iME KOrčuLAime Korčula dolazi od grčkog imena Korkyra Melaina (latinski Corcyra Nigra). To ime povezano je s legendom o prekrasnoj nimfi Kerkyri, kćeri riječnog boga Asopa, u koju se zaljubio bog mora Posejdon te ju je oteo i zatočio na otoku. Korčula to ime dijeli s grčkim otokom Krfom u Jonskome moru. Pridjev crna Korčula je dobila zbog gustih borovih šuma koje se promatrane s mora čine crnima.
GEOGrAFSKi POLOŽAJKorčula je južnodalmatinski otok koji se proteže usporedo s kopnom u smjeru zapad-istok. Duga je 46,8 km, prosječne širine 5,3 km – 7,8 km. Po veličini je šesti otok na Jadranu. Otočna obala duga je 182 km. Otok je vrlo razveden, s mnogo zaljeva i uvala. Na Korčuli živi otprilike 16 000 stanovnika te je po broju stanovnika drugi otok na Jadranu.
KLiMA, FLOrA i FAuNAKlima na otoku vrlo je blaga, s mediteranskim obilježjima. Korčula ima prosječno 2700 sunčanih sati na godinu, a samo četrdeset kišnih sati. Zimi se temperatura rijetko spušta ispod 10 °C. Ljeti je prosječna temperatura 26,9 °C, a maksimalna 40 °C. Vrlo rijetko zimi padne i snijeg, što je za stanovnike otoka poseban doživljaj. THE NAMEKOrčuLAThere is a story about the name of this island. Korčula’s Greek name is Korkyra Melaina (lat. Corcyra Nigra). The name Korkyra is tied to the legend of the beautiful nymph Kerkyra, daughter of Asop, God of rivers. Poseidon, the God of the Sea, fell in love with her, kidnapped her and held her in captivity on the island. The name Korčula is shared with the Greek island of Corfu in the ionian Sea. Epithet black (melaina) comes from the dense holm oakwood which appears black when seen from the sea.
GEOGrAPHFiCPOSiTiONThe island of Korčula is a south Dalmatian island parallel to the mainland, situated in a west-east course. it is 46, 8 km long, with an average width of 5, 3 -7, 8 km, and is the sixth largest Adriatic island. vjetar – maestral, a zimi jugoistočnjak – jugo, sjeveroistočnjak – bura ili sjeverac – tramontana.Korčula je jedan od najšumovitijih otoka Jadrana. Najčešće drvo je bor, i to alepski bor (Pinus halepensis), pinija (Pinus pinea) i dalmatinski crni bor (Pinus nigra dalmatica). Na otoku uspijevaju i čempres (Cupressus) te guste samonikle šume česvine, crnike (Quercus ilex), divlje masline, rogača i lovorike. Na Korčuli ćete vidjeti i palme, eukaliptus, bugenviliju, oleandre, pitosporu i razne vrste kaktusa. Na otoku raste samoniklo ljekovito i aromatično bilje: kadulja, ružmarin, lavanda, smilje, metvica, majčina dušica, mravinac, mažuran itd. Mnogo je jestivih trava i biljaka. Početkom jeseni beru se razne vrste gljiva, a u proljeće šparoge i bljušt.Na Korčuli raste i endemska biljka crna orhideja. Vela Luka je Iocus classicus te vrste orhideje, tj. mjesto gdje je pronađen njezin prvi primjerak, koji je iskorišten kao uzorak za opis vrste. Taj primjerak čuva se u Botaničkom muzeju u Zürichu. ista vrsta orhideje, osim na otoku Korčuli, pronađena je još jedino u italiji na poluotoku Monte Gargano. rasprostranjena je na vrlo ograničenu području. Od ukupno 25 000 poznatih vrsta orhideje u svijetu, samo jedan posto raste u Europi. Od toga, na Korčuli uspijeva 35 različitih vrsta orhideje.Na Korčuli ćete pronaći i mnogo održavanih vinograda i maslinika.u životinjskom svijetu ističu se inače rijetki čagalj (Canis aureus dalmaticus) i mungos (Mungos mungo) te mnoštvo ptica pjevica. Na otoku žive razne vrste divljači: zečevi, fazani, divlje patke, veprovi, a na otočiću Badiji možete pronaći i jelene. More je bogato ribom, rakovima, školjkama, ježincima.
LJuDi i POViJESTStanovnici Korčule žive iskorištavajući sve blagodati modernog doba, a istodobno poštujući tradiciju i život u skladu s prirodom. Gotovo svaka obitelj obrađuje zemlju. Najčešće uzgajaju vinovu lozu i masline uz posao koji im osigurava egzistenciju, a neke obitelji žive isključivo od njihova uzgoja. Teško je utvrditi koje je mjesto na otoku najstarije; neki kažu Pupnat, neki Blato, ali sigurno je da je Korčula naseljena od davnina. Najprije su ga naselili iliri, zatim Grci i rimljani, a u 7. stoljeću došli su Hrvati. Svi su oni na Korčuli ostavili trag; svaki kutak otoka čuva tajne davne prošlosti. To je dio ljepote i bogatstva tog, u turističkom smislu, još neotkrivenog otoka.

