5/6 SPORT PROGRAM 2019 Year 5-6 HOOP BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

The year 5-6 Hoop Basketball Tournament was held on Wednesday September 11th at the Mill Park Basketball stadium. We entered 6 Future Star teams on the day. Five out of the six teams made it to the finals and two played off in the grand final against each other (Future Star Elephants V Future Star Emus). We had many parents and friends come along and support the staff and students on the day which was great to see. A special thank you to Bridey Surkitt who scored for the Elephants team. We had a number of coaches and scorers that worked with each team on the day.

Swimming Program-Year P-2 in term 4

In term 4, we are offering an intensive six day swimming program at the YMCA (Epping) with each session running for 45 minutes. The levels are in accordance with the YMCA Swim Program (which is a balance of basic swimming skills-stroke development, simulated open water activities and water safety - learning

about different water environments that exist, the dangers that may be present and how to deal with them. Our school has been booked in for 6 lessons (for each year level), with two home groups attending each lesson. There will be two groups. Group 1 will attend between December 2nd– December 9th and Group 2 will attend between December 12th– December 19th. Swimming is a life skill and is part of the Victorian curriculum where students practise a range of movement patterns in aquatic environments. A permission form on Compass will be made available either towards the end of term 3 or the first week of term 4.
