Call to Worship Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want
The Lord makes me lie down in green pastures; and leads me beside still waters.
The Lord restores my soul and leads me in right paths.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for the Lord is with
me;
The Lord prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long.
Opening Prayer Richard B. Culp
*Hymn 39 Great Is Thy Faithfulness FAITHFULNESS
Prayer of Confession (unison)
God of great mercy, we confess that we have sinned against you. You have promised to
never forsake us; yet we cling to fear rather than trust in you. You provide our daily
bread; still we hunger for other things. The birds sing out; yet we close our ears to their
song. Forgive us, God of grace. Create a clean heart within us, teach us your holy way,
and restore the joy of salvation that we might follow your light through Jesus Christ
our Lord. Amen (Time of silent confession).
Declaration of Pardon Friends, believe the good news of the Gospel.
In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Thanks be to God!
The Call to Faithfulness Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is
this: when God is revealed, we will be like God, for we will see God as God is. And all who have this
hope in God purify themselves, just as God is pure.
*Sung Response Hymn 585 Glory to God, glory to God, glory in the highest! Glory to God, glory to God, glory to Christ Jesus!
Glory to God, glory to God, glory to the Spirit! To God be glory forever! To God be glory forever!

FAITHFULNESS11.10.11.10 with refrain
Written as a meditation on Lamentations 3:22–23, this text is one of the few hymns among the 1200 poems bythis Methodist writer and pastor that has gained much currency. The tune that appears here was composedespecially for these words, and the pairing has proved enduring.

medications...grab my kitty some kibble." Email the deacons at diaco-

od, your address and phone number and we will help locate a volunteer to courier your item
to you. This will be a no contact delivery. The volunteer will ring your doorbell and leave the
item for you on your porch.
Want to participate? Email the deacon email your contact information if you are willing to
participate in this ministry as a volunteer.

The first woman to publish a collection of her own anthems, this author/composer has created in this hymna sung prayer for illumination. It not only asks God to help us understand Scripture but also prays for thestrength and courage to make God’s love known to others.

My Shepherd Will Supply My NeedLIVING AND DYING IN CHRIST

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________TEXT: Isaac Watts, 1719, alt.MUSIC: U.S.A. folk melody; Lewis’s Beauties of Harmony, 1828; harm. Dale Grotenhuis, 1986Music Harm. © 1990 Dale Grotenhuis
RESIGNATIONCMD
(alternate harmonization, 74)
The effectiveness of this beloved paraphrase of Psalm 23 owes much to the flowing shape note melody thatserves as a “living stream” to carry the text, which in turn has been given a remarkable clarity and lightnessthrough the poet’s masterful use of single-syllable words.

Call to Worship Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want
The Lord makes me lie down in green pastures; and leads me beside still waters.
The Lord restores my soul and leads me in right paths.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for the Lord is with
me;
The Lord prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