°C. Snow falls very seldom during winter, and is quite a special experience for the inhabitants. The average sea temperature in March is 12, 9 °C, and 22, 3 °C during the summer. The most frequent wind during the summer is the west wind – maestral, and the southeast – jugo or northwest – tramontana during the winter. Korčula is one of the most forested Adriatic islands. Pine trees are the most frequent – Aleppo pine (Pinus halepensis), Pinus pine (Pinus pinea), Dalmatian black pine (Pinus nigra Dalmatica). There are a lot of cypress trees (Cypressus) and thick, wild woods of holm-oak, wild olives, carob and laurel. You can also see palm-trees, eucalyptus, bougainvillea, oleander, Australian laurel and various cacti. There are also indigenous therapeutic and aromatic plants: sage, rosemary, immortelle, lavender, mint, thyme, oregano, marjoram, and many edible plants. At the beginning of the autumn, one can find different sorts of mushrooms, and asparagus and black bryony in the spring. There is also the endemic black orchid on Korčula island. Vela Luka is mentioned as «Locus classicus» of this orchid (the place where the first example of the plant was found and used as a sample for the first description of its kind). There are 35 different species of orchid that you can find on the island of Korčula. The most interesting animals that can be found on the island are: a rare jackal (Canis aureus Dalmaticus), mongoose (Mungus mungo) and a variety of birds and song-birds. The wildlife of the island includes rabbits, pheasants, wild geese, boars and even deer, which can be found on the small islet of Badija. The sea is rich with fish, crustaceans, shells and sea-urchins.
PEOPLE AND HiSTOrYToday the inhabitants of Korčula use all the benefits of the modern age, while at the same time they respect traditions and live in harmony with nature. Almost every family is engaged in agriculture, mostly wine grape and olives, along with an additional job if needed. Some families live solely from agriculture.it is hard to establish, with certainty, which place on the island is the oldest. Some say Pupnat, some Blato. What is certain, however, is that the island of Korčula has been inhabited from ancient times. The first to arrive were the illyrians, followed by the Greeks and romans. The Croats arrived in the 7th century . All of these tribes left their mark on the island; every place contains secrets of ancient history. This is part of the beauty of this, for guests, still undiscovered island.

ArHEOLOGiJA Tragovi pradavne ljudske djelatnosti otkriveni su na više mjesta na otoku. Najstariji su nalazi kamenih noževa iz neolita na otočiću Badiji kod Korčule.u Veloj Luci nalazi se Vela spila. rezultati istraživanja pokazuju da je to jedno od najvažnijih i najbogatijih mediteranskih arheoloških nalazišta.Bogatstvo pronađenih artefakata, njihova raznovrsnost i važnost razlikuju Velu spilu od sličnih arheoloških nalazišta.
VELA SPiLA Nastanjena je još od pretpovijesti. Pronađeni predmeti čuvaju se i mogu se razgledati u Centru za kulturu u Veloj Luci.Vela spila nalazi se na Pinskom ratu, iznad uvale Kale. Do nje vode novouređena Plava staza, ali i cesta pa se dotamo možete odvesti automobilom ili prošetati. S Vele spile pruža se prekrasan pogled na cijelu uvalu; u sumrak se od tamo pruža pogled na očaravajući zalazak sunca, a noću na svjetlima obasjanu uvalu. Osim Vele spile, na otoku postoje još dva arheološka nalazišta iz pretpovijesti, a to su špilja Žukovica i Jakasova špilja.
LuMBArDSKA PSEFiZMA Potječe iz 3.st. prije Krista te svjedoči o grčkoj naseobini u tom području. Psefizma je u kamenu zapisan povijesni dokument. Ona predstavlja potvrdu o prisutnosti grčke naseobine na ovom području. utemeljenju nekog grada u antičkom svijetu. Da je kojim slučajem ova psefizma izgubljena ili nepronađena nikad se ne bi otkrila ova istina. Psefizma se čuva u Arheološkom muzeju u Zagrebu, a u Gradskom muzeju u Korčuli čuvaju se nalazi iz uništene nekropole na predjelu Sutivan, također iz 3. stoljeća prije Krista.
STATuT GrADA i OTOKA KOrčuLEStatut potječe iz 13. stoljeća i jedan je od najstarijih pravnih slavenskih dokumenta. Stručnjaci smatraju da je donesen već 1214. godine, a reformacije su mu dodavane do sredine 16. stoljeća. Najstariji dio Statuta pisan je srednjovjekovnim latinskim jezikom. Tiskan je u Veneciji 1643. godine. Sačuvana su dva stara rukopisna primjerka Statuta od kojih se jedan čuva u rimu, a drugi u zbirci obitelji Kapor u Korčuli.

