Footprint Tree: How have you walked in the way of Jesus this week? Share it with us! Fill out a footprint and tell us how you have been challenged by the message in Mark and place it in the box, anonymously or not. Other ways to walk like Jesus:

Talk about Jesus to someone Acts of service in Jesus’ name
Invite someone over for dinner at your house Share the ways you walk !
Classis Contracta this Wednesday, October 5th: Servants needed to prepare coffee and serve cookies and coffee following the meeting. Please talk to Sheri Anderson if you can help with this! Servants: There are still spots available during the months of November, February, March, May, June and July to help with serving coffee after the worship service. If you are interested and would like to serve the congregation in this way, please see Sheri Anderson or contact the office at [email protected]. Sunday School Chapel Time is in need of the following: Someone who knows sign language that can teach the signs for some of
the songs. One or more persons who would be willing to play the piano
during Chapel Time from 9:15-9:30 am on Sunday mornings. If you are able to help with either of these things, please see Iris Muia or call her @ 360-419-9293.
Pregnancy Choices: The annual fundraising event benefiting Pregnancy Choices will take place on Thursday, October 20, at the Burlington Christ the King Church (1000 Fountain Street, Burlington). At 6:00 p.m. the Youth Focus will begin, and the Main Event will be
at 7:00 p.m. The speaker will be Ryan Bomberger, who is a sought-after international public speaker and the founder of TheRadianceFoundation.org, a life-affirming organization. This is a free event with a dessert buffet. If you would like a reserved seat, just contact Nancy Maas (360-770-9645 or [email protected]) and give the number of seats you will need. Missions Fest: Come join Rev. Kate Kooyman from the CRC Office of Social Justice at Westminster Chapel in Bellevue on October 7 and 8 for Missions Fest. The theme is "Global Disruption" and will focus on migrants, refugees, and the church's response to immigration. Congregational Life
Potluck today: will be a combined potluck with First CRC at their church following the service. Join us in fellowship!
Today we welcome Christian Anderson from Campus Christian Fellowship to share with us about the ministry on the Skagit Valley College campus. Youth Group: meets tonight from 6:00—7:30 pm in the youth room. We will begin Lesson 1 from Randy Alcorn’s book Heaven. Parking Lot: Work on the church parking lot will begin this Thursday, October 6th. This means that no one can park in the lot Thursday or Friday. We anticipate that it will be ready for next Sunday’s services. We will keep you updated if there are any changes.
Reformation Day Service and Choir: Come and bring your family and friends to the Reformation Day Service at the First CRC of Mount Vernon on October 30 at 6:30 p.m. Reverend Dale Cooper, former chaplain at Calvin College will proclaim the message. This year we again have the opportunity to participate
in a choir which Karen Westra will be directing. Please let Karen know if you would like to participate ([email protected]). Practices will be held at First Christian Reformed Church in Mount Vernon on Mondays. We will meet on October 10, 17, and 24 from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. We encourage those who love to sing to come and join us. The evening will be a time of praise and celebration. Mark it on your calendar to come and join us in worship. An offering for Back to God Ministries International will be received.

October 2, 2016 A Warm Welcome to all who are worshipping with us today. If you are a visitor or new to our church, please fill out a visitor’s card located on the table in the entryway. A nursery is provided for infants and toddlers through age 3, located in the hallway of the entryway. Children’s Bulletins are available on the table by the door in the entry way for the younger children. Prayer Requests Inserts are in the bulletin for prayer requests. If you have a request please fill insert out and place it in the offering basket when it comes around or the prayer box in the back of the sanctuary. Requests are prayed for on Tuesday and also printed in the bulletin unless they are marked confidential. Children and Worship is a worship time for children ages 3 through kindergarten that occurs during the worship service. Watch for the yellow banner during the service!

Concerns and praises within our family at Faith Special Prayer Requests: - prayers of condolences go out to the friends and family of Elaine Parker who went home to be with the Lord after a long battle with leukemia on Friday. Prayers of comfort and peace to her family. - Continued prayer for those struggling with cancer: Shirley Nelson, Mike VanBerkum's brother John. - Lee McNeil’s father, Darrell suffering from Wagner disease. - prayer for John Fortier, recovering from long term illnesses and complications. - Carrie Madsen—continued prayer as she will have a port put in Monday and begin chemo to shrink a malignant tumor on her hip. Pray for strength and that she will keep food down. Pray that her treatments will be at Skagit and not in Seattle. - Families and Friends of the Cascade Mall shooting victims--prayer for Burlington for all affected by the shooting at the mall. May we share the love of Jesus with all who are involved. - Jeremy Schloemer—prayer as he leaves for basic training with the Army Reserves. Praise for: - Bill and Cathy Adelman and the sale of Bill’s Diner and The Lunch Box. Praise God for His provision and protection and for many years of serving the community. May the Lord bless their years of retirement! - Shirley Nelson--praise for the report that her cancer has continued to shrink and the doctor has given the okay for her to discontinue chemo so that she can build up her white cell counts before her hip surgery in a few weeks. Pray that her white cell count stays high.
