Dear Student and Family Member,

Welcome to Jaguar Nation Welcome, Orientation 2013 at Georgia Regents University! We are very excited that you are here and look forward to spending the day with you. Our orientation program has been designed to prepare the student for college life at GRU and to assist family members and parents in better understanding their students’ transition to college. We encourage you to take full advantage of all the programs offered so that the students’ first semester can begin with all questions answered and full of knowledge about GRU!

In these pages, you will find both the student and family orientation schedule. You will notice that some programs are the same for students and family members, while others are different.

Students: As you see, the schedule is full of programs and presentations; you will leave orientation having learned a lot about being a student at GRU. Please be sure to attend all programs–we will expect to see you there.

Family Members: We ask that you please refrain from attending the student-only programs and attend only those that are designated for family members. Orientation is a period of intense learning for everyone. Students will learn about many academic issues, like registration, that they will have to remember for use throughout their college career. We find that if they attend these programs on their own, students retain the information better and longer. All the information that students are given will be shared throughout the family member program, and you will have plenty of time to speak with your student about his or her academic schedule.

You will meet the 2013 Orientation Leaders today; these students are leaders among their fellow students and have been selected to work with new students because of their knowledge of GRU, their leadership skills, and their love for the school. They are here to assist everyone through the orientation process, so feel free to ask them anything!

We wish all students the best as they begin thier academic career at Georgia Regents University! All family members, we hope that you enjoy orientation and, most importantly, leave feeling comfortable and excited that your student is beginning school at Georgia Regents University. Please know that the Orientation Staff will always be available to you if any needs arise. Have a great orientation and best wishes as you all embark on this journey! Sincerely,

The Orientation Staff