ArCHAEOLOGY Evidence of prehistoric life can be found on several localities on the island. The oldest are findings of stone knives dating from the neolithic on the island of Badija, near the city of Korčula, while the most eminent and richest Mediterranean archaeological cave site is Vela Spila in Vela Luka. Apart from the Vela Spila cave, there are two more archaeological sites from ancient history on the island, Žukovica Cave (near račišće) and the Jakas Cave (near Žrnovo).
VELA SPiLA (BiG CAVE)it had been inhabited since the prehistoric times. The archaeological finds from this site prove that several prehistoric communities lived here and used the cave in their every-day life, as well as for burying their dead. Vela Spila is located on Pinski rat hill above Kale cove. There is a nice path that leads directly to Vela Spila, but you can also reach it by car. if you decide to walk, make sure you wear a hat and bring some water with you.These findings are currently preserved in the Vela Luka Centre of Culture.
PSEPHiSM OF LuMBArDAThe Psephism of Lumbarda originates from the 3rd century B.C. it gives evidence of the existence of Greek settlements in this area. if, by any chance, this psephism was lost or never found, this fact would never have been discovered. A psephism is a historical lapidary document. it represents one of the rarest preserved testimonies of the foundation of a city in Antiquity. it is kept in the Archaeological Museum in Zagreb, while the findings from the destroyed necropolis from the area of Sutivan, dating back to the 3rd Century B.C., are kept in the City Museum in Korčula.
THE STATuTE OF THE CiTYAND THE iSLAND OF KOrčuLA. This statute dates from the 13th century and is the second oldest example of legislation among Slavs. Experts believe that it was first drafted in 1214, while the reforms were continously added until the 16th century. in 2014 it celebrated its 800th anniversary. The oldest part of The Statute is written in Medieval Latin. it was printed in Venice in 1643. Two old handwritten copies are preserved, one of which is kept in rome, and the other in the private collection of the Kapor family in Korčula.

uluViTEŠKi PLESOVi
Viteški plesovi izvode se na blagdan sveca zaštitnika mjesta. Danas se izvode češće, tako da mnogobrojni turisti mogu uživati u njima.Kumpanija se izvodi u Blatu, Veloj Luci, Smokvici, čari i Pupnatu.u Žrnovu se izvodi moštra, a u Korčuli moreška. Ti spektakularni plesovi prikazuju borbu između osvajača i domaće vojske.
KLAPE Klapa je skupina od šest do devet pjevača. Klape su pjevale acapella pred večer, u mjestu, u konobi ili na obali za vlastito zadovoljstvo, a česte su bile i serenade pod prozorom drage osobe u noćnim satima. Tako su se muškarci udvarali. Danas je takvo udvaranje rijetkost, ali klapsko pjevanje očuvalo se. Ljeti možete čuti klape u konobama i restoranima ili na koncertima. Ako želite doživjeti pravu dušu Dalmacije, nemojte nikako propustiti priliku da poslušate klapsko pjevanje uživo. Klapsko pjevanje uvršteno je u europsku nematerijalnu kulturnu baštinu.
MAŠKArEVrijeme maškara započinje na Sveta tri kralja i traje do početka korizme. To je razdoblje veselja i druženja. u svakome mjestu organiziraju se plesovi pod maskama. Maškare se organiziraju i tijekom ljeta.
VrTuJCi i TOrETE„Vrtujci“ su suhozidne građevine izgrađene na specifičan način – kružnim slaganjem kamenih ploča. Nadsvođene su stožastim krovištem. u prošlosti su služile kao zaklon od kiše, mjesta na kojima su ljudi mogli nešto pojesti ili se odmoriti, a u njima su držali i alate za rad u polju. u okolici Vele Luke ima ih više od petnaest. Najveći je „vrtujak“ u okolici Vele Luke na Gornjoj Njivici, a visok je 4,23 m.u vinogradima Smokvice mogu se pronaći slične građevine iste namjene koje su poznate pod nazivom „toreta“. u Smokvici ih ima pet.
MEJE„Meje“ svjedoče o intenzivnom bavljenju poljoprivredom, obradi zemljišta i uzgoju vinove
SWOrD (KNiGHT) DANCESKnight dances are performed on the patron’s day of
a particular place. Today they are performed more often, so numerous tourists can enjoy them.Kumpanija is performed in Blato, Vela Luka,
Smokvica, čara and Pupnat. The Moštra is performed in Žrnovo, and the Moreška in Korčula. These spectacular dances depict battles between
the conquerors and native armies.
KLAPEA Klapa is a group of six to
nine singers. Klapas used to sing accapela in the
evenings in the centre of a place, in a tavern or by
the shore for their own pleasure. They often
used to sing serenades under their loved one’s
window in late night hours. This is how men
courted women in these parts.
Today, this kind of courtship is rare, but klapa singing
remained. During the summer you can listen to klapas in taverns,
restaurants or at concerts. if you wish to experience the real soul of Dalmatia,
do not miss a chance to listen to a live klapa performance. Klapa singing
is now included in the European intangible Cultural Heritage list.
CArNiVALThe carnival time begins on the day
of The Three Kings and lasts until the beginning of Lent. it is a period
of joy and fun. Each place organizes a costumed dance. Costumed evenings are
organized in summer time too.
VrTuJCi AND TOrETAS ‘Vrtujci’ are dry-wall structures built in a specific way – by piling stone panels in a circular manner. They are covered with conic trusses. in historical times, they served as a shelter from rain. Also, people used to eat, rest or keep their farm tools in them. There are around 15 of them in the Vela Luka region. The largest one is 4.23 m tall. in the vineyards of Smokvica, similar structures can be found which are known as ‘toretas’. There are five ‘toretas’ in Smokvica.
MEJE‘Meje’ are stone terraces – dry-walls. They are a testimony of intense agricultural activity, farming and winegrape cultivation. They are incorporated with the landscape in such a degree that they look like a part of it. Almost every hill on the island is

