Hounds

vs.

2013 Results: The Hounds and Launch (formerly the Nationals) split the series 1-1

All-Time Series: The Launch leads the series 3-2

Last Meeting: These two teams first met during Week 2 down in Baca Raton, where the Launch came away with an 11-8 victory. The teams were tied going in to halftime and going in to the final quarter. But

the Launch rattled off three goals to open the fourth, and the Hounds weren’t able to recover. The Hounds had the upper hand in SOG (26-22), groundballs (22-18) and faceoffs (15-23). But goaltending proved to be the difference, as the Launch’s Brett Queener recorded a 69.2 SV% compared to Pierce Bassett’s 50.0 SV%. The Launch also were 1-2 on the power play, while the Hounds went 0-2. Of the

Hounds’ eight goals, only two came off of assists. The Launch recorded five assists on 11 goals. Anything could happen this week though, as each team’s roster has been shuffled following the completion of

both the NLL and NCAA seasons.

HOUNDS

The Hounds last week not only got back in the Win

column, but snapped the Outlaws 25 game regular-

season win streak in the process. The Hounds jumped

out to an early 3-1 lead, and were able to keep a 9-9

tie heading in to halftime. The second half was a

thrilling back-and-forth affair, but two goals each

from Ryan Young and John Haus – plus a 2-pointer

from Mason Poli – proved to be the difference as the

Hounds propelled themselves to an 18-15 victory. The

18 points are a season-high for the Hounds, and

included eight different goal-scorers. Adam

Ghitelman made 12 saves on 26 shots, while Tim

Fallon was 18-35 at the X. The scoring jolt also can be

partially credited to improved play at the faceoff

wing.

Players To Watch

Mike Chanenchuk (M) – The rookie tallied two goals in his MLL debut against the Outlaws.

Josh Hawkins (M) – The middie last week scored two goals for the second time in three games.

John Haus (M) – He leads the Hounds with 10 points after recording five against the Outlaws in Week 6.

LAUNCH

After dropping their Week 5 game to the Rattlers 18-

11, the Launch rebounded with an 11-8 victory over

the Lizards. The Launch built a three-goal lead early in

the game, and it was just enough to carry them

through to the end. Rookie Kieran McArdle carried

the team with four goals and one assist. The Lizards

won the faceoff (12-22) and groundball (29-21)

battles, but Queener kept the Launch in the game

with 14 saves on 22 shots. In addition, many of

Queener’s saves led to quick goals in transition for the

Launch, which is something that could cause trouble

for the Hounds.

Players To Watch

Casey Powell (A) – The veteran leads all MLL players with 29 points, five of which came against the Hounds

in Week 2.

Brett Queener (G) – He enters Week 7 with the MLL’s second-best save percentage at 58.9%, despite having

a seventh-best goals against average of 11.21.

Joe Cinosky (D) – The former Hound is coming off a performance against the Lizards that earned him

Defensive Player of the Week honors.

NOTEWORTHY – June 14, 2014

HEY NOW, YOU’RE AN ALL-STAR: MLL this week announced the 24 players named to the All-Star roster, including Hounds Matt Danowski, Kevin Drew, Ryan Flanagan and Brett Schmidt. It

will be Danowski’s fifth All-Star appearance, Drew’s first, Flanagan’s third and Schmidt’s second.

SPOILER ALERT: For the second time in two seasons, the Hounds spoiled the Outlaws’ bid for

an undefeated season. In the ’13 semifinals the Hounds topped the 14-0 Outlaws by a score of 17-14, and last week topped the then 5-0 Outlaws by a score of 18-15.

JUST IN TIME: Attack Justin Ward was named the MLL Cascade Rookie of the Week following

his four point performance (1g, 3a) in Week 6. Ward in two games – both against the top-ranked Outlaws – has racked up eight points (2g, 3a), which ranks him third on the Hounds’

roster.

MILESTONE MOMENTS: Midfielder Mike Chanenchuk last week in his pro debut scored the first – and second – goals of his MLL career.

NO SIGN OF A SOPHOMORE SLUMP: Five of the Hounds’ top eight scorers this season are

second-year players -- John Haus (10pts), Mike Sawyer (9pts), Mason Poli (7pts), Jake Tripucka (6pts) and Josh Hawkins (5pts).

DINO-MYTE: Matt Danowski needs just two more goals to hit the 150 mark for his career

(including the postseason). The attackman also is just eight assists away from reaching 100.

GOING STREAKING: Ryan Young enters Week 7 riding a 23-game streak of recording at least one point, dating back to Aug. 11, 2012 (including the postseason).

DOUBLE TROUBLE: The Hounds and Outlaws are tied for most 2-point goals in the league with four each. Additionally, the Hounds are one of three teams to have allowed only a singular 2-

point goal.
