As Jesus’ disciples, we are called to follow in his foot-steps, wholeheartedly, and to offer peace to all those we meet.

THE PEACE CHALLENGE We cannot end war, tyranny, oppression or discrimina-tion, but each of us has the power and the responsibility to share peace…to refuse to take part in petty bickering at home or at work. Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

As part of our 60th Anniversary Jubilee Cele-bration, Queen of Apostles is partnering with Lifetouch to publish a Parish Directory of all households officially registered with the Parish or actively contributing to the Parish. The con-tact information for each household to be pub-lished will be generated from the Parish Data-base with information you have already pro-

vided to Queen of Apostles. This includes: mailing name, mail-ing address, home phone number and family e-mail. An oppor-tunity to review/correct the information will be offered at the pho-tography sessions or you can contact the Parish office to review the information we have for you in our database. If you do not want your information published in either the printed or mobile versions of the directory (or both), please contact Dirk Maasen at 408-213-6510 or [email protected] and let us know before Septem-ber 9. Also, if you haven’t scheduled your photography appointments, there is still time. Appointments are still available on July 24 & 25 and September 6 & 7. Sign up online at: www.qofa.org or https://booknow-lifetouch.appointment-plus.com/yqytrc98/. Each session will take about an hour and will be at the Community Center. Remember, the session is free, you will receive a free 8 x 10 photograph and a free directory when they are published next year. Remember, the directory won’t be complete without you.

HIGH SCHOOL Youth Ministry and Confirmation

Sponsor a teen to attend the Steubenville Conference! There are 3 teen leaders and 1 young adult leader from Queen of Apostles who are in need of financial assis-tance to attend the Steubenville Con-

ference, July 26-28, in San Ramon. This is a great opportunity for them to encounter Jesus in adoration and the Sacraments, to learn what it means to be a disciple of Christ, and to bring back what they experience to our parish. If you are able to sponsor a teen to go or to make a donation, please make checks payable to Queen of Apostles, write “Steubenville” in the memo, and drop it off in the offertory basket or parish office. Each registration fee is $205.00. Thank you in advance for your generosity and utmost kindness! Thank you Ladies Guild! The youth ministry thanks the Ladies Guild for sponsoring 2 addi-tional teen leaders to attend the Steubenville Conference. It is a huge blessing and a gift to the young church! Prophets and Peacemaker

Nelson Mandela Nelson Mandela was born 100 years ago on July 18. He spent much of his life in prison, only later to win honor and admiration throughout the world as a symbol of hope, rec-onciliation, and perseverance in the cause of justice. Nelson was born of a royal family in Africa. After studying law, he joined in the struggle against the system of apart-heid in South Africa. He was jailed for 27 years for his role in this struggle. But when he walked out of prison, it was to meet with the President of South Africa, FW de Klerk, to reconcile the opposing factors in the governing of South Africa. Mandela became the President of South Africa and went on to be awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace. Quote: “No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin . . . If they learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”
