The News-Democrat

After a Friday night loss on the road to dis-trict foe Gallatin County, the Panthers baseball team split a doubleheader Saturday at Walton-Verona, putting them at 6-6 on the season.

Carroll struggled to put the bat on the ball against the Wildcats, managing

just one hit in the game – a bunt single by Chase Osborne.

Head coach Josh Mefford said his team had poor pitch selection against Gallatin pitcher Brady Lawrence, who struck out three and walked three in a complete game.

The Panthers opened their day Saturday against Bowsher High School, from Ohio. Mefford said

fielding errors led to two runs in the first inning for Bowsher. They tacked on three more in the fourth and one each in the sixth and seventh, 7-0.

But the Panthers did not give up. They scored one run in the sixth and two more in the seventh to put the final score at 7-3.