KAMENE KuĆiCEAko se upustite u istraživanje brežuljaka u okolici bilo kojeg mjesta na otoku, pronaći ćete mnogo kamenih kućica, također građenih od suhozida. u prošlosti su se upotrebljavale da bi si ljudi olakšali rad u polju.
covered with ‘meje’, particularly on the south side of the island. it has been calculated that, solely from the Blato area , the total length of these stone fences, is equal to one and a half times the length of the equator. One cannot look at ‘meje’ without a strong sense of admiration for the patience and hard work of the people who built them. Today, except for useful purposes, ‘meje’ also present a natural beauty that will surprise many visitors.
STONE HOuSESif you decide to explore the hills surrounding any of the places on the island, you will found many stone houses, also built with the dry-wall technique. These houses were used to facilitate working in the fields.

Nastanak lumblije povezuje se s ljubavnom pričom blatske djevojke i francuskog vojnika u doba Napoleona. riječ lumblija dolazi od francuskog n’ oublie pas, tj. „ne zaboravi me“. To su riječi koje je mladić na rastanku izgovorio svojoj dragoj poklanjajući joj taj kolač. upravo zato lumblija se peče u vrijeme sjećanja na najmilije.

Delicious and diverse cuisine is offered on the island of Korčula, which, while keeping the genuine and domestic traditions, was also influenced by foreign nations. Every gourmet will enjoy Korčula’s cuisine . Korčula is primarily an island of olives and winegrape. Domestic fruits and vegetables are also grown here, and fresh fish is available daily. The main oil used in preparing dishes is olive oil. Wine is used as a drink, but also as a spice; homemade liqueurs and brandies are also used in cakes. Aromatic plants (rosemary, laurel, lavender, basil, sage, mint, thyme, marjoram...) are used in dishes, drinks, and as a cure. You can enjoy a rich variety of meat and fish dishes on the island.
LuMBLiJALumblija is a sweet bread with a lot of aromatic spices. it is traditionally made only during a particular time of the year - for All Saints in Blato, Smokvica, čara and Vela Luka. The story of its genesis is tied to a love story of a girl from Blato and a French soldier, during the times when Napoleon’s army occupied the island. The word lumblija comes from French ‘n’ uoblie pas’, i.e. do not forget me. These are the words the soldier said when saying goodbye to the girl, and gave her this cake. This is why lumblija is baked at the time when we remember our loved ones.

KorčuleKorčulanska su vina plavac, pošip, rukatac i grk. Korčula je otok koji se može pohvaliti tradicijom vinogradarstva i vinarstva još od vremena starih Grka (4. st. pr.Kr). Vinogradarska proizvodnja razvija se na Korčuli već stoljećima, a rezultat su visokokvalitetna vina.Stoga ne kupujte vino u trgovini, nego radije posjetite neku od mnogih vinarija, koje ćete lako pronaći u svakom mjestu na otoku. Otok Korčula poznat je po bijelim vinima. Grk se uzgaja u Lumbardi, a u središnjem dijelu otoka (čara i Smokvica) uzgajaju se pošip i rukatac. Od crnih sorti najrašireniji je plavac mali.
GrK Grk je vrhunsko suho vino proizvedeno od istoimene autohtone sorte. Na drugim područjima grk je gotovo potpuno nestao. To je vino žuto-zlatne boje, kristalne čistoće i neusporediva okusa. u njemu ima živosti i svježine, a završava ugodnom gorčinom.
POŠiPPošip je svojevrsni svjetski raritet; znaju mu se točno podrijetlo, mjesto pronalaska i ime pronalazača. Jedno je od prvih bijelih vina Hrvatske sa zaštićenim geografskim podrijetlom: zaštićeno je 1967. godine. Sorta najbolje uspijeva kod čare i Smokvice, gdje se od nje proizvodi vino vrhunske kvalitete, blistave, slamnato-zlatnožute boje, koje se teško ljulja u čaši i po njezinim stijenkama ostavlja gust trag. Punog je i osebujnog okusa s karakterističnom aromom suhih marelica i smokava. Ova autohtona hrvatska sorta stoji rame uz rame najpoznatijim svjetskim bijelim sortama.

commended for its long tradition of winemaking. The inhabitants have been engaged in this activity
since Greek times (4th century B.C.) Winemaking has been continuously developed through the centuries, the results of which are high quality
wines. Therefore, do not buy wines in supermarkets, but rather visit some of the many wine-cellars which
can be found in every part of the island. The island of Korčula is famous for its white
wines. Grk is made in Lumbarda, while Pošip and rukatac are made in
the central part of the island (čara and Smokvica) .
Plavac Mali is the most spread of the red
cultivar.

POŠiPPošip is somewhat of a world rarity; its origin, place of the first encounter and the name of the founder
is registered. it is one of the first white wines in Croatia, with a protected geographic origin; it has
been protected since 1967. it prospers in čara and Smokvica, places that always give its highest quality.
The wine is of a bright, straw-yellowish color, it is heavy and moves thickly in the glass, always leaving
a thick trace. it is rich and of a peculiar taste, with a characteristic dry apricot and fig aroma.

