SAT vs. ACT

All colleges accept both the ACT and the SAT Science: on ACT but not SAT: Science questions intended to
test reading and critical thinking skills more than in depth questions about science.
Writing: Both the SAT and ACT include an essay; SAT imbedded into test whereas you have to sign up for the writing for ACT
Scoring: Each section of the SAT is scored on a scale of 200 to 800 with 2400 being the highest possible combined score. The ACT, on the other hand, scores each section on a scale of 1 to 36
Regardless of which test you take, or if you take both, prepare! There are free resources and prep books, classroom and online courses, or tutoring programs available to you

If you need a letter from your counselor be prepared to:Bring a “Brag Sheet” outlining:
Strengths Outstanding characteristics Academic and other awards Community service/volunteer work Extracurricular activities (sports, clubs, leadership) Unique personal circumstances Work Experience
You may also request letters from teachers, church or community leaders, or the vice president, or C.E.O.
