Welcome Back!
Happy September to all students, families and friends of the Center for
Young Musicians! We are very excited to be starting a new school year of
fun, friends and music making.
Department group classes start this month! Please see the CYM calendar
for dates for when your instrument group meets, and take advantage of a
great opportunity to play with students of different abilities and styles.
Instrumental classes are Saturdays at 9 a.m. and voice class at 11 a.m. All
Department Group classes are open to all private lesson students, please
check the calendar for location.
Exciting performance opportunities are shaping up for the new school year!
Just a few highlights of the fall concert season are the guitar group
performing at the Young at Heart Benefit, a performance at WT North’s
Applefest, our annual concerts at the Wintergarden and Phipps and our all
school Ensemble Recital on November 8!
Please check our Take Note blog at cymtakenote.blogspot.com for more
information about all these performances, and more. You may also submit
photos, video, or good news during the year about your CYM student to
Autumn at [email protected] to add to the blog!

In Wexford, please remember to back into your parking space. This is very
important for safety with children around. Please refer to the parking
diagram on the bulletin board.
You will receive a link to the Contact Preferences and Media Release form
in September. Please fill out promptly so that we, and your teachers, know
best how to contact you.
- your CYM Administration and Staff
A music education is not truly fulfilled without the immersion of a
student in his or her musical community.
At CYM, providing our families and affiliates direct access to opportunities
for learning, performing, and experiencing music is essential to developing
well-rounded and inspired musicianship. Students at every age are invited to
tap in to their inner artist, performer, critic, and audience member, providing
invaluable context to their perspective as growing musicians and as people.
Participating in workshops and activities outside of a regular class and lesson
routine during the school year affords students and their families a chance to
enrich their relationship with both music and engage in the wonderful cultur-
al offerings available in our Pittsburgh Region.
We achieve this goal by offering the
CYM Workshops and Activities Program
