Dear families
Your child’s Semester 1 report will be sent home on Wednesday, 29th June. These reports
document the learning that took place during Terms 1 and 2. I encourage all parents to take the time to sit down and discuss the report with your child. Congratulate your child on the positives and perhaps negotiate some areas to work on throughout Semester 2. Setting future goals will give your child a focus for improvement.
I have enjoyed the opportunity to read the students’ Semester 1 reports. It is wonderful to read about the growth and gains the students have made across all subject areas and in their development as learners. So many of our students are curious about our world, care for others and demonstrate true enthusiasm for learning. It reinforces that our school really is a positive place to learn. I would like to acknowledge the time and effort our teachers have put in to compiling these reports. They have spent much of their own time preparing and creating their class reports.
Drawn Together – Art Exhibition Our official opening of Drawn Together is happening at 3.30pm this afternoon in the hall. Our hall has been transformed into an amazing art gallery filled with fantastic artworks from students, staff and community members. The students have done a remarkable job creating their artworks and, displayed together, they look fabulous. An enormous thank you goes firstly to Elaine Camlin, our artist in residence, who has worked with both the staff and students to develop the works. Elaine’s expertise has been much appreciated and well utilised by the staff. A massive thank you to Miss Jenna Tritton for her efforts in co-ordinating this event. This includes Elaine’s visits, the purchasing of art supplies, the promotion of the event and the organisation of the show itself. Thank you also to the many staff that have assisted in setting up the art show.
The exhibition, Drawn Together, will be open from today until Tuesday afternoon. Parents are able to purchase their child’s artwork and some of the community artwork is also for sale. All proceeds from the sales will go to charity. The canteen will also be open this afternoon selling hot food and drinks.
We look forward to seeing our community support this fantastic event.
Last Day Term 2 Next Friday will be the last day of school for Term 2. Our first Semester has been incredibly busy and productive. The first day back at school for Term 3 will be Tuesday 19th July.
Have a great week.

On Wednesday the 15th June, Year 6 travelled up to Mount Austin High School to participate in the
second Taster Day. This involved the students splitting into groups and attending a variety of
lessons they will experience when attending high school next year.
The three subjects were English, Geography and Cooking. In English, the students completed a
listening activity, in Geography they completed a mapping activity and in cooking the students
cooked pizza.
The students modelled our three school values of Respect, Responsibility, Care and
Cooperation throughout the day and mixed in well with the students from Ashmont Public School.
The next taster Day will be in Term 3.