Svijetložuta boja, punoća i sklad okusa tog vina najbolja su slika podneblja koje ga je iznjedrilo. PLAVAC To „vatreno“ južnjačko vino ljubičasto-crvene boje uglavnom je suho i jako, više ili manje trpkog okusa. Plavac je oduvijek bio piće i hrana običnog težaka i ribara, ali može se pronaći i na najluksuznijem stolu.
PrOŠEKSpecifično desertno vino prošek posebno je ukusno ako se proizvodi od sorte pošip. Tradicionalno se proizvodi u Dalmaciji i na otocima od presušena grožđa autohtonih sorti. Najčešće sadržava visoke alkohole, vrhunskog je bukea i izrazito sladak. Pije se ohlađen kao aperitiv uz kolače.

PLAVACPlavac is a high quality red wine. This ‘fiery’ south wine, purple-red in color, is mostly dry and strong. Plavac has always been the drink of the common peasant and fisherman, but could also always be found on the most luxurious table.
PrOŠEKProšek is specific dessert wine, especially if made from the Pošip cultivar. it is traditionally made in Dalmatia and on islands of over-dried grapes of autochthonous cultivars. it generally has high alcohol content, a beautiful bouquet and is distinctively sweet. it is served cooled and as an aperitif with cakes.

Vela Luka najveće je mjesto na otoku. Nalazi se na zapadnoj strani otoka u dubokom, zaštićenom zaljevu. Zbog svojeg je položaja sigurno sidrište i luka za nautičare.u središtu zaljeva nalazi se otočić Ošjak, a na ulazu u zaljev prekrasan otočić Proizd. Ako dolazite u Velu Luku brodom, uplovljavat ćete pola sata i imat ćete osjećaj da vas mjesto grli i priziva. Vela Luka bogata je prirodnim ljepotama i kulturnim nasljeđem te ima razvijen zdravstveni turizam. u uvali Kale nalazi se ljekovito blato – liman, koje je uz blagu klimu bilo presudno za izgradnju lječilišta Kalos.Mnoge javne površine u Veloj Luci popločane su mozaicima. ima ih oko sedamdeset, a može ih se razgledati na uzdignutom panou u parku pokraj benzinske crpke. Također ih možete vidjeti u atriju Centra za kulturu. Centar za kulturu također čuva i predstavlja bogatstvo i raznovrsnost velolučke povijesne, kulturne i umjetničke baštine s još nekoliko vrijednih muzejskih zbirki: arheološkom
zbirkom, zbirkom grafike i male skulpture te zbirkom drvenih maketa brodova. Djelić povijesti otoka možete doživjeti i ako posjetite etnografsku zbirku maslinarstva i vinogradarstva u uljari Zlokić.Osim Centra za kulturu i uljare Zlokić, možete posjetiti i crkvu svetog Josipa i crkveni toranj.Vela Luka najraspjevanije je mjesto otoka, njezini stanovnici i pjesma nerazdvojni su, pjesma kao da je utkana u njih. Tradicijsko pjevanje čuvaju „luške“ klape (muška klapa Vela Luka – Proizd, ženska klapa Lanterna, mješovita klapa pri folklornom društvu Kumpanija), a iz Vele Luke dolazi i dvoje vrlo poznatih i uspješnih hrvatskih pjevača, Oliver Dragojević i Jasna Zlokić. Vela Luka također je mjesto koje je najviše opjevano. Među pjesmama posvećenim Veloj Luci posebno mjesto zauzima „Sjećanje na Velu Luku“. To je jedna od najljepših i najpoznatijih hrvatskih pjesama, pjesma svih koje je Vela Luka dotaknula i očarala. Vela Luka mjesto je koje vas uvijek vuče da mu se vratite, mjesto u kojem i u koje se ljudi zaljubljuju.

Vela Luka is the largest place of the island, situated on the west side of the island of Korčula in a deep, sheltered bay. Due to its position, it is a safe anchorage and nautical harbour. in the middle of the bay there is the island of Ošjak, while the beautiful island of Proizd is situated at the very entrance.Vela Luka is rich in natural beauties and cultural heritage, and has a well developed health tourism.There is a special healing mud-liman in the Kale bay, which, together with a mild climate, was the main prerequisite for the construction of the Kalos health resort. Many of the public areas of Vela Luka are paved with more then 70 mosaics made during the “First international Artist’s Meeting of Painters– Vela Luka -1968’ manifestation. in the park, near the gas station, there is a large mosaic board, set upright. Similar mosaics can also be seen in the atrium of the Centre for Culture. The Centre for Culture houses and displays a variety of Vela Luka’s historic, cultural and art heritage, with several museum collections: an archaeological
collection, collection of graphics and small sculptures, and a collection of ship models carved in wood. A piece of this history can also be experienced whilst visiting the ethnographic collection of olive and grape growing in the Zlokić oil mill. Here is something you should also visit: Bell tower, St Josip Church and Church Treasury. Vela Luka is the most ‘singful’ place on the island. its inhabitants and the song are inseparable, as if the song is woven in them.This place is home to many talented musicians and artists. Traditional singing is nurtured by Vela Luka’s klape (male klapa Vela Luka –Proizd, female klapa Lanterna, mixed klapa under folklore association Kumpanija). Many songs are dedicated to this place, but ‘Sjećanje na Velu Luku’ holds a special place for all its inhabitants. it is one of the most beautiful and most famous Croatian songs. it is a song of all, who were touched and charmed by Vela Luka. Vela Luka is the place that lures you to come back, the place in which people fall in love with.

