The Big InvitationThe nights are drawing in, and it’s getting even more wet, so it’s pretty tempting to ‘pull up the draw bridge’, and to start the preparations for this year’s festivities. Christmas isn’t far off now, but I wonder what it might involve for you this time round?
For the church, the run-up to Advent and Christmas is always a busy time. We all ‘work our socks off’ to plan something good, that will bless the communities that we live in, and to prepare ourselves to hear ‘afresh’ the amazing story of the God who came to live amongst us as a human being... of the ‘Creator God’, who decided to get inside his own creation... so that he could understand it better. Why did he do it? Well, simply because he loved it so much. Join us, as we re-tell ‘his story!’

2017 Winter Warmth Appeal In a bad winter, 300 people die in Cumbria due to the effects of the cold weather, a fatality rate higher than most other areas of the UK and the elderly are among the most vulnerable. Cumbria Community Foundation’s Winter Warmth Appeal raises funds to help older people across the county stay protected from the cold weather.
The Winter Warmth Appeal, in partnership with Age UK across Cumbria, is now in its eighth year and in that time, through the warm generosity of others, has raised £630,000. More than a thousand people who struggle to afford to heat their homes benefit each year. This year thecharity hopes to raise £100,000 to help keep Cumbria’s most vulnerable warm and well this winter.
The cost of fuel is rising and there are many old, rural homes in Cumbria which cost more to keep warm. It’s becoming increasingly harder for people to afford to heat their homes, especially for those that no longer have a steady income. This is why the Winter Warmth Appeal has never been more important.

Cottage Wood Centre
Toddlers Group We meet weekly during the school term on Wednesdays 10am - 12 noon. We welcome babies and toddlers and the charge is £2.50 per adult. Snacks are served for the toddlers which includes fruit with Tea and Coffee and biscuits for the adults. There is a variety of toys and a craft session which adults enjoy too. It is a good opportunity to meet with other mums in our area. Come along and join us.
Craft Fare Will be held on Saturday 11th November and there is a good variety of local people selling their goods. A good opportunity to buy your Christmas presents which have been made locally. Teas / Coffee scones soup and cakes will be served throughout the day.
Take Tea Out On the second Thursday in the month which is 9th November meeting from 1.30pm with tea being served at 2.30pm. A full afternoon tea is served priced at £4 everyone welcome to join us. We have a regular group of people meeting a good after-noon out and no supper to make on your return home!
Movies and Munchies Meet on Friday 27th October at 7pm - 9pm. Youths with birthdays in January of year 6 are welcome to come along. We have a guest speaker who chooses a film and there will be a short discussion at the end of the evening. The tuck shop has a good variety of sweets popcorn and Cans of pop.
Cafe Style Worship We meet weekly at 5pm and it is a relaxed style of Worship. It is family friendly service and the children's area has various activities. Refreshments are served on arrival and are available during the service as required.
