What is the PTO?The PTO is a non-profit volunteer organization comprised of dedicated parents, guardians and teachers working together to enrich the experience of all Deer Run Elementary students with activities and programs that promote education, socialization and community involvement.
How can I become a member of the PTO? As the parent or guardian of a child at Deer Run Elementary, you are automatically a member of the PTO.
How do I learn more about volunteer opportunities? There are two ways to volunteer. 1. Our new, simple way to volunteer is to join the Helping Hands Group at: drepto/helping-hands-group. Fill out this quick online form to receive occasional emails throughout the year with detailed volunteer opportunities. If you see an opportunity that interests you, you can sign up via the link in the email. See the next page for additional information.
2. If you have a specific committee you are interested in, simply fill out a quick online form. drepto/committees. You can play a supporting role in planning the Deer Run Run, Back to School Bash, Country Fair, Teacher Ra�e or Teacher Appreciation Week. How does the PTO raise money to benefit our students learning experience?There are 3 ways the PTO raises money: 1. The annual PTO Pledge drive 2. Fundraisers like The Deer Run Run, Country Fair, The Teacher Ra�e and Loyalty/Rewards Programs 3. Corporate donations.
Can my company make a contribution or sponsor an event? Yes and yes! If you own a business, or work for an interested company, you can make a donation at any time. Your company can also sponsor a prize or event and we will promote your business in our event advertising and on our website. How do I make a monetary contribution to the PTO?Donating to the PTO is as easy as going to mkt.com/dre-pto-store or making a check payable to Deer Run PTO and sending it to school with your child.
How does the PTO spend the money they raise?The PTO spends money on new iPads and Chromebooks so all students have access to up to date devices. Money is spent on playground equipment, visiting authors, artists and scientists. Field Trips are paid for by the PTO as well as indoor recess games. Innovation Grants are awarded to teachers to support classroom learning.
Are there PTO meetings I can attend?Yes, PTO meetings are a great way to get to know other parents and learn more about our Deer Run community. There are 2 PTO general meetings this year: Wednesday, September 12th, 2018 at 9:30am and Thursday, April 26th, 2019 at 7:00pm. We hope to see you there!
