FIRST READINGR: The first reading for Trinity Sunday

is written in Chapter eight of Proverbs beginning at verse one.

Proverbs 8:1-4,22-31 CEVWisdom's role in creation

Page 28: welcome

28

Proverbs 8:1-4,22-31R: With great understanding, Wisdom

is calling out 2 as she stands at the crossroads and on every hill. 3She stands by the city gate where everyone enters the city, and she shouts:

4"I am calling out to each one of you!

Page 29: welcome

29

Proverbs 8:1-4,22-3122From the beginning, I was with the

LORD. I was there before he began 23to create the earth.

At the very first, the LORD gave life to me.

24When I was born, there were no oceans or springs of water.

Page 30: welcome

30

Proverbs 8:1-4,22-3125My birth was before mountains were

formed or hills were put in place. 26It happened long before God had made the earth or any of its fields or even the dust.

27I was there when the LORD put the heavens in place and stretched the sky over the surface of the sea.

Page 31: welcome

31

Proverbs 8:1-4,22-3128I was with him when he placed the

clouds in the sky and created the springs that fill the ocean. 29I was there when he set boundaries for the sea to make it obey him, and when he laid foundations to support the earth.

Page 32: welcome

32

Proverbs 8:1-4,22-31• 30I was right beside the LORD,

helping him plan and build. I made him happy each day, and I was

happy at his side. 31 I was pleased with his world and

pleased with its people. This is the Word of the Lord.C: Thanks be to God.

33

Psalm 8 CEV R: The Psalm is Psalm 8. R: 1Our LORD and Ruler, your name is

wonderful everywhere on earth! You let your glory be seen in the

heavens above. C: 2With praises from children and

from tiny infants, you have built a fortress.

It makes your enemies silent, and all who turn against you are left speechless.

Page 34: welcome

34

Psalm 8 CEV R: 3I often think of the heavens your

hands have made, and of the moon and stars you put in

place. C: 4Then I ask, "Why do you care about us humans?

Why are you concerned for us weaklings?

Page 35: welcome

35

Psalm 8 CEV R: 5You made us a little lower than

you yourself, and you have crowned us with glory

and honour.C: 6You let us rule everything your

hands have made. And you put all of it under our

power.

Page 36: welcome

36

Psalm 8 CEV R: 7The sheep and the cattle, and

every wild animal, C: 8The birds in the sky, the fish in

the sea, and all ocean creatures. R: 9Our LORD and Ruler, your name is

wonderful everywhere on earth! C: Glory to the Father, and the Son,

and the Holy Spirit; As it was in the beginning is now

and will be for ever. Amen.

Second readingR: The second reading for today is

written in Chapter five of Romans beginning at verse one.

Romans 5:1-5 CEVThe Christian experience of the Trinity

Page 38: welcome

38

Romans 5:1-5  R: By faith we have been made

acceptable to God. And now, because of our Lord Jesus

Christ, we live at peace with God.2Christ has also introduced us to God's

undeserved kindness on which we take our stand.

So we are happy, as we look forward to sharing in the glory of God.

Page 39: welcome

39

Romans 5:1-5 3But that's not all! We gladly suffer, because we know

that suffering helps us to endure. 4And endurance builds character, which gives us a hope 5that will never disappoint us.

Page 40: welcome

40

Romans 5:1-5 All of this happens because God has

given us the Holy Spirit, who fills our hearts with his love.

This is the Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God.

Page 41: welcome

41

C: Alleluia.Jesus said: 'The Spirit will glorify

me, because he will take what is mine

gospelM: The Holy Gospel is written in

C: Glory to you, O Lord

John 16:12-15 CEVThe Spirit from God will bear witness to Jesus

Page 43: welcome

43

John 16:12-15M: 12I have much more to say to you,

but right now it would be more than you could understand. 13The Spirit shows what is true and will come and guide you into the full truth. The Spirit doesn't speak on his own. He will tell you only what he has heard from me, and he will let you know what is going to happen.

Page 44: welcome

44

John 16:12-1514The Spirit will bring glory to me by

taking my message and telling it to you. 15Everything that the Father has is mine. That is why I have said that the Spirit takes my message and tells it to you.
