FNC Athletics

Our four representatives are off to Byron Bay tomorrow to

compete at the Far North Coast Athletic Championships.

Kya (200m, 800m) and Amali (High jump, 100m) will

contest their individual events and all four students will

compete in the PP5 relay (small schools relay).

* Please make sure that relay teams are at the field for

an 8.30 am start. It is advised that there may be delays

due to the congestion on Ewingsdale Rd.

* Programs will be available for sale for $2.

We wish our four athletes all the very best for success at

the carnival.

Our DispositionsThis week, students have been learning about being

patient and persistent and were involved in some learning

activities around this theme. It’s important that we teach

our students to set achievable goals, persist with tasks

when faced with challenges and change strategies when

first attempts are not successful.

Next week’s Disposition is being

a Ubiquitous Learner. This means

students are able to think, learn and create anywhere,

anyhow, anytime.

Woody HeadThanks to those parents of our senior students who have

returned their camping survey. We have received just 5

notes with only one offer of a tent. We may all be sleeping

under the stars! I’m sure this will change as we receive

the final 11 surveys. If not we will come up with a Plan B.

We had a number of parents who offered to be helpers

during the camp. The parents who will be accompanying

us are Corrine Fisher, Michelle Walker and Richard

Patterson. Thanks to these mums and dad.

Positive Learning Behaviour What enables our students to experience positive

learning opportunities at our school? Currently staff are

exploring this question to determine how to make our

school a more positive place for learning. The particular

emphasis is around those behaviours that encourage a

safe, respectful and responsible environment.

To ensure we have a broad scope for our analysis we

would like some feedback from our students and our

families about what they see as important behaviours for

positive learning. Attached to this newsletter is a matrix

of behaviour expectations across our school.

We would like parents to add/delete/comment on this

and share their opinions, so we get a whole school

community picture of how we want our school to be. We

are hoping every parent will return this survey whether

they have some ideas to add or not. Whether you make

changes or write ideas or not please sign off on the

bottom of the survey and return to school. Students will

have an opportunity to share their ideas in their classes.

End of Year PerformanceThere are some rumblings about that there is going to

be a big performance at the end of the year! Stay tuned

as the staff have commenced planning for this big event

involving every student and things are starting to happen

Todd Woodbridge Cup (Tennis)

On Tuesday our year 4 girls Kyeesha, Sienna, Shelby and

Oceanah joined Empire Vale students from Year 3 and 4

to play in the Todd Woodbridge Cup. We had two teams

entered and we played games against Wardell, Cabbage

Tree Island and Alstonville Public School. At the beginning

of the day the students participated in a lesson on modified

tennis. There was much laughter as, for many students,

this was their first time holding a racquet.

After a short recess break it was time to play doubles and

mixed doubles against the other schools. Our students

had great fun and there were lots of long rallies happening.

All of the students played competitively and displayed

excellent sportsmanship.

After lunch the organisers mixed all the teams up and

played some fun games to finish the day. It was fantastic

to see students from different schools playing together.

Overall it was a great day and a fun way to introduce

students to the game of tennis.
