Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat do I do if I’m injured and can’t take part in my PE lesson?

You must bring your PE kit into school with you (unless you are physically unable to change your clothes). You can still participate in your lesson with time-keeping, umpiring etc, it is important for you to continue your learning, even if you are injured or feeling a little under the weather.

What happens if I forget my PE kit?

Your teacher will write a note in your planner, it will be recorded in the register and a letter will be sent home as a reminder.

What happens if I forget my kit for more than one lesson?

Again, your teacher will write a note in your planner, it will be recorded in the register, a letter will be sent home and your parent/carer will receive a phone call. You will be expected to attend a time debt for one hour in the 2012 Centre.

What if I don’t turn up for the time debt?

Your parent/carer will receive a phone call to discuss the matter and you will be given a further opportunity to attend the time debt. If you still fail to attend, you be ex-pected to attend a day on internal exclusion in 2012 Centre and your parent/carer will be asked to come into school for a meeting.

Do I need special shoes for dance & gymnastics?

No. Dance & gymnastics lessons are taught in bare feet. You may bring jazz shoes or ballet shoes if you wish.

2012 Centre PartnershipsWe have many partnerships in 2012 Centre.

We work closely with our cluster primary schools. You may remember being involved in the annual SCWA Dance Production, where, every year we have in excess of 700 primary school children performing to a large audience.

You will be offered the opportunity to become a Sports Leader or Dance Leader and assist in the running of dance and sports clubs in local primary schools. We offer Level 1 and 2 Community Sports Leadership award and Dance Leaders Level 1 and 2 (Sports Leadership qualification).

We have partnerships with local, national and global sports associations. Coaches come to work with SCWA pupils in lesson time and you can stay for extra sessions in enrichment time. We work with many of these groups to offer opportunities not usually available in the school curriculum.

The 2012 Centre is the hub for Basketball in Greenwich, we host many high profile games in our Olympic size sports hall which has seating for 450 spectators!

We also have a strong partnership with Welling Football club who support our pupils in training and development.

The Japanese female Volleyball team used our facilities during the London 2012 Olympic Games.

National School Sports Week

SCWA always participate in National School Sports Week, usually held during the last week of June each year. This year activities include:• GCSE Kayaking• Dance Project with GDA• MFL Football (Football using only French or Spanish!)• Intra-School Rounders• Sportathon: Sports Leaders helping at Borough Competitions• Field events to contribute towards the Sports Fest

The week culminates in the SCWA Sports Fest. This is a very exciting event where every member of the school community – all pupils and all staff – participate in over 22 different sports as well as the traditional track races at the end of the day. Every pupil collects points, which will go towards the grand total with only one Home School being awarded the SCWA Sports Fest trophy.
