While you are self-isolating at home please have a go at the following fun activities. These activities will help support your child and ensure that they are accessing the prime areas of learning within the Year 1 curriculum and continuing their learning journey. Please bring in any evidence when you return to school so that we can share this with your child. Week 1 Da y 1 English Look outside in the garden or on a walk. What objects do you have around the hosue to use as instruments? e.g. rice in a bottle/ spoons on a saucepan. Can you compose a section of your favourite movie or book? Think about whether you need loud or quiet sounds?

    Continuing to think about the autumn objects and the senses you learnt about yesterday- can you write

    sentences?

    e.g. I can hear crunchy rusty leaves under my wellies.

    Remember full stops, capital letters and finger spaces!

    Recap the sounds you have learnt this week. Can you have a go at spelling one from each sound? e.g. soap, snow,

    king, think?

    Maths

    Can you set up a shop for your parents or siblings? You must have items that are up to 10p. You may only buy 2

    items at a time in the shop. Try and calculate the amounts that you would have.

    Fine Motor Can you draw round some autumn leaves? Try and cut them out with your scissors! Art Can you make a collage of some items you may find in the garden or on a walk? What picture could you recreate? Whjat about your favourite Disney character?

  • Week 2

    Day 1 English

    Choose your favourite Disney movie. Who are the characters in the movie? Can you draw a

    picture to support the story you have chosen. Try and include the setting and characters.

    Can you add words to describe the setting or characters? You can add these to your picture!

    Phonics

    Remind yourself of the Disney story you have chosen. Can you create or use figures/ toys to

    reinact the story. Focus on the verbal retell. Perhaps you could record yourself telling the

    story for us to see?

    a go at writing it.

    Think carefully about what happens in the beginning, middle and end. You could draw a story

    map and add notes to help you plan and prepare.

    See how many Tricky words you can recognise. Pick 4 you are not familiar with. Write them in colourful letters and put up around the hosue. If a grown up says a word can you run to the right one?

    Write the story of you favourite Dinsey movie! You can change little details if you like to

    make it your own. You can also retell it if needed.

    Remmeber the correct punctuation!

    sound? e.g. pure, fair, diver?

    Maths

    Can you set up a shop for your parents or siblings? You must have items that are up to 10p.

    Can you work out wehat the change would be if you bought one item and had 10p?

    Fine Motor Can you draw round some cutlery or baking cutters? Have a go at cutting them out with your scissors!
