April 22, 2018 Saint Joseph Catholic Church Welcome to Historic St. Joseph Parish Mission Statement “As living members of the Body of Christ, the people of St. Joseph Parish embrace the Traditions of the Church as given to us by Christ. Empowered by the Holy Spirit we teach, live, and love one another as brothers and sisters in Christ, and celebrate the Word of God as a faith-illed com- munity that welcomes all who seek the truth. We cele- brate the presence of God in our midst through worship, service, and catechesis. In accordance with the teachings of the Church, we work to assist all parish members in discerning the truths of our faith and the moral obligation to which we are called to live the Gospel.” Prayer to St. Joseph Oh, St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt, before the throne of God, I place in you all my interests and desires. Oh, St. Joseph, do assist me by your powerful intercession, and obtain for me from your Divine Son all spiritual bless- ings through Jesus Christ, Our Lord, so that having en- gaged here below your heavenly power, I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of Fathers. Oh, St. Joseph, I never weary contemplating you and Jesus asleep in your arms. I dare not approach while He repos- es near your heart. Press Him in my name and kiss His ine Head for me, and ask Him to return the kiss when I draw my dying breath. St. Joseph, patron of departing souls, pray for me. Amen. Fr. Timothy P. Andres, O. you for your though"ulness and generosity in making

Live the Liturgy—Inspira!on for the Week There is something comforting about knowing that we are in someone's care. Children can feel this most easily when surrounded by the embrace of a mother or father. All is well. Jesus is the Good Shepherd. We don't have to !igure out all of the complexities of life. All we need to do is allow Jesus to be the true shepherd of our lives: to point us in the right direction, lead us to the best pasture, and keep us safe from harm. So many things in the world can hurt us, and we can quickly !ind that we are on the road to despair. Keeping focused on Jesus, remaining close to him, allows us to develop the gifts and talents God has given us and discover the key to true happiness. Jesus welcomes me with all of my doubts and fears, limitations and sins.

Mass Inten!ons St. Joseph Parish is blessed to have a strong devotion to having Masses said for those we love. As a result the Mass intention calendar fills up very quickly. If you are looking to schedule a Mass in the near future, the date you would like may not be available. Please plan accordingly when scheduling Mass intentions so we can accommodate your request.

S!ll Shepherding

It is not uncommon to sing Psalm 23 at funerals. We sing it today at Mass. Our Shepherd leads, protects, feeds. Not only with the dead and the grieving, but with each of us and all of us – loved as beloved children, sheep of the !lock. Every day. Always.

¨ To what and to whom is the Shepherd leading me this week?

¨ How will I share Christ’s love? ¨ Whom can I protect and feed?

Pledge of Re-Commitment

I thank God today for the gi# of my life,

And for the lives of my brothers and sisters.

I know I am responsible for the unborn

Who cannot speak for themselves.

I know that the most serious tragedy of our day is

The tragedy of abor!on.

Today I commit myself never to be silent,

Never to be passive, never to be forge"ul of the unborn.

I commit myself to be ac!ve in the pro-life movement,

And never to stop defending life un!l all

My brothers and sisters are protected,

And our na!on once again becomes a na!on with liberty

And jus!ce not just for some, but for all.

Amen.

- St. Teresa of Calcu!a
