HOMEWORK

There Is Homework EVERY Night! (But

it’s not all that bad…I promise.)

READING HOMEWORK

Reading:15-20 Minutes: Spend time with your child at home reading. Focus on pages, not so much on minutes: BUILDING STAMINA!

Reading at home every day will make all the difference in the world. (Not just in school…)

MATH HOMEWORK

Math: The Math Homework Book will come home most days. Each page should take about 15 minutes. If your student is having trouble with a sheet, please let me know. I am not looking for tears at the kitchen table!!

SPELLING?

Orton-Gillingham

Concepts and Practice, Not Word Lists: Suggestions, Red Words, and Sentence Concepts

“Test” on Friday: Did I learn the concept? Can I use it successfully in my writing?

Constant review.

I am not planning to send home a list to memorize and test on each week.

BIRTHDAY TREATS

Birthday Treats are fine. We will usually eat them at the end of the day.

CLASS PARTIES

Class Parties and Celebrations:

I would love to have some parent help with parties. Please see the volunteer/sign-in sheet.

PROGRESS REPORTS

If your student is struggling in a certain area, I will communicate with you at least once at mid quarter.
