Backpacks• A good sized backpack without wheels.

• The backpack is to be emptied daily – just carry snack or lunch, and homework folder and notes/forms to the teacher. No supplies, no notebooks, no toys are to be in the backpack.

• If your child is to bring a note or requested items from home to school, please have your child place the note or item in the backpack for you. It will help him/her to remember to give it to us.

A Daily Snack or Lunch• * You may choose to send a lunchbox or a sack. Please make sure your child’s name is on the snack container and all containers that are inside the lunchbox.

• * Children are encouraged to finish packaged items they open and are not allowed to bring in opened packages or drinks from recess back into the classroom - We have an ant problem.

Kindergarten Homework• Weekly homework will be on our website. Print out and complete.

• Return completed pages on Fridays in the homework folder we are providing.

• Make a special area at home for homework and supplies. Get organized … Keep a container or notebook of items to print out from our website for reference, and an additional container for weekly Open court and supplementary books that will be sent home to practicereading.

• Keep supplies at home for homework … lined paper, glue, crayons,pencils, markers, tape, eraser, a hole punch, construction paper, stickers, etc.

• 15 to 30 minutes daily totaling up to 2 hours per week.

• Practice, practice, practice Kindergarten Standards.

* We will recognize your child’s birthday in our classroom unless

you ask us not to celebrate his or her day.

* The “Birthday Bag” will go home with activities to be completed

that day. If you have birthday plans, that may not allow your child

to complete the journal, please let us know and we will send it

home at a convenient time for you.

* As a health precaution, birthday cupcakes

and other treats are not permitted.

* Trinkets or gift bags that do not include food will be allowed.

Share Bags

Sharing is such an important time in Kindergarten.

Not only is it a time for your child to feel special, but

it is also a time for families to share precious

moments together. A special bag will come home

containing something to share with the family. The

kindergartner is to draw and write about the

experience with the item in the enclosed journal.

Please return everything “the next day” as it is

another child’s turn to take it home.

Clue Bags

• We have weekly themes that encourage “clue bags”. Clue bags are an optional activity in the weekly homework and the item must have the attribute we are studying. A clue bag worksheet is sent home in the homework packet for this activity. For a clue bag, the item must be in a paper sack or bag that is stapled or taped closed and the child is to give 3 clues to help the class in guessing what is in the bag. Each child may do one clue bag a week. This is our educational way we do “show and tell” or sharing.

• Please, do not allow toys to come to school (unless it is in a “Clue Bag” for the week and has that special attribute).

Bono Rules!

• Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.• Raise a quiet hand to have a turn to speak in whole group activities.• Use a soft voice in small group activities in the classroom.• Stay seated during instruction time on the carpet or at the tables.• Share everything in the classroom and at recess.• Follow directions the first time they are given. • Keep your toys and personal items at home. The Report Card

• The district website displays the report card.

• Each student has a test booklet recording the assessment of each standard.

• The report card is given 3 times throughout the year…each trimester.

• The first report card will be given out at the November conference.
