Have You Noticed? – For the past several months the priestsin our parish have been encouraging us to kneel after theLamb of God, which is contrary to our long tradition ofstanding before the reception of Communion. Why thechange? Kneeling at this point in the Mass is the mostLiturgically appropriate posture. We kneel after the “Holy,Holy, Holy” because we are praying the Eucharistic prayerwhere the bread and wine on the altar become the Body andBlood of Christ. Christ’s physical presence at the altarcompels us to kneel. He is our savior and we are his humbleand imperfect disciples. We stand for the “Our Father” and the“Sign of Peace” because those are moments when we as thecongregation are actively engaging in dialogue (prayer) withChrist present in the Eucharist, in the community, and at theright hand of the Father. When our active prayer is over (afterthe “Lamb of God”), Christ is still present on the altar in theEucharist, and so we are invited to continue kneeling in thepresence of our living God. It is only after Communion, whenthe Eucharist has been consumed or placed in the Tabernacle, that the congregation sits for now Christ resides in each of usas we prepare to share his love in the world during the weekahead. Kneeling after the Lamb of God is not an arbitrary newrule that the Church created, but rather a respectful way topray before the one who gives us eternal life.

To Ensure Your Child(ren)'s Safety, please accompany them tothe restroom during Mass. Thank you!

Help a Neighbor in Need

With the holidays approaching, we are in need of

people to provide Thanksgiving and Christmas meals

for families in need - by purchasing groceries - YOU

DO NOT COOK THE MEAL! At this time we are

focusing primarily on Thanksgiving. If you are willing

to assist in this endeavor, please contact Rosemary in

the Parish Office at extension 213 or by e-mail

([email protected]). She will take your contact

information (name, phone, and e-mail) and send you

all the details in writing. She will also ask you to

specify the approximate family size you are willing to

provide for. Parishioners are asked to purchase a

turkey and all the trimmings and to drop them off at

the Parish Office on Tuesday, November 22nd,

between 3:00pm and 5:00pm. This outreach is being

provided by the parish, in conjunction with Our Lady’s

Saint Vincent de Paul Society. Thank you for your

willingness to share your resources with those in need.
