EACH STUDENT IS REQUIRED TO SIGN A CODE OF CONDUCT

DRESS CODE

STUDENTS SHOULD TUCK IN THEIR SHIRTS AT ALL TIMES. (exceptions are allowed please check with AP-Dean of Discipline)

WEAR HSA UNIFORM SHIRT

ALL STUDENTS SHOULD WEAR DARK COLORED BELTS AT ALL TIMES.

STUDENTS NOT WEARING A BELT WILL borrow one from me and return at end of school day,

ALL STUDENTS:

NO TATTOOS, BODY PIERCINGS, BODY WRITINGS, SUNGLASSES, WALLETS WITH LONG CHAINS, HATS OR bandana’s or any OTHER HEADGEAR

DRESS CODE VIOLATIONS

IF YOU CAN FIX THE DRESS CODE VIOLATION AT SCHOOL, THEN YOU ARE DIRECTED TO DO SO IMMEDIATELY AND DPS POINTS WILL BE ISSUED

IF YOU CANNOT FIX THE DRESS CODE VIOLATION AT SCHOOL, THEN YOU WILL BE SENT TO THE FRONT OFFICE TO CALL YOUR PARENT TO BRING A CHANGE OF CLOTHES AND DPS POINTS WILL BE ISSUED. YOU WILL BE PLACED IN ISS UNTIL THE PROBLEMS ARE CORRECTED.

ALL STUDENTS MUST WEAR ID BADGES AT ALL TIMES

We will issue these in September

DPS POINTS WILL BE ISSUED FOR NOT HAVING OR NOT WEARING ID BADGE

IF YOU LOSE YOUR ID BADGE, YOU MUST REPLACE IT AT THE FRONT OFFICE FOR $5.00

YOU CAN NOT PUT STICKERS OR WRITE/COLOR ON YOUR ID BADGE. YOU WILL RECEIVE DPS POINTS AND YOU WILL NEED TO REPLACE IT

ALL STUDENTS ARE TO STAY IN THE CAFETERIA. DO NOT GO BACK OUTSIDE AND DO NOT GO INTO THE HALLWAYS

Dismissal for 1st period is 7:20 am

ELECTRONIC DEVICES/CELL PHONESELECTRONIC DEVICES (CELL PHONES, E-READERS) ARE

TO BE STORED IN LOCKERS AND MUST BE TURNED OFF.

YOU ARE NOT TO USE ANY ELECTRONIC DEVICE WHILE ON CAMPUS, INCLUDING AT YOUR LOCKERS OR IN THE CAFETERIA (THIS MEANS BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL TOO)

ANY STAFF MEMBER WILL CONFISCATE YOUR ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND YOUR PARENT WILL NEED TO COME TO THE SCHOOL TO PICK IT UP AND PAY A FEE. YOU WILL ALSO RECEIVE DISCIPLINE CONSEQUENCES

Consequences:

1st Offense: Parents/guardian contacted. Confiscation of the devices with retrieval only by parents/guardian along with a $10 fee. HSA is not responsible for the confiscated items which are not received one week after confiscation.

2nd Offense: Parents/guardian contacted. Up to Two (2) day suspension. Device will be confiscated and device will be given to parent along with a $20 fee. HSA is not responsible for the confiscated items which are not received one week after the last day of school.

3rd Offense: Parents/guardian contacted. Up to Three (3) day suspension. Possible expulsion. Device will be confiscated and device will be given to parent on the last day of school along with a $40 fee. HSA is not responsible for confiscated items which are not received one week after the last day of school

Violate computer policies

Load private software/tamper with computers

Use to communicate threats, bully, or inappropriate material

Send, post, or view inappropriate material

Encourage illegal behavior

WHAT IS BULLYING?Bullying is intentional aggressive behavior. It can take the

form of physical or verbal harassment and involves an imbalance of power (a group of children can gang up on a victim or someone who is physically bigger or more aggressive can intimidate someone else, for instance).

Bullying behavior can include teasing, insulting someone (particularly about their weight or height, race, sexuality, religion or other personal traits), shoving, hitting, excluding someone, or gossiping about someone.