GrADiNAGradina je uvala na zapadnom kraju otoka Korčule, udaljena 5 km od Vele Luke. Danas je to malo naselje vikend-kuća, a mnogi vole tamo otići jer je do mjesta lako doći automobilom i pogodno je za djecu, more je plitko, obala stjenovita i šljunčana, a na nekim mjestima ima i pijeska. Gradina je zaštićena od većine vjetrova. Okrenuta je prema zapadu pa tijekom ljetnih poslijepodneva možete uživati u blagom maestralu i u prekrasnom zalasku sunca. uz obalu se protežu prekrasna šetnica te bujna mediteranska vegetacija. u uvali se nalazi i restoran koji nudi izvrsnu hranu, a otvoren je u večernjim satima.
MArTiNA BOKDo te uvale možete doći automobilom ili motociklom, ali dio puta treba propješačiti. Plaža je stjenovita i česti su veliki valovi.Ako želite uživati u divljini, idite u uvalu Martina bok. u blizini uvale nalazi se kamp Mindel koji među ostalim ima i tenisko igralište.
GABriCA i PičENA Te uvale udaljene su oko 2,5 km cestom od Vele Luke. ispred njih je otočić Ošjak. Plitke su i šljunkovite te su pogodne za djecu i neplivače. Zaštićene su od svih vjetrova osim jugozapadnjaka. u uvali Pičena nalaze se most za koji je moguć privez broda te mali restoran.

GrADiNAGradina is a bay located on the western end of the island of Korčula, 5 kilometres from Vela Luka. it is a small village of summer houses. People love to visit Gradina since you can reach it by car and is suitable for small children; the sea is shallow and the coast is mildly rocky with sandy points. Gradina is protected from almost all winds, and so is an ideal anchorage point for small boats (up to 4 m of draught). it has a nice walking path and the most beautiful of sunsets. There is also a restaurant in this bay offering delicious food, which is open in the evening hours.
MArTiNA BOKYou can reach this beach by car, bike or motorcycle, but the last part of the way you need to walk. The beach itself is rocky, and there are often big waves.The nearest facility is camp Mindel in which you can play tennis or choose some other activity.
GABriCA i PičENAThese coves are situated about 2,5 km away from Vela Luka. The island of Ošjak is situated in front of them. The bays are shallow and pebbly, and suitable for children and non-swimmers. in Pičena bay there is a quay, so docking is possible. There is also a small restaurant.

PLiTViNEuvala je okrenuta prema jugu. Od Vele Luke udaljena je 500 m. Do nje možete doći cestom ili pješice prekrasnim puteljkom uz more te brodićem koji redovito vozi iz Vele Luke do uvale jer se u njoj nalazi hotel Adria. uvala je zaštićena od svih vjetrova te je sidrište za male i veće brodove. u sklopu hotela Adria dva su igrališta za tenis. Ako prošećete još malo dalje prema zapadu, naići ćete na uvalu Sokolić s lijepom šljunčanom plažom.
PrOiZD Proizd je otočić na ulazu u duboki zaljev Vele Luke. Poznat je i omiljen zbog svojih prekrasnih plaža s bijelim oblutcima i kristalno čistog mora. Do njega možete doći iz Vele Luke taksi-brodom za oko trideset minuta, iznajmljenim ili privatnim brodom i usidriti se u nekoj od njegovih uvala. Na Proizdu će vas očarati miris čistog mora i borova, sjajni bijeli oblutci na plažama, glatke stijene za sunčanje i intenzivna pjesma cvrčaka. Proizd nudi posebno iskustvo koje bi bilo šteta propustiti.Jedna od plaža na Proizdu nagrađena je od Ministarstva pomorstva i prometa nagradom „Najbolja plaža godine“ u 2007. godini.Na Proizdu se održava europsko prvenstvo u ribolovu. Kad idete na Proizd, obvezno ponesite zaštitnu kremu za sunčanje s visokim faktorom (najmanje pedeset) i dovoljno vode za piće.

The bay faces south, and is situated 500 m from Vela Luka. You can reach it by road or on foot following a beautiful path by the sea, or by a taxi-boat that drives very often, since the Adria hotel is situated in this bay. The bay is protected from all the winds and is an anchorage for small and larger boats. The Adria hotel has 2 tennis grounds. if you decide to take a a slightly longer walk , you will come across the Sokolić bay, in which a nice pebble beach is situated.
PrOiZD Proizd is an islet located at the entrance to Vela Luka. it is famous for its beautiful beaches and clear blue sea. You can get there from Vela Luka by a taxi-boat (about 30 min) which docks in Perna bay, or you can go with your own boat and anchor in one of the many beautiful bays. On Proizd, the scent of pines and the clarity of the sea will enchant you, along with the white pebbles, smooth rocks and intense cricket song. Proizd is a very special experience, don’t miss it. The beach of Proizd was awarded „The best Beach of the Year“ in 2007 by the Ministry of Sea, Travel and Transportation. The European Bait Fishing Championship also takes place on Proizd. When you go to Proizd, make sure that you bring sun protection (with at least a factor of 50), and also enough water to drink.

