Parish News & Events

Let us pray for those members of our parish who are sick and suffering. If you would like a visit from Fr. Patrick, please call the parish office at 630-851-1436 to schedule a visit. We congratulate the following children who will make they First Holy Communion this weekend: Charlotte Marshall, Sally Skrivan, Blakely Recker, Emma Deppe, and Mallory Cibulka. Our parish has joined a Catholic website called FORMED. This website is loaded with articles, videos, eBooks, and much more—all of which are thoroughly Catholic. You simply go to this website: https://formed.org (This is a secure site, which is why there is an “s” in the address). Once there, there will be a spot to enter our parish access code, which is 6MMWKC. We have unlimited access to everything on the site. I hope that you take advantage of this site, and pray that it will be ben-eficial to you. Fr. Patrick

Rediscovering Your Catholic Faith From the Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church PART ONE: THE PROFESSION OF FAITH Section One: “I Believe”--”We Believe” Chapter Two: God Comes to Meet Man The Revelation of God 9. What is the full and definitive stage of God’s Revelation? The full and definitive stage of God’s revelation is accomplished in his Word made flesh, Jesus Christ, the mediator and fullness of Revelation. He, being the only-be-gotten Son of God made man, is the perfect and definitive Word of the Father. In the sending of the Son and the gift of the Spirit, Revelation is now fully complete, although the faith of the Church must gradually grasp is full significance over the course of centuries.

“In giving us his Son, his only and definitive Word, God spoke everything to us at once in this sole Word, and he has no more to say.” (Saint John of the Cross)

10. What is the value of private revelation? While not belonging to the deposit of faith, private revelation may help a person to live the faith as long as they lead us to Christ. The Magisterium of the Church, which has the duty of evaluating such private revelations, cannot ac-cept those which claim to surpass or correct that definitive Revelation which is Christ. The Transmission of Divine Revelation Why and in what way is divine revelation transmitted? God “desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:4), that is, of Jesus Christ. For this reason, Christ must be proclaimed to all according to his own command, “Go forth and teach all na-tions” (Matthew 28:19). And this is brought about by Apostolic Tradition. 112. What is Apostolic Tradition? Apostolic Tradition is the transmission of the message of Christ, brought about from the very beginnings of Christi-anity by means of preaching, bearing witness, institutions, worship, and inspired writings. The Apostles transmitted all they received from Christ and learned from the Holy Spirit to their successors, the bishops, and through them to all generations until the end of the world. 13. In what ways does Apostolic Tradition occur? Apostolic Tradition occurs in two ways: through the living transmission of the word of God (also simply called Tra-dition) and through Sacred Scripture which is the same proclamation of salvation in written form. 14. What is the relationship between Tradition and Sacred Scripture The Apostles entrusted the deposit of faith to the whole Church. Thanks to its supernatural sense of faith the people of God as a whole, assisted by the Holy Spirit and guided by the Magisterium of the Church, never ceases to wel-come, to penetrate more deeply and to live more fully from the gift of divine revelation.

High School News Why Marmion? Every Thursday evening at 7:00 PM prospective families are invited to a live Zoom series to learn about the Marmi-on Advantage from students, faculty and administration. Please visit marmion.org/whymarmion for details. TRUST Keys hold great significance for those who carry them. They represent the trust and authority of the owner when given to another person. We may give our house key to a trusted friend to take care of our matters while we are away. We may give keys to someone responsible for maintaining or working in a particular building. Keys to vehicles are given to people who have proven themselves responsible drivers. The readings today focus on this kind of trust—the trust that conveys authority and responsibility. In the first reading, the symbol is specifically that of a key; but the second reading and the Gospel also speak of trust and leadership as they refer to the earthly church that Jesus established.
