New Sights and SoundsIn October and November, expect some exciting developments at Trinity Church and St. Paul’s Chapel: a newly renovated organ will be installed at St. Paul’s, and a new color of paint with an impressive historic lineage will be displayed in portions of Trinity. Both projects will affect how we experience our worship spaces for a period of time. Please see the details below.

St. Paul’s ChapelAccommodating the installation of a renovated organ means that the chapel will have restricted hours through November 18. Sunday services will take place at 8am and 9:15am as regularly scheduled. However, at other times during the week, the chapel will be closed. Compline will be held at Trinity Church on Sunday evenings.

Trinity ChurchAs the parish determines the scope of a renovation that is being proposed for 2018, scaffolding has gone up inside the 171-year-old Trinity Church building, allowing a team to “mock up” portions of the church to recreate the original color scheme envisioned by Trinity’s architect, Richard Upjohn, in the 1840s. This project, which requires the scaffolding to remain in place until the end of November, is one part of a design phase exploring the potential renovation. Make sure to let your opinions on the color be known! Apart from the addition of Compline, Trinity’s regular open hours and worship schedule will not change.

Congregational Voice “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil” (Proverbs 3:5-7). It seems to me that when we place our trust in God and allow him to control our lives, he relieves us from the stress of life... we control nothing, so place all our cares and concerns in his hands and watch him make a way for us. Our ways are not his ways, so we have to let go, and allow him to direct our lives for us. —Lorna Cookie Brown-Goodrich