Blato je jedno od najstarijih naselja na otoku Korčuli, smješteno u središtu zapadnog dijela otoka. Postavljeno je amfiteatralno na padinama triju brda. Ta lokacija štitila je Blato od napada gusara, a formirala se i vojska kumpanija kako bi ga štitila od njih. S vremenom je kumpanija postala dijelom folklora i atraktivnim viteškim plesom koji se izvodi svakog tjedna tijekom ljeta ispred župne crkve. Glavni nastup viteškog udruženja Kumpanjije održava se 28. travnja na dan svete Vicence, zaštitnice Blata.Ono što Blato čini posebnim dugačka je aleja lipa sa 117 stabala koja se proteže duž glavne ulice. Aleja je posađena 1911. godine. To je druga najduža aleja lipa u Europi, odmah nakon poznate unter den Linden u Berlinu. Zanimljivo je da ulice u Blatu nemaju imena, nego brojke.u Blatu ćete pronaći etnokuću Barilo, gdje možete osjetiti duh prošlosti i vidjeti artefakte koje su upotrebljavali naši preci, od
Blato is one of the oldest settlements on the island of Korčula, situated in the centre of the western part of the island. The settlement is amphitheatrically formed on the slopes of three hills. This location kept Blato safe from pirate attacks, while the Kumpanjija army was being gathered for defensive purposes. Kumpanjija, with time, became a part of folklore and an attractive knight’s sword dance which is performed every week during the summer in front of the parish church. The main performance of Kumpanjija is on April 28th, on Saint Vincentia’s Day, the patron of Blato. A long linden tree avenue with 117 linden trees along the main road is what makes Blato special. The trees were planted in 1911. The one kilometer long avenue is the second longest linden tree avenue in Europe, right after the famous unter den Linden in Berlin. However, the streets of Blato do not have names, but numbers instead.in Blato, you can find the Etno kuća Barilo(Ethno House Barilo), a tourist attraction where you can feel the spirit of the past and see artifacts which were used by our ancestors, from clothing, to

Marija Petković was born in a wealthy family in Blato, but dedicated her life to the poor. in 1920 she founded the Congregation of the Daughters of Mercy, the only original Croatian congregation.Blato’s All Saints parish church is mentioned in documents from the 14th century, while some sources state that it originates from the 10th century. it is set in the centre of the town, in the spacious square. Next to it is the bell-tower and the loggia. Something you should also visit is the All Saints Church.Traditional singing is also well-known in Blato, so while in Blato, enjoy the famous klapa “Kumpanji”, or attend various kinds of klapa festivals.With its population of 3.500 people, Blato is interesting even outof season. PriGrADiCAPrigradica je turistička uvala na sjevernoj strani otoka udaljena 4 km od Blata. u njoj je velika šljunčana plaža koju rado
posjećuju svi, od najstarijih do najmlađih, a ima i trgovinu, restoran i kafić. Prigradica je bila vrlo važna pomorska luka koja je služila za izvoz lokalnog vina i maslinova ulja. Emigranti su za vrijeme krize iz te luke odlazili u nepoznato kako bi sebi i svojim obiteljima osigurali egzistenciju.
PriŽBA i PriŠĆAPACusred Prižbe nalaze se mali poluotok ratak s prekrasnom šljunčanom plažom, nekoliko restorana i ostalim sadržajima za turiste. Na poluotoku Prišćapac
još je jedna divna šljunčana plaža i odmaralište.
GrŠĆiCAGršćica, udaljena 7 km od Blata, zaštićena je uvala pogodna za sidrenje i ugodan boravak u nekom od privatnih apartmana ili kamp-kućica.

PriGrADiCAPrigradica is a tourist bay situated about 4 km from Blato on the northern side of the island. There is a long pebble beach gladly visited
by everyone, from the youngest to the oldest. in Prigradica you can find a shop, a restaurant and a cafe. Historically, Prigadica was a very important naval port that was used for exporting local wines and olive oil. immigrants departed from this port in times of crisis, and went into the unknown to ensure their livelihood.
PriŽBA i PriŠĆAPACThere is also the small peninsula of ratak, in the centre of Prižba, with its lovely pebble beach, several restaurants and other facilities for tourists, close to another splendid
pebble beach resort on the peninsula of Prišćapac.
GrŠĆiCAGršćica, situated 7 km from Blato, is another sheltered bay recommended for anchoring, and a lovely stay in some of the private vacation or camping rentals.
KArBuNi A charming tourist bay, whose authentic island landscape is even more special due to the islets along the coast. The largest islet is Zvirinovik, only a few hundred meters away from the coast.

