The day promises to be an inspirational Sabbath in the community. Share the news, and invite all the youth to come out… let’s do what Jesus would do- help others! Global Youth Day T-Shirts are available from the Youth Department at a subsidized cost of only $300.00. Orders must be submitted to the department no later than Monday March 11, 2013 by 12 noon. -1-

(1) Notices from Youth Ministries Department

A. Global Youth Day March 16, 2013

On Sabbath March 16, from 7-11am, the youth of East Jamaica Conference will join with over, eight million

Seventh-day Adventist Youth who will be mobilized on the streets of our villages, towns, and cities

around the world. We offer our services to others by extending acts of kindness to others through

missionary service. Between 12:00 pm and 2:00pm, the Youth Ministries Department of EJC, will move

to the Mandela Park in Half Way Tree, St. Andrew for a blood collection drive, distribution of priorities

and a grand singspiration. The day promises to be an inspirational Sabbath in the community. Share the

news, and invite all the youth to come out… let’s do what Jesus would do- help others!

Global Youth Day T-Shirts are available from the Youth Department at a subsidized cost of only

$300.00. Orders must be submitted to the department no later than Monday March 11, 2013 by 12 noon.

B. Youth Week of Prayer 2013 March 16- 23, 2013

The annual youth week of prayer entitled, “Revival that Counts…a call to justice and mercy,” will run

from March 16-23, 2013. We pray that the usual support will be given to our youth as they continue to

lead others to Christ under the theme: “Empower for Mission.” You can access the readings at

www.gcyouthministreis.org or ejc.interamerica-org.

C. Summer Camp:

The East Jamaica Conference will host its annual summer camp between August 13-20, 2013 at Robin’s Bay-

St.Mary. The cost is $6, 500 (this includes a T-Shirt). Each church is being asked to send a delegate. We

encourage all our youth to start planning to be there. This year promises to be greater, with lots more fun,

fellowship and spiritual care!

D. The Basic Staff Training Programme

The Basic Staff Training Programme which is a pre-requisite to all the Youth Ministries training programmes

(for Master Guide, Senior Youth Leader, Drill Instructor & PLA, unless done within the last three years)

begins on Sunday March 10, at the Kencot Church at 9am sharp! The annual training programmes will

commence on April 7, 2013. All AY Leaders and Club Directors MUST make use of this opportunity to be

trained in their specified area as Jamaica Union Conference has made it mandatory for all youth leaders to be

trained.

E. Sports Evangelism

Our Sports Evangelism programme kicks off on May 18, with a dress parade and rally. The competition itself

begins on May 25, 2013. These events will commence at 7:30pm SHARP! Registration cost per team

$5,000.00 (to be paid at the EJC Office by May 13, 2013). Please check the youth website at

(2) District Dialogue - New Haven SDA Church - March 30-2013

The New Haven SDA Church will be the place to be in the afternoon of March 30, 2013 as the Administrators

and Directors of the East Jamaica Conference will interact with the leadership and general membership of the

churches of District #18.

District #18 consists of the New Haven and the Riverton Meadows SDA Church. District Dialogue offers the

unique opportunity of giving the Conference Administrators direct access to the leadership of the local church while

at the same time providing an avenue for the local membership to ask questions of the Conference leaders.

(3) Notices from the Children’s Ministries Department

A. The Jewels Launch will take place on Sabbath April 6, at the Constant Spring Church. Our guest

speaker will be the JAMU Children’s Ministries Director, Sis. Lorraine Vernal. Our Jewels as well as

our Aunties and Uncles are asked to, wherever possible, wear their pink (girls) and blue (boys) colours

for the occasion.

B. All CMD’s are asked to teach their children the Spanish version for the song ‘When He Cometh to make

up His Jewels in readiness for the Jewels launch.

C. Children’s Convention ‘Preach Fest’ and baptism will be held at the Stadium Community Church. The

dress code is white dresses with pink or blue accessories for the girls and black or blue pants with

white, pink or blue shirts for the boys. All CMDs are asked to indicate by the end of March the name(s)

of their prospective candidate(s) for baptism. A special package will be prepared for persons who will

be baptized during this year of the LAITY.

D. Orientation for public speaking and child preachers training has begun. CMD’s kindly remind the

children to do their assignment. Another orientation is about to take place. Kindly send us the

children’s names immediately.

E. The children’s Spanish group meets at Hagley Park Church from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. every 1st and 3rd

Sabbath.

F. All CMD’s are asked to use Children’s story time, as one of the avenues to give the weekly parent tips.

This is a captive audience to disseminate the information. This tip should preferably be read by a child

and should take no longer than 30 seconds.

G. Children’s ministries team leaders let’s pray and plan to reap at least one soul per quarter per church,

that is four souls for 2013. May is the month of special reaping for our department. Since our mandate

is soul reaping this is a reminder that all CMDs are expected to engage our children in crusade in your

church.

H. In support of our 6 pastors who will be ordained on March 16, 2013, we have postponed our Leaders

Certification Training for Levels 2 & 3 for a date to be announced.

I. Kindly send us the names of the speakers who will be engaged in the Children’s crusade in your church

along with a short profile of each speaker. Where possible kindly include a picture. We would like to

highlight and pray for these children.

(3) Notices from the Women’s Ministries Department

A. GEMS anniversary will take place at the Hagley Park SDA Church on Sabbath April 20, 2013.

All fun loving mentors are expected to be in attendance.

B. The Andrews SDA Church will be hosting ‘Moms in Touch’ prayer session every fourth

Wednesday in each month on the church grounds. March 27, 2013.

Time: 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

C. Coming soon will be our ‘Mother Daughter’ Conference. Watch the site for further information

and details.

D. I.M.A.P. launch will take place in June. Our speaker will be Dr. Eric Nathan. This is your

opportunity to come learn how to build lasting relationships. You are asked to bring a visitor with

you.

E. Women’s Ministries team leaders, let’s pray and plan to reap at least one soul per quarter, per

G. HEART Trust Soft Skills training continues this Sunday, March 3, 2013. We begin the day

with devotion at 9:00 a.m. Classes will end at 12 noon. Please be on time. Final assessment will be

held on March 17, 2013.

email addresses.

Parenting Tip for Sabbath March 9, 2013

Chores are important for the development of each child because they teach responsibility and give a sense of

achievement. However these should not interfere with education or affect a child’s health. The Convention

states that every child should be protected from child labour.

quarterly report, (report form available on line), which is due on the 10th of each month following the end of

the quarter. Also, all weekly evangelistic reports from your church to be sent to the EJC office.

EJC SABBATH SCHOOL/PERSONAL MINISTRIES & COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT

Hello Sabbath School friends!

Please be reminded that as at January 5, 2013, and by now all our Sabbath Schools should be on the new or renewed programme:

• 6-8 members in each class

• Interactive reading/learning strategy for the bible study/review

• Vertical meditation for each unit member

• Horizontal sharing of thoughts, etc.

Please note the following:
