Big Ideas: An Activity

Big or heavy ideas the major arguments/points driving your papers.

They may be implied through your sources or in your writing right now. Some examples… “Digital technology is a positive thing for education” “The definition of literacy has changed a lot” “Good writing has to be collaborative”

Go through your papers in pairs and look for the big ideas/major arguments/points and list them. You shouldn’t have more than 2 or 3 or else they’re not “big.”

These big ideas/major arguments are the focal points of your projects.

They are the “centers of gravity” in your work.

They are what you will support with your sources, your own observations, etc.

Stupid Arrangement Tricks: ABCDE

ABCDE is a mnemonic standing for Action, Background, Conflict, Development, Ending.
