Learning at Home Project

WHY IS LEARNING AT HOME IMPORTANT?

Learning at home should be fun and engaging!

When parents, siblings, friends, and neighbors become involved in a child’s education, that child succeeds.

Learning at home ensures that knowledge is not lost in translation and reinforces everything learned in the classroom.

Page 4: Welcome 3 rd Grade Parents!

WHAT CAN YOUR FAMILY GAIN FROM THIS?

By participating in these learning at home activities, families are afforded the opportunity to learn and play alongside their student.

Learning at home helps grow familial relationships.

Page 5: Welcome 3 rd Grade Parents!

WHY WAS THIS TOPIC CHOSEN? Sports are exciting for

kids and adults alike! This project will provide

information while fostering an interest in physical activity.

Equally as important, these assignments promote health and well being for students and their families.

Sports and health also translate to a wide variety of subjects (math, writing, etc.).

Page 6: Welcome 3 rd Grade Parents!

WHO CAN AND SHOULD PARTICIPATE?

Each project will be different in terms of participation. Try to include everyone in the house in at least one activity. Encourage your student to ask grandparents, friends, neighbors, and other community members to participate as needed.

WHAT SUPPLIES ARE NEEDED AND PROVIDED?

Supplies needed for every activity are listed further in the presentation.

You will be provided with a packet containing two copies of every example, template, and any other handouts that you will need.

Come to the classroom if you need any additional handouts or supplies.

WHEN ARE THE ASSIGNMENTS DUE?

All of the assignments are due the last day of class before spring break. You can turn them in all at once or as you get them finished.

Page 9: Welcome 3 rd Grade Parents!

HOW IS THIS EVALUATED?

This Learning at Home Project is graded based on completion and participation – if it is turned in on time and well done, credit will be received. Every student with full credit on the project will have the opportunity to participate in our culminating project. The project is our end goal!
