Kindergarten Transition Today our new Kindergarten students for 2020 completed their 3 rd Orientation visit where they participated in craft lessons and school familiarity exercises. At present we have 33 students ready to commence Kindergarten in 2020, but if you have a child or know of one who is already 5 or turns 5 early in 2020 please contact the front office so enrolment papers can be filled out. The 4 th and final Kinder Orientation session will be held on Monday 9 th December where students will be placed into class groups for the new year. Absence Explanations Last week I met with our Home School Liaison Officer with regards to our schools attendance rates. Across the board our figures are very good, but there are a few students who are habitually absent and thus require HSLO intervention. Please remember to explain absences when they occur either in writing, over the phone or via our school phone app. If they are explained, particularly with medical certificates, then they will not be investigated by the HSLO. These classes are not based on friendship groups, as class time is for working and break times are for playing and socialising. These classes will be revealed at the commencement of the new school year. Moving In 2020 If you are moving over the Christmas break and will not be returning to Dubbo North Public school can you please let your childs classroom teacher or the front office know, as this saves us a lot of time at the commencement of a new school year when students dont return and we have to chase them up. SRC Speeches These will be held next Thursday and Friday, 5 th and 6 th December in the school hall from 12:00pm on both days. Please ensure your child is prepared for this occasion as it takes plenty of courage to stand up in front of the school and ask for their vote, and students who participate in this learn a lot about public speaking. Please note, teachers are not able to assist students with speeches as teachers need to remain impartial thus speeches need to be prepared at home. Parents are openly invited to attend the speeches and support their children as they vie for positions on the Junior and Senior SRC for 2020. Have a great week Toby Morgan Principal

Congratulations ...5/6A on winning the library award last week. They are all doing a

    The Department’s Revised Enrolment Policy

What has changed? – part 1: the enrolment cap

The enrolment cap is the number of students that can be enrolled at a school based on the school’s permanent accommodation. The enrolment cap tells us whether the school may or may not have the capacity to accept non-local enrolments. It is not a target or limit on the number of local enrolments a school can take.

Each school with a local intake area will have a cap set by the department from Term 4 2019. This applies to all the schools in Dubbo. To discuss this further, please feel free to make an appointment to meet with the Principal of your local school.

On Monday 18th November the Swim School started. Spots were limited to 60 students which filled up fast. All the students have a great time and enjoy themselves while they get to learn to swim.

On Wednesday the 20th November we had a Whole School Assembly. This included quite a few Student of the Week awards, a Principal’s Award, Win Bin prizes, Library Monitor award and PBL Positive Behaviour awards as well. Well done to all the students who received awards.
