Week 8 – 5th December 2018 Sharing Our News
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our amazing P&C
for the contributions and support they have made to our
school. It has been wonderful to work cohesively with such an
enthusiastic group of parents who are dedicated in broadening
the opportunities for our students. Well done to all involved
and we look forward to working with you all again in the new
year.
A huge congratulations to all of our students who were elected
as House Captains for 2019. This is a huge honour and an
amazing opportunity to lead your team at each of the athletics,
swimming and cross country carnivals. All leaders for 2019
will be presented with their badges on presentation day.
Our volunteers play a huge part in the successes of our
school and we would like to acknowledge all of the
contributions that they have made to support our students,
teachers and the school throughout the year. Invitations have
been sent out to the parents and helpers and the school would
like to treat you all to a morning tea on Tuesday 11th
December at 11.15am in the hall. Our helpers and volunteers
are more than welcome to stay and watch our drumming
performance by our primary students from 12noon in the hall.
Next Wednesday evening is our school concert. All classes
have been working hard and polishing up on their singing,
dancing and playing skills to perform for everyone.
The evening has an Australian theme and we look forward to
performing to our school community. We hope you all enjoy
the show.
Teachers are in the completion stages of your child's reports.
Reports will be distributed to students on Friday 14th
December following the Presentation Day. Please sit down
with your child and discuss the successes and improvements
needed for your child to keep growing with their learning.

Robogals
Year 5 students attended a free workshop brought to
us by Newcastle University Robogals and Peabody.
Students were able to code, work with robots, and
were spoken to by representatives from Peabody
who brought their drone along for some informative
fun.
Students were very excited and intrigued by what
was on show.
Last Day of Swimming
Last Friday was our last day for Stage 2 and 3
swimming lessons.
This lesson was a particularly important one being
the students ‘survival’ lesson- how to survive in the
water fully clothed. All our students put in so much
effort and were very enthusiastic this lesson. After
that, everyone enjoyed some fun on the floating
obstacle.

Stranded Stage 2 students have been working on writing more interesting descriptions using similes,
metaphors and powerful adjectives. Here is a few samples of their hard work.
Clouds as white as snow drifted thorough the sky while the rainbow over the ocean
shimmered like a thousand diamonds. Trees as green as the grass danced with the wind
as it picks up the sand and drifted it off into the misty blue sky.
Tesha S2S
The beautiful rainbow shone over the ocean as magnificently as a sun radiating bright like
a torch. As the trees moved softly in the wind the yellowy-orange sand blew away. The
clouds flew through the sky like rainbow balloons so colourful that I couldn’t take my eyes
off them.
Zeb S2S
The sky drifted around me slowly so beautifully like I’ve never seen before. Pink cotton
candy clouds, block the suns hard rays. The wind blew through the trees back and forth
like a balloon person. The magnificent sun shone bright like an angel’s diamond
shimmering lighter and lighter taking my breath away.
