On behalf of the organising committee, it gives me immense pleasure to write this welcome message.

Following its tradition, the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Malaysia (OGSM) will be holding the 28th International Congress of the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Malaysia from the 23rd to the 26th of July 2020 at the One World Hotel in Petaling Jaya.

We live in an era where the art and science of Obstetrics and Gynaecology are rapidly evolving and we now have technology and medical advances which allow us to improve the provision of care in Maternity Health and Womens’ Health in general. With this in mind, this year’s congress will be devoted to “Advancing Knowledge, Enhancing Practice “.

This conference promises to be exciting and offers a broad range of highly interactive sessions and lectures from experts sharing their latest knowledge and experience. A comprehensive multidisciplinary programme has been assembled, and will be presented by a well-selected national and international faculty.

It is the organising committee’s hope that the conference will also serve as a platform to meet fellow key decision makers in the health care industry, to share experiences and foster collaborations.

The annual congress of the Obstetrical & Gynaecological society of Malaysia is the premier educational event in our speciality. In keeping with the theme of “Advancing Knowledge, Enhancing Practice” the scientific programme has been carefully crafted to provide the latest information and advances in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in an easy to understand, practical form so that clinical practice can be enhanced and improved.

The academic content is the most important aspect of any scientific congress and having a good faculty is critical. The faculty that has been chosen are renowned international and local experts.

There will be 13 Plenary lectures covering current issues over the whole spectrum of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In addition, a unique feature of this congress will be a series of Masterclasses that will run throughout the congress. These Masterclasses, conducted by experienced teachers will be on Pre-invasive Disease of the Cervix, Obstetric and Gynaecological Ultrasound, Infertility and Laparoscopic Surgery.

The Asia and Oceania Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (AOFOG) will be conducting a session on Gynaecological Cancer in Pregnancy. There will be the usual symposia and meet the experts sessions plus a special session on educational surgical videos.

Pre-congress workshops in various fields including for nurses, pelvic floor ultrasound, and an AOFOG - Asian Society of Gynaecological Oncology workshop on gynaecological cancer will be held on Thursday, the 23rd of July 2020.