Bullying can cause a victim to feel upset, afraid, ashamed, embarrassed, and anxious about going to school. It can involve children of any age, including younger elementary grade-schoolers and even kindergarteners. Bullying behavior is frequently repeated unless there is intervention.

WHAT IS NOT BULLYING?

Not liking someone

Being excluded

Accidentally bumping into someone

Making someone play things “your way”

A single act of telling a joke about someone

Arguments

Expression of unpleasant thoughts about someone else

Isolated acts of meanness

SCHOOL WIDE RULESEach student is expected to:

Demonstrate courtesy and respect, even when/if others do not.

Behave in a responsible manner, always exercising self-discipline/control.

Attend all classes, regularly and on time.

Be prepared for each class; take appropriate materials and assignments to class.

Meet district as well as campus standards for grooming and dress.

Obey all campus and classroom rules.

Respect the rights and privileges of all students, teachers, and other district staff as well as volunteers.

Respect the property of others, including district property and facilities.

Cooperate with and assist school personnel, including volunteers, in maintaining safety, order, and discipline.

Adhere to all requirements of the currently adopted Student Code of Conduct.

WHAT ARE DPS POINTS?

DISCIPLINE POINT SYSTEM

TEACHERS/FACULTY CAN ASSIGN POINTS TO ANY BEHAVIOR. FOR EXAMPLE, EXCESSIVE TALKING IS 3 DPS POINTS.

YOU WILL GET A DPS REPORT EVERY WEDNESDAY

10 DPS POINTS = AFTER SCHOOL OR SATURDAY DETENTION

0 POINTS IN 5 CONSECUTIVE DAYS= -5 DPS POINTS UNTIL YOU HAVE 0 POINTS

WHEN YOU SERVE A DETENTION= -5 DPS POINTS

WHAT ARE PRS POINTS?

POSITIVE REWARD SYSTEM

YOU GET + POINTS FOR POSITIVE BEHAVIOR

FOR EXAMPLE: HELPING A FELLOW STUDENT IS 3 PRS

PRS CAN CANCEL OUT DPS IF IT IS ISSUED FROM THE SAME TEACHER

ACCUMULATING HIGH NUMBERS OF PRS MAY RESULT IN FREE DRESS DAYS, GIFT CARDS, OR OTHER REWARDS

WHAT ARE DPS POINTS?

10-19 POINTS= Possible Lunch or Saturday

20-39 POINTS= Saturday Detention

40-49 POINTS= 1 DAY IN SCHOOL SUSPENSION

50-74 POINTS= 1 DAY OUT OF SCHOOL SUSPENSION

75-89 POINTS= 3 DAYS OUT OF SCHOOL SUSPENSION

90 PLUS POINTS= POSSIBLE EXPULSION

LUNCH

REPORT TO THE CAFETERIA FOR LUNCH ON TIME

We will be sitting at ASSIGNED TABLE AND WAIT TO BE CALLED UP TO PURCHASE LUNCH

RAISE HANDS TO GET UP

YOU MAY NOT LEAVE THE CAFETERIA DURING LUNCH FOR ANY REASON (UNLESS YOU HAVE A PASS FROM A TEACHER)

GO THROUGH LUNCH LINE AND BE SEATED

CLEAN UP YOUR AREA, INCLUDING THE FLOOR

DO NOT ALLOW ANY OTHER STUDENT TO USE YOUR ID BADGE TO BUY LUNCH

DO NOT TALK LOUDLY

REMAIN QUIET WHEN ASKED FOR SILENT LUNCH

SIT WITH YOUR GRADE LEVEL DURING LUNCH

LOCKERS-NEW BUILDING

LOCKERS WILL BE ISSUED TO ALL STUDENTS

LOCKERS ARE SCHOOL PROPERTY, ANY WRITING ON OR INSIDE LOCKERS IS PROHIBTED

DO NOT STICK ANY KIND OF STICKERS ON THE INSIDE OF YOUR LOCKER

STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO USE THEIR OWN LOCK. LOCKS WILL BE PROVIDED AT ORIENTATION

CLEAN OUT YOUR LOCKER ON A REGULAR BASIS

ALL MEDICATION MUST BE TURNED IN TO THE NURSE WITH PARENT PERMISSION

STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN A CLASSROOM WHEN TEACHERS ARE NOT PRESENT
