Graduation Requirements Students must:

150 minutes a week of DPA – documentation handed into TP 12 teacher at end of each term.

30 hours work and/or volunteer experience outside of school

** minimum of 16 credits are required at the Grade 12 level, including a Language Arts 12 and GT

Graduation Transitions (4 credits)

Four credits for Graduation Transitions: encourage students to:

1. Take ownership of their health & learning

2. Examine and demonstrate connections between student’s learning and their future

3. Create a plan for their growth and development as a skilled, healthy, knowledgeable, participating citizen

Transition Planning 12 (2 credits)

In order to receive credit for Transition Planning (TP) 12, students must:

1. Attend all TP 12 classes and complete assignments.

2. Attend at least 2 lunch hour presentations3. Complete an Argyle Graduation

Presentation, April 16 & 17th4. Complete a minimum of 30 hours of work

or volunteer experience5. Complete 150 minutes/week of moderate

to vigorous physical activity

Applying to Post Secondary Institutions & Early Admission

In BC:Admissions deadlines: January 15 UBC, February 28 SFU, February 28 Uvic, March 1 TRU, March 31 Cap U, College and BCIT deadlines are program specific All Applications for BC are completed

on line at educationplannerbc.ca Decision of acceptance usually

Applying to Post Secondary

Keep in mind the application deadlines

Many universities base initial acceptance on 2nd TERM grades (Term 2 ends March 2nd

2018~report cards distributed March 8th, 2018). In TP12 , students go online to complete a Post-

Secondary Institutions Choices form (PSI) which will allow universities in Canada to access transcript information from the Ministry of Education.

Application Fee – ranges from $40 to $155 per institution

What About My Grades? Admission Averages

GPA is based on specific Grade 12 courses – it varies from institution to institution (depends on the specific program requirements of each institution)

Self-reporting grades 1st Term Grades—honour system

Electronic transmission of grades to the Ministry of Education 2nd Term Grades PSI ~ Post Secondary Institutes Choices Form - link available

beginning November 2017 and completed before June 30, 2018 Min. of Ed. automatically forwards transcript data to the BC and Canadian Institutes of the student’s choice.

Final Grades – July 31st

Registration for classes – may be based on GPA – generally first choice goes to students with the highest GPA

Language Proficiency Index Almost every post secondary institution has some sort

of “English Language Proficiency” test. Be sure to check websites

The most common is the Language Proficiency Index (LPI )

register online at www.lpitest.ca There will be one LPI exam sitting at Argyle in April

after school. Date and Location TBA. Cost approx. $135 plus tax No walk-ins. Students must register online @

www.lpitest.ca before April 1st,2017.

AcceptanceConditional Grades meet GPA for early admission

Accepted if grades stay the same in August

It is very unlikely that an acceptance will later be withdrawn

What may vary is when you hear of acceptance

Unconditional GPA is usually very high

You are in!

If GPA is really high, a scholarship may be offered

and timelines now! United States https://www.collegeboard.org/ and

www.commonapp.org American Universities determine the eligibility of

applicants by their Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) results combined with their High School marks (gr. 8 – 12).

You should write your SAT ASAP if you are planning to attend a U.S. university.

Path to Teacher Education Scholarship – 20 scholarships for $5000 for students who have shown aptitude/commitment for a career path in teaching

Entrance Scholarships

Post-Secondary Institutes offer a variety of awards to students entering their 1st year.

Application form and marks in the 85-90% range along with community involvement are required.

Some major entrance awards require community service and nomination from Argyle

Local Scholarships

There is a small pool of available scholarships and bursaries decided at the school level by Argyle’s Scholarship Committee ($250 - $2000)

Application online General criteria includes:

academic standing volunteer service within the school/citizenship extracurricular involvement within the school

Argyle Awards – Eligibility To be eligible for Argyle Awards

applicants must: Be enrolled in a minimum of 7 courses

(including Graduations Transitions) Have good character and citizenship Be enrolled in Grade 12 for the first time Be eligible to graduate Be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant Preference is given to students who have been

at Argyle for the past two years One study period is allowed Peak Performance students North Van DL students

Largest awards will go to the most worthy applicants Usually one award per student Selections made based on specific

criteria outlined for each award Some are non-academic awards AMA is separate from this selection Must prove registration in a post

secondary institution to claim award

Booklet Complete Online Application NO EDITS CAN BE MADE to this application once you
