approximately forty cents more to upgrade from a small to medium soda, and let’s not forget the bag of red Twizzlers to top it off. Aſter you find your seat, you begin to chow down on the popcorn and watch a handful of previews. Subsequently, we’ve all heard the famous words aſter the previews “Coming Soon” or “Coming soon to a movie theatre near you.” I’ve also been hearing these words “Coming Soon” as I’m excited about our new worship banners which hang up in our beauful sanctuary. Despite Mrs. Lee and Mrs. Pat having a more difficult year in their health, I’ve had the joy to see these faithful and hardworking ladies sll persevering as they have lile by lile finished a new set of banners for this liturgical season. Both Kathi and I have had the great privilege to see these two ladies quietly and humbly enter the church to work on the banners, and less than a few minutes later hear them laughing and having a good me working on the banners in the church kitchen. Like myself, if you want to know a lile more about the history of our worship banners this interview is for you! The following is a queson and answer with both Mrs. Lee and Mrs. Pat: When and what was the first worship banner made? Bey Latham and we completed the first banner over 20 or 25 years ago when we were at the McGregor locaon. How long does it take to make a banner? It usually takes a year or more to make one set consisng of 5 pieces: 2 sides, communion, under the bapstery, and pulpit) How much does it cost to complete a banner? It costs approximately $200 and we receive funds from the CWF (Chrisan Women Fellowship) and Scrubbies funds. What kind of material is used on the banner? The materials for the banners are coon fabric, lamé, ribbon, braid, bang, pearls, and a rod for support. How do you come up with the designs? We receive paerns from books, internet, and some off the top of our head- like the last one! What is your favorite banner and why? We both like the Advent (Christmas) banner set the best. This banner set has the town of Bethlehem and an angel blowing a trumpet on them. They remind us of a happy me! Can you briefly describe the process of making a banner? Select colors, obtain paern, buy fabric, cut designs, stch and appliqué design, put in quilt bang by hand, and bind edges. What can we expect to see in our new banner? The new banner is green with a mul-color window into God’s world. The queson many people want to know. Is this the last banner by Lee and Pat Company? Yes. MUSICAL NOTES

Asya Teruni

During the month of June, as Trinitarians, those who

believe in the One-Triune God, we are going to discuss

a topic most mainline churches don’t touch. Deep in

our Judeo-Christian background, we spend time

talking about God the Father. As Christians, we

confess Jesus is Savior and Lord of our lives.

However; there is a temptation to either neglect, or not

expound on the Holy Spirit, or back in the day, we

would say Holy Ghost. If you want to know more

about God as Spirit, and what this means for our lives,

please join us in the month of June.

Afterwards in the month of July, we will celebrate a

handful of events. First, there will be a sermon on

freedom during the week of July 4. Subsequently, we

will close down the month with another Hymn Sing on

the 5th Sunday, July 31! Once again, please come

prepared to bring your favorite classic hymns and we

will sing them at the end of worship.

COMING JUNE 1

WEEKDAY PRAYER SERVICE

Let’s try something new at FMCC. I’ve heard before

that worship is the heartbeat of a church, and it’s the

primary way God warms and transforms our

hearts. During the month of June, on Wednesdays

from 10-10:15am, there will be a brief prayer service

which our very own Barbara Jones who will be

accompany us on the piano. This will be a time of

Scripture, liturgy, prayer, music, and mediation.

Afterwards there will be a time of fellowship with

coffee and light snacks. So if you miss a Sunday

morning or if you just want to dive deeper with God,

we want to encourage you, as well as a friend, to join

us on Wednesdays!

We celebrated Pastor Zach’s 2 year pastoral

anniversary with our church family. His father, sister,

and nieces joined him in Florida this week.

Words of Sympathy and Acts of Compassion

FROM THE MODERATOR

I am excited about the new

model for our ministries called "Hands

of Christ," which had its first meeting

on May 26, for several reasons.

