QUOTES OF THE WEEK"My enjoyment in working with wood isfiguring out the best process to makethe things I design. I think about designwhile I am walking on the beach, driving, or watching television, and I tryto work out the design and constructionprocess in my head before going to thesketchbook. I have a visual mind, meaning I can see things I am thinking

about, or I think in pictures. Noteverybody can do this and each personhas to work out his or her own way ofdesigning. For some, a sketch will helpvisualize the concept enough to go andmake it, but for others, a sketch will looklike a foreign language and a scalemodel or prototype might be needed."
~ Neil Scobie From "Concept Development: Goingfrom Idea to Finished Form," by NeilScobie, February 2016 issue ofAmerican Woodturner
"Take the time to study form andproportion. The use of these principlescan make a good piece great. It doesn'tmatter how much you texture andembellish. Bad form will always be badform."

About Troy"My woodturning journey is a little different thanmost. To be honest I probably wouldn't bewoodturning if it weren't for one day back in 2008when I had a rock climbing accident which left meparalyzed and without the use of my legs. It was during my recovery that I knew sittingaround doing nothing wasn't an option. Once I had returned home and got settled, afriend's father asked if I had ever tried woodturning, so I decided to give it a go andfrom there I have never looked back." ~ Troy Grimwood
