Main Facility
Dartmouth Finishing Site
Transportation Corridor
• 1,000 ft of new bulkhead built to sustain loads of 4,000 pounds per square foot
• Deep dredge draft to 32 ft in front of bulkhead
• Approx. 28 acres of assembly and lay-down area
• Clean-up of approx. 250,000 cubic yards of low-level contaminated sediment
• Creation of Environmental & Habitat Restoration Areas

Land-based Construction – Late June: Completed installation of erosion controls
– Late June: Completed clearing and grubbing at Main Site
– July: Begin to Excavate and Dispose Off-site of “Hot Spot” Contamination on Main Site

obstructions along Terminal bulkhead
– July: Begin additional borings along bulkhead alignment for the piles that will be drilled into the bedrock
Dredging
– May - August: Dredge Bottom of CAD Cell 3
– July: Begin Capping Winter Flounder Area
– August: Begin Dredging at Terminal Site
• Soil impacted by PCBs > 50 ppm
• ~ 1,500 yd3 of material
• An area of ~ 13,000 sq ft

• Work to be completed by Mill City Environmental (MBE)
• Excavated and disposed offsite to Michigan

• Close and insulate engine doors of dredge.
• Slow the bucket as it is opened, closed, and lowered to minimize the clap against the water.
• Remove grizzly screen (a strainer-like device) so that noise is lessened when material is dumped on barge.
• Replace the dredge bucket with a digging bucket that the dredge operator can control more precisely in order to minimize noise
• Some progress noted. Continuing to address complaints
• Cashman-Weeks NB brought another dredge barge to accelerate construction of CAD Cell 3
• “AJ Fournier” entered the Harbor June 24, 2013
– Hydraulic dredge bucket
• Cashman-Weeks NB expects to accelerate work on CAD Cell 3 – hopes to finish 20 to 30 days earlier
