3) If the child is sneezing and/or coughing, he/she must cover his nose and mouth with a disposable tissue.

4) Wash hands periodically with soap and water, especially after coughing or sneezing. 5) Advise your child to avoid contact with people who are sick and not share food or drinks

either. 6) The school has made possible the daily cleaning and disinfection to guarantee a healthy

environment.

Note: The Washburn Talent Show The Greatest Musicals of a Lifetime has been postponed for Thursday, April 30, 2020 at the Centro de Bellas Artes in Juana Diaz. The tickets are $3.00. They are available.

La administración debe cumplir con la ordenanza de la Gobernadora de Puerto Rico y ha decretado un receso presencial hasta el 30 de marzo de 2020. Como hemos estado informando, a partir del miércoles 18 de marzo de 2020, los maestros enviarán, continuamente, trabajos, asignaciones y avalúos de manera que se evalúen para cumplir con el Trimestre 4 del año escolar 2019-2020. Es una nueva experiencia educativa que ha sido validada para cumplimentar con las destrezas académicas necesarias. Se hace necesario que ustedes se involucren en este proceso, acompañando, ayudando a sus hijos a completar este plan de trabajo. Recuerden que de tener dudas tecnológicas pueden comunicarse con el Sr. Gerardo Echevarría al 787- 637-2449. Por otro lado, es importante que cumplamos con las medidas preventivas que el estado ha determinado como protocolo para garantizar el bienestar de todos como responsables de los que nos rodean.

En caso de tener tos y/o estornudar, deberá cubrir nariz y boca con un pañuelo desechable.

Saludos padres, madres y estudiantes: Este fin de semana nos sorprendió con la noticia del comienzo de un Toque de Queda implementado por el gobierno central como medida para reducir las probabilidades de contagio con el coronavirus COVID-19 en los residentes de Puerto Rico. Ciertamente es una experiencia nueva para todos y son muchas las preocupaciones e interrogantes que está situación nos trajo. Una de ellas fue ciertamente la seguridad de nuestros hijos y el efecto de esta medida en la culminación del semestre escolar, que de por sí se vio afectado inicialmente por el terremoto y la replica de temblores. En Washburn School nos preocupamos por ambos aspectos y rápidamente establecimos un plan de acción de manera holística. Los maestros ya habían sido adiestrados y están preparados para comenzar sus clases de manera remota, utilizando mayormente la plataforma Microsoft Teams. Tenemos un equipo de asistencia técnica encabezado por el Sr. Gerardo Echevarría, con quien podrá aclarar todas sus dudas sobre esta plataforma mediante la línea directa (787) 637-2449. El Sr. Edward Torres, Headmaster y la Sra. Rosa M. Figueroa, Directora Académica estarán supervisando directamente la calidad y cantidad del trabajo asignado a los estudiantes. Como Trabajadora Social estaré brindando apoyo a la comunidad escolar y ofreciendo seguimiento a las familias en esta transición por medio de correo electrónico o llamadas, según sea necesario. Es importante recordar que es imperativo el que los estudiantes entren diariamente (lunes a viernes) a la plataforma y revisen el material asignado. This week, we will be working on practicing the “Place value song” by Numberock, to review the material given in class. Students will record themselves singing the song and hand in the recording by Friday, March 20th, using Microsoft teams or the Washburn email. In addition, students will complete two assignments with place value exercises corresponding with the themes of the song, these assignments will also be handed in by Friday, March 20th, using Microsoft teams or the Washburn email. Book: “McGraw hill My Math”.

Students will choose one object, animal, food, or person that they like and will write a small paragraph, (5 sentences) explaining why they like it. Said paragraph is to be handed in by Friday, March 20th, using Microsoft teams or the Washburn email. Evaluation: Sentence structure, clarity, creativity, complexity and coherence will be evaluated. Book: “Reading wonders, McGraw hill grammar workbook”.

Students will record themselves reading the paragraph they created in English writing (only voice recording, no video). The due date is Friday, March 20th, and it will be handed in using Microsoft teams or the Washburn email. Note: Avoid external sounds, (fans, music, etc…) Evaluation: Volume, tone of voice, coherency, clarity while speaking and proper use of pauses and pacing will be evaluated. Step 2: Once it becomes ice, take one tray, out of the freezer and let the ice melt at room temperature, use the clock to take note of how long it takes to melt. Step 3: Take out the other tray AND WITH PARENTAL SUPERVITION, put the ice in the microwave let it melt and write down how long it took to melt. Step 4: Answer the following questions:

1) Which tray melted the fastest and why?

2) Which tray melted the slowest and why?

3) If you were to put the trays back in the freezer will they go back to being ice?

This video explains what the types of communities are (rural, suburban, and urban areas) then, students will take a picture of their community, paste it on their notebook and identify whether it is a rural ,an urban or a suburban area and why. Once that is done, they will take a picture of the assignment in their notebook and will hand it in Friday March 20th using Microsoft teams or the Washburn email Finally, students will work on pages 138 and 139 of the “Community Interactive Workbook, Volume 2”. Note: These pages will be scanned and sent to students by the teacher, where they will print these out, complete them, take a picture, then send said picture to the teacher using Microsoft teams or the Washburn email. Second note: Should printing not be available to a student it is also acceptable to write down the answers to pages 138 and 139 in the social studies notebook, take a picture of said notebook then hand it in.