The first is that we hope it will be

a more efficient utilization of the

energies of those who work to advance

the work of FMCC. In attending various meetings of

ministry teams in the past I have noticed that about

75% of those in attendance were the same at most

different meetings. It is special that so many

members are involved in various activities, but with

one quarterly meeting of all key programs, it will

eliminate too frequent meetings.

The second advantage to this approach is that

we all can be aware of what other areas are involved

in - and we can "pick the brains" of more people to

move us forward. There is a great deal of talent and

intelligence within our church; our potential is almost

limitless.

For our friends who have lost family members ~

Mary Kensinger, who passed away on May

7. A celebration of life was held at FMCC

on May 13. Until the most recent years of

declining health, Mary was involved not

only in the weekly Bible studies, but also in

the leadership of the church as a deacon

and Financial Secretary. She enjoyed her

days playing Hand & Foot with the

Sonshine Card ladies. She was another set

of helping hands at the rummage sale, luminary prep, and

folding bulletins. She will be greatly missed.

POT LUCK

There have been a couple of

instances where doors have been

found to be unlocked in the fellowship

hall. Please! Please! try to be double

sure that all doors are secured when

you leave the buildings. We have not

had any problems as a result, but this

is an avoidable situation.

Thanks to everyone for your help with this.

Thanks,

~Bill Brainard

Thank you all for your prayers for my niece Holly, her

surgery went well but that’s all we know right now. I also

appreciate the many cards I received on my brothers’

passing. We have such a caring congregation; I love you

all. ~Cora Armstrong

To our friends at FMCC ~

Kenny, Debbie, and I want to thank each of you for your

many acts of kindness and compassion leading up to and

upon the passing of Mary. This church family truly stands

out as the hands of Jesus. Pastor Zach’s presence

throughout these last 2 years and most especially during

the last week of Mary’s life were an immense comfort and

source of strength. Hildur’s & Shirley’s visits along with

fellow elders were meaningful to Mary as well.

Tara, of Lehigh Acres, FL, recently

lost her home and all its

possessions in a house fire. The

FMCC family gave financial aid

through Guardian Angel fund as

well as private physical donations to help her in

this time of need. Below is a note of thanks...

A note from Tara~

Thank you all for your

prayers, donations, and

contributions to myself

and my family. Right

after the fire happened I

was in a total state of

shock. For 2 days I was

pretty much devastated

and in tears, but then I

remembered that I am a

child of The Almighty God and HE wouldn't

leave me and the kids in a bad way, I

immediately felt a peace like everything would

ne alright. I am thankful to say within a few

days God sent me Shirley Fizer and she was

determined to help us get past this. After only

two weeks of losing everything we owned, we

moved into a new neighborhood the kids and I

love. We are in the process of getting back on

our feet and we are all getting on well. Through

this experience I learned to keep looking forward

with faith instead of back at what was because

God will always make a way! Thank you all and

God bless.

GROUP MINISTRY TEAM UPDATE

FROM PASTOR ZACH

HANDS OF CHRIST MINISTRIES

This past Thursday we had over 20 people who

gathered for an evening of fellowship and lots of

planning. At first we might appear to be a small

church; it’s quite amazing the impact our faithful

congregation makes in the community year after

year. Although we always want to be moving

forward and recognizing God’s promise to Isaiah

and us still today, in “doing a new thing” (Isaiah

43:19), I personally enjoyed listening to others

and reviewed how God is empowering and using

our church for Kingdom work. I believe the

future looks bright as we not only continue to do

faithful ministry from the past, but also begin

processing and implementing them, and not being

afraid to fail! I want to give Dean, the entire

executive committee, and our dedicated church

secretary, Kathi, special thanks for all their help

as we put this new approach for efficiency and

effectiveness in our ministry teams in action.

There are sign-up sheets where you can plug in

and work with other team members in the areas of

Outreach, Congregational Life, Evangelism, and

Communications.

One of the ideas resurrected last night was the

need among our folks for transportation to

medical appointments, grocery store, airport, as

well as other necessary trips ~

If you are in need of a little extra help with

transportation please call

Bob Milligan 239-466-7589 or

Shirley Fizer 239-910-0916

for a ride.
