    Arrangements for buying food

Healthy food is available during 1st and 2nd break. The schooloperates a biometric system for all food and drink bought in theschool canteens. Arrangements for this are detailed below.

Students may not leave the school premises at break times.

    Biometric Cashless System

The school is operating a Biometric Cashless Catering System. Students will nolonger need to carry cards and allows parents to limit how much a child canspend each day. The system stops the need for students to carry cash andcan give a breakdown of the items purchased if required. Money can beloaded onto your childs account via revaluation machines in school usingthe machine in the Atrium. This can be done before morning school or

during break. Cash is placed directly into the machine or cheques (madepayable to AIP) can be given to the Canteen Manager.

In September 2013 we will start to introduce Parent Pay to further help parents inthis process.

More information on the Biometric System can be found on the school website.

Children receiving free school meals will automatically have their accounts creditedwith 2.10 per day, which must be spent on a daily basis. However, additionalmoney can be placed on their accounts if parents wish.

Students may not leave the schoolpremises at break times.

    School Meals

If you have any objection to the school using yourchilds biometric data you will need to complete a

letter which is in your pack and return to the FinanceDepartment.

    FORM TUTORS

At Kingsbury School, we care about students social development.

Our first concern with Year 7 students is to help them to become confident and effectivemembers of Kingsbury Schools community.

Each student is a member of a Form Group. In Year 7, these groups are called

    7K 7I 7N 7G 7S 7B 7U

Each Form Group is mixed ability and will have a tutor who will be the first point of

    contact for students.

The Form Tutors encourage members of the Form to have excellent attendance andpunctuality, to bring equipment and homework diaries, to wear full school uniform, totake part in school activities and to make good/outstanding progress in all school areas.

A student who has any concern about school should discuss it firstly with their FormTutor. The work of the Form Tutors is co-ordinated by an Achievement Leader, who isresponsible for the overall welfare of the students in the Year Group.

Any parent who has a concern about any aspect of their childs education during theschool year, should contact the Form Tutors by telephoning the school on0121 373 1080. If it is a matter of urgency, please call Mr Brotherton, Year 7Achievement Leader.

Should you need to visit the school urgently you must phone ahead to make anappointment as staff have teaching commitments.

During the first term, you will be invited to talk to your childs Form Tutor about how he/she is settling into Kingsbury School and Sports College.

Students are expected to be prepared for learning and have high expectations. Thismeans being in uniform, with equipment, a bag, a planner, ready to work hard andcooperate. In and out of lessons they should follow staff instructions, show care andconsideration for others and take responsibility for their own behaviour. To helpthem do this we offer rewards to encourage positive behaviour and apply sanctionswhen necessary.

    Rewards

The school recognises that students are more motivated and responsive when theyare encouraged and their achievements are rewarded and celebrated. As a school,we develop a culture of celebration and praise. We encourage all students todevelop five personal qualities which will support their learning and socialdevelopment. These are known as PACER. Students are rewarded fordemonstrating these qualities, both in and out of lessons, using a rewards systemcalled our Vivo Miles.

Vivo is a revolutionary new way of keeping all students motivated to earn rewardsand work towards their potential. Students earn points called Vivos, an artificialcurrency that can be cashed in for a whole selection of rewards from trips to queuejump passes. Top earners will be presented with Gold Vivo cards and a wholerange of privileges as a result. An automatic text messaging system lets you knowwhen your child has been rewarded. In addition, each student has an accountwhich is updated immediately and can be accessed by you and your child at anytime you wish.

lessons, these include: verbal warning, moving seats, last out of the room, shortdetention (10mins).

Stage 2If the problems continue then it will be referred to the appropriate Curriculum Leaderor Achievement Leader. They may apply the next level of sanction e.g. 30 minutedepartmental detention, departmental report card or isolate the student for the restof the lesson. A standard letter is available to inform parents of detention and atleast 24 hours notice should be given.

    Stage 3

If disruption is at such a level as to cause serious concern, the issue will be referredto the appropriate Achievement Leader or patrol staff who isolate the student beforeconsidering the next steps. This may involve contact with parents, isolation for theday or possible exclusion.

Stage 4: Persistent poor behaviour will be referred to the Director of Key Stage orDeputy Headteacher and is likely to lead to exclusion or time in the Learning Zone.
