*TRINITY CHIMES

*COLLECT

Purify our conscience, Almighty God, by your daily visitation, that your Son Jesus Christ, at his coming, may find in us a mansion prepared for himself; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

*HYMN OF PRAISE O Come, All Ye Faithful 234

LIGHTING OF THE ADVENT WREATH Marie and Rob Patterson

Today is the fourth Sunday of Advent. The Savior’s birth draws closer. On this Sunday, we light the remaining purple candle as a symbol of Christ, the embodiment of Love. May the Word made flesh nourish our deepest hunger and promote our grateful response.

(The purple candle is lit.)

Please join me in prayer.

Lord God, we are glad that Jesus came to live among us. Restore in us unconditional love, and rekindle our faith. Help us to let his love reign in our hearts. Amen.

* AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Apostles’ Creed 881

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth;

And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

*GLORIA 71

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.

ContriBute Sharing life’s struggles is fundamental to the way followers of Christ are called to live. As Paul challenged us, “Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ” (Gal. 6:2). By working together through

life’s challenges we can help to strengthen and support one another when times are hard. By expressing toward one another care and affection, the difficulties of life should draw us to Christ and to each other. Prayer: Thank you for creating our need for one another. Help us to find the place you’ve made for us in your body. It’s now possible to give financially online through the church website, BuncombeStreetUMC.org. From the main menu, choose “Give”.If you have given stock or plan to give stock before the end of the year, please call BSUMC Bookeeper, Nancy Gobble at 864-371-6087. She needs the name and number of shares in order for your gift to be credited on your account. endowment Fund
