do you know?• How it is different to

cemeteries you might have seen in England.

L.I: To describe a setting.

We will write our description telling the story about Lucy.

e.g. As Lucy ran into the cemetery, she passed crumbling grave stones. Some people were buried underground, but some were buried in stone boxes above the ground. A huge full moon lit the was as she raced down the cobbled paths and fireflies dances around. In the moonlight, the old graves looked spooky yet Lucy kept on running up and down the paths and stone steps.

Your turn. Success Criteria - Remember:• Third person• Past tense• Fronted adverbials• Expanded noun phrases• Add the description to the actual storyline.

L.I: To write a dialogue.

Today we are going to continue the conversation between Lucy and Mr Chopin. Watch the video again and pay special attention to the ending..

This is the dialogue between Lucy and Mr Chopin from the end of the film:

“Are we going to start?” asked Lucy, surprising Mr Chopin. “Mr Chopin?”“You’re late Lucy!” replied the startled piano teacher, falling off his chair.“Are you Ok?” enquired the young girl. “You are so pale!”“That might be because I’m dead Lucy,” said Mr Chopin from the floor.

Your task is to continue the conversation… They might talk about: • Why she was late• If she had been practicing• If Mr Chopin had seen any other ghosts

Be as imaginative as you can. Also try to use different ways of saying Lucy and Mr Chopin as it gets boring to hear the same thing over and over.

L.I: To write a dialogue.

Here I my example:

“Are we going to start?” asked Lucy, surprising Mr Chopin. “Mr Chopin?”“You’re late Lucy!” replied the startled piano teacher, falling off his chair.“Are you Ok?” enquired the young girl. “You are so pale!”“That might be because I’m dead Lucy,” said Mr Chopin from the floor."Would you like some help getting up?" asked Lucy."I might be dead, but I can still get up you know!" snapped the ghost. "Anyway, why are you late Lucy?""Oh, I had to look after my little brother until my mum came home," answered the buddying pianist. "Hey, Mr Chopin, have you seen any other ghosts this week?""Well actually I have. I have a very good jamming session with Jim Morrison on Tuesday, I watched Sarah Bernhardt perform in a play with Oscar Wilde on Thursday, and last night I went for a drive with Mr Bugatti! How about you Lucy, Have you been practicing?""Of course I have Mr Chopin. I especially liked the last piece and I practiced it every night." replied Lucy."Very good. Shall we get on with this weeks lesson?" asked the grey faced teacher, finally smiling

L.I: To edit and publish your work.

Hopefully yesterday you wrote a fantastic dialogue. My class knows well that when I write, I make all sorts of mistakes and I find them when I read the piece back to myself or the class.

Today, I would like you to read your work back to yourself, correcting any mistakes that you have made.

Look out for:• Speech marks• A comma, exclamation mark or a question mark before you close the speech

marks• Capital letters for all names.
