About Cindy Dantzler
This is the start of my 36th year
of teaching. I taught fourth
grade for two years at the
start of my career, and then
moved to second grade here
at Stonegate where I have
been ever since. In my free
time I enjoy gardening,
cooking, walking my dog,
and Zumba. My favorite treat
is dark chocolate and ice
cream!

● Problem Based Learning
Why the Next Generation
Science Standards (NGSS)
Students have interactive science instruction that
promotes-
• analysis and interpretation of data
• critical thinking
• problem solving
• connections across science disciplines
What is different about NGSS?
Students have the opportunity to-
• create their own investigations
• develop models to explain phenomena and solve
problems
• reason and support their conclusions with evidence
• use science to solve real problems
• engage in learning connecting engineering and
science practices and concepts

Snack Time (around 10:30 each day)• Please provide a simple, healthy snack (no peanut or tree nut items)
Birthday CelebrationsWe will celebrate shark birthdays at Stonegate by announcing your child’s name on morning announcements and giving him or her a special birthday pencil. DUE TO ALLERGY CONCERNS, we will no longer allow food items to be brought in. However, classes will still celebrate with singing. Parents can bring a trinket to share with the class, if they choose. Some examples could be stickers, pencils, small toys, or a class book or game donation in honor of the birthday child. Celebrations will continue to happen at
the end of the school day.
Classroom Celebrations• We will celebrate with a party for Halloween/Autumn, Valentine’s Day, and the End-
of-the-Year. Room Parents will organize these parties. A donation of $20 will be requested from families.
