WELCOME!
I would first like to welcome all of the “COMFAUNA Community of Scientists” and Neo-tropical animal “aficionados” to the XICIMFAUNA. You have been a committed group of individuals who have kept your focus on Amazonian, Latin American and Neo-tropical animals. Secondly I would like to welcome all newcomers to the CIMFAUNA. It has been a special privilege for us in Trinidad and Tobago to have been allowed by the COMFAUNA community to be given the opportunity to host the Congress for the first time outside of the South American continent. I would like to thank you for putting your trust in us. The collaborators within the Open Tropical Forage-Animal Production Laboratory [OTF-APL], Department of Food Production [DFP], Faculty of Food and Agriculture [FFA] of the University of the West Indies [UWI], The University of Trinidad and Tobago [UTT] and the Ministry of Food Production of Trinidad and Tobago [MFPT&T] have tried our best to make this a good Congress for you to attend. At this XICIMFAUNA we have attempted to have the Mini-courses/Mini-coursos focus on the intensive production of some key Neo-tropical animal species. This is the topic to be covered by the Feature Presentation or First “Ponencia Magistral”/“Palestra Magna”/”Expert Lecture” of this conference. I close by drawing your attention to the XICIMFAUNA Logo that represents the integration of the “animals” and the “culture” of Trinidad and Tobago. The “Steel Pan”, which is the National Instrument of Trinidad and Tobago, was developed here in the Neo-tropics in Trinidad and Tobago specifically. The “animals” are also truly neo-tropical. I hope that you will enjoy the XICIMFAUNA and that it would be a memorable experience for you. Professor Gary Wayne Garcia President of the XICIMFAUNA 2014 Trinidad and Tobago
¡BIENVENIDOS!

Colaboradores de diversos órgãos, como Open Tropical Forage-Animal Production Laboratory [OTF-APL], Department of Food Production [DFP], Faculty of Food and Agriculture [FFA] da University of the West Indies [UWI], The University of Trinidad and Tobago [UTT] e do Ministry of Food Production [MFP], dedicaram-se ao máximo para viabilizar este congresso. Professor Gary Wayne Garcia Presidente do XICIMFAUNA 2014 Trinidad e Tobago
