3.1 Wind Utilization

•Wind utilization is a technology that aims to reduce cooling energy consumption and improve comfort, by actively introducing outdoor air into the building through cross ventilation when weather condition are effective

Page 36: week 1

Purpose and key points of wind utilization1. wind utilization is a technology that aims to realize a pleasant

indoor thermal environment and reduce cooling energy consumption without relying too much on air conditioning through active introduction of outdoor air into the building and heat exhaust to outside

2. The possibility of wind utilization largely depend on the region and surrounding environment (trees, building, fence and any other obstruction will affect the wind flow to the house)

Page 37: week 1

Purpose and key points of wind utilization..(2)3. An entrance and exist for the air are required to effectively introduce outside air into the building

4. The use of landscaping ingenuity to block solar radiation, such as planting tree around the house can keep down the temperature of wind introduce to the room

Page 38: week 1

Purpose and key points of wind utilization5. Wind utilization technology consist of methods for contriving building shape and floor plans, and landscaping planning as well as methods for contriving the position, shapes and opening and closing operation of opening

6. the prerequisites of this technology is that the occupants appropriately open the openings

7. It is necessary to use opening parts with high wind resistance in the preparation for storm.
