In addition to your personal daily allowance, everyone has the same weekly ProPoints allowance to use however they want across the week. This has been designed specifi cally to give you the all-important fl exibility so you can enjoy your favourite foods with friends, family and colleagues while still knowing you’ll lose weight. Best of all, it will help you develop healthy habits for long-term weight maintenance.

There are no set rules on how to spend your weekly ProPoints allowance, so let’s look at some ways to help you spend it.

SPLIT: Divide them over the weekYou have the choice to split your weekly ProPoints allowance of 49 over the week. You might feel like a bigger serve of

pasta for lunch on Monday, a dollop of sour cream on your baked potato on Wednesday and a glass of wine or two with dinner on Saturday. It’s up to you how you split it. Just remember to keep track.

“I spend a few ProPoints values from my weekly allowance each day. I have a little dessert after dinner, usually a hot chocolate or mint biscuit for 3 ProPoints values.” – Sarah, lost 3kg.

SAVE: Keep them for the weekend or a special occasionIf you have a birthday party or social event on the weekend, you have the option to save your entire weekly ProPoints allowance to use on that occasion. To help you

conserve your weekly ProPoints allowance, fi ll up on lots of 0 ProPoints value fruits and vegetables and Filling & Healthy foods that will help keep you feeling fuller for longer.

“I love breakfast at my local café on Saturday mornings. I have scrambled eggs on crusty bread plus a large latte. I budget 15 ProPoints values from my weekly allowance and it’s worth every one!” Emma, lost 6kg

HOLD: Stick them in your back pocketSometimes the unexpected pops up, like after-work drinks or a slice of a co-worker’s birthday cake. You can put aside your weekly ProPoints allowance for these

unplanned occasions that can spring up out of nowhere. But remember, if you don’t use your weekly ProPoints allowance, you lose them. You can’t roll them over to the next week.

“I keep my weekly ProPoints allowance for a few wines with friends or in case

I can’t be bothered to cook and decide to grab last-minute Thai

takeaway,” – Lisa, lost 17kg

FORFEIT: Don’t spend it to maximise your weight lossYou don’t have to spend your

weekly ProPoints allowance if you choose not to. Instead

you can save your entire weekly ProPoints allowance

to help maximise your weight loss. Perhaps some weeks you might spend it all, other weeks you might use just a few, or some weeks you spend none. It’s up to you how you choose to spend your stash. Just remember it’s there to allow you the fl exibility and freedom to enjoy life while you’re losing weight.

“I fi nd my daily ProPoints allowance is all I need to eat the foods I love. I mostly save my weekly ProPoints allowance each week, which gives me good weight-loss results.” Kellie, lost 2kg

BREATHE EASYFROM WEIGHT WATCHERS NUTRITION ADVISOR EMMA STIRLINGEvery day new research uncovers more secrets of healthy eating. A study recently published in the British Medical Journal has shown that eating a diet rich in

wholegrains, polyunsaturated fats and nuts (and low in refi ned grains, processed meat and sugary drinks) is associated with lower risk of lung disease. Doesn’t it feel good to be eating well for your health!

COOL RUNNINGSFROM WEIGHT WATCHERS FITNESS TRAINER NEIL RUSSELLFor many, the heat of summer is enough to prevent them from trying to run. Well, the hottest and most humid months are behind us so it’s time to get out and give it a go. We have

developed a walk-to-run program, available on the Weight Watchers Fitness Hub, that shows how to slowly and safely build from never having run before right up to completing your fi rst fun run. The fi rst month or so is the toughest, but once you push through that discomfort, running can be your weight-loss and mental-clarity go-to activity.

BY WEIGHT WATCHERS 2014 AUSTRALIAN SLIMMER OF THE YEAR TINA KERMODE “The biggest change I’ve made is realising that my needs are a priority. It’s easy to put yourself last when you’re the mum of a big family, but I’ve learned that I am truly valuable. I am worth spending an extra fi ve minutes preparing a healthy lunch for, rather than eating snack food, and it’s okay for me to have a few hours of ‘me time’ a week to exercise. Actually, it’s important!”

PROFILE

LOST25.7kg

IN 8 months

Tania BonominiShe was trapped in a stressful job that was making her unhappy and gain weight. But after losing over 25kg with Weight Watchers, Tania is happier and healthier than ever, and she has discovered her love of fi tness. My parents and my husband’s parents all passed away in 2012. It was devastating. I had a high-pressure job and threw myself into my career as a coping mechanism. I was trying to be a great mum and wife, but I was making bad food choices and didn’t make time for exercise. I wasn’t being very kind to myself and rarely saw my family – I travelled for work a lot and we never took holidays. One day, I walked into my boss’s offi ce and said, “I can’t do this any more, I’m resigning.” I was getting fatter and fatter and was so unhappy. He persuaded me to take time off to regroup, so in December 2012 I fi nished work and in January 2013 I joined Weight Watchers. Exercising and losing weight would be my new job.

I started going to the gym every day, scaled back my food portions and reduced my alcohol intake. I reworked all my favourite recipes and made them Program-friendly.

Before I lost weight I was always looking for excuses to avoid exercise, but now I love it. I like variety so I do CrossFit, boot camps, classes at the gym and I run. I exercise six days a week. It’s a great stress reliever and is also good for socialising – I’ve never had

before

so many friends! In the last six months I’ve created a running group with other mums. So many parents struggle to make time for and look after themselves properly. I’m in training for the Gold Coast half marathon in July. My friends from running group and I are going with our families. I’m focusing on collecting as many race T-shirts and medals in the next year as I can!

4 Spoon half the chocolate mixture into prepared moulds. Spoon raspberry

mixture on top of centre of chocolate with small spoon, without touching side of mould. Top with remaining chocolate mixture. Place moulds on baking tray. Bake for 10 mins or until a thin crust has formed. Set aside for 1 min. Slide a small knife around edge of moulds and turn puddings onto serving plates. Serve immediately with extra raspberries.

NOTE: Use raspberries straight from the freezer for the fi lling as it makes it easier to spoon into the moulds.

SERVE WITH: No-added-sugar vanilla ice-cream. Add 1 ProPoints value for a 45g scoop per serve.

TIP: Do not let puddings stand for too long before serving as they will continue to cook and won’t be soft in the centre.