SMOKViCASmokvica se nalazi u podnožju spojenih brda Vele i Male obale, zaklonjena je od vjetrova i otvorena prema suncu i moru, na mjestu gdje je otok najširi i reljefno najraznovrsniji. ispresijecana je prapovijesnim klancima i antičkim putovima te okružena prekrasnom prirodom, vinogradima i maslinicima. Kamene kuće, idilične ulice, bogata kulturna baština, stoljetni vinogradi i maslinici čari su tog otočnog mjesta koje vas svakim trenutkom vraćaju u neka davna vremena.Smokvica je jedno od starijih naselja na otoku Korčuli, u kojoj je kontinuitet ljudskog života neprestan od prapovijesti do danas. Naselje se sa svojim granicama spominje u Korčulanskom statutu iz 1214. godine, ali ilirska gradina iz drugog tisućljeća p. n. e. te nalazište starohrvatskog groblja nedaleko od današnjeg groblja dokaz su da su ljudi živjeli na tim područjima mnogo prije. Na području Smokvice pronaći ćete ostatke antičke keramike, starogrčku prešu za vino, srednjovjekovne crkvice, ostatke vila rustika i kaštela plemića. Ovdje su plemići gradili svoje gospodarske komplekse i odmarališta. Mjestom dominira župna crkva Blažene Djevice Marije od Očišćenja, s velikim zvonikom, Velom i Malom pijacom te ložom iz 1700. godine. Stara jezgra mjesta nalazi se na uzvisini u neposrednoj blizini crkve svetog Mihovila.

Plaže Beaches
ŽALu središtu Brne nalazi se mala šljunčana plaža Žal s toboganom za djecu, a blizu su restoran i trgovina.
PLAŽA HOTELA AMiNESS LuMENovouređena plaža hotela nudi različite sadržaje : školu jedrenja i surfanja, najam čamaca, sandolina i dasaka za jedrenje.Duž cijele uvale obala je niska i pristupačna pa možete uživati u suncu i moru blizu svojeg smještaja.
iSTruGAistruga je uvala blizu Brne (petnaest minuta šetnje). Duga je oko 500 m i široka oko 150 m. Do svoje polovice ima šestmetarske naslage ljekovitog mulja limana. Ljekoviti mulj liman vrsta je podvodnih peloida čiji razvojni proces traje najmanje tisuću godina. Cijelo područje okruženo je borovom šumom i mediteranskim biljem pa su šetnje tim krajem pravi užitak. Nalazi se na južnoj strani otoka Korčule. Blizu plaže nalazi se mali sportski centar, gdje možete igrati tenis, stolni tenis ili odbojku, a možete uživati i u plivanju i sunčanju. Blizu je prapovijesna spilja specifična zbog svojeg položaja u udubini visoke stijene, do koje vodi prekrasna staza.

iSTruGAistruga is a bay nearby Brna (15 min walk). it is 500 m long and 150 m wide. Half of the beach is covered with a 6 metre thick therapeutic liman mud layer. This therapeutic mud is a sort of peloid mud, the developmental process of which lasts for at least a thousand years. The whole area is surrounded by pine wood and Mediterranean plants, so hiking through this area is a real pleasure. There is a small sport centre near the beach, so one can play tennis or volleyball and also enjoy swimming and sunbathing. There is a cave in the vicinity of istruga, to which a nice walking path leads. This prehistoric cave is specific since it is positioned in a niche of a tall rock.

čara je staro selo s oko sedamsto stanovnika udaljeno 25 km od grada Korčule. Na obroncima pod čarom nalaze se veliki plodni vinogradi. Vinova loza tu raste od pamtivijeka. čara je poznata po posebnoj vrsti grožđa – pošipu. u središtu je sela župna crkva sv. Petra, a na trgu ispred crkve višestoljetni je čempres – najstarije stablo na otoku. Crkva Gospe od čarskog polja nalazi se u polju, usred vinograda. Prema legendi, 1686. godine Gospa se ukazala maloj pastirici iz obitelji Tasovac. Od tada svakog 25. srpnja čarani slave blagdan svojeg zaštitnika, svetog Jakova. Hodočašće Gospe od čarskog polja održava se svakog 25. srpnja i 8. rujna. u čavićevoj luci nalazi se kapela u kojoj se blagoslivljaju lokalni brodovi. Nekoliko kilometara sjeverno od čare nalazi se mala turistička uvala Zavalatica.Plaža Žitna smještena je u uvali oko 300 m od središta Zavalatice. More u uvali bistro je i čisto, plavih i zelenih tonova koji se prelijevaju na suncu. Morsko dno uglavnom je pješčano, a boje zaljeva jedinstvene.
čara is an old village with about 700 inhabitants. it is situated 25 km away from Korčula. Below the village there are large, fertile vineyards. Winegrape has been grown here since time immemorial. čara is known for a particular type of grape - Pošip. The parish church of St. Peter is situated in the centre of the village, with a centuries old cypress on the square in front of the church, the oldest known tree on the island.The church of Our Lady of the čara Fields stands in the field, in the middle of a vineyard. According to the legend, in 1686, Our Lady showed herself to a little shepherdess, called Tasovac. Every July 25, from that year on, the people of čara celebrate the occasion with the feast of its patron St. James. THE PiLGriMAGE TO Our LADY OF THE čArA FiELDS takes place on the 25th of July and on the 8th of September. in čavića port there is a Chapel of čavića Port, where local boats are blessed. The small tourist bay of Zavalatica is only a few kilometres south of čara. The Žitna beach is situated in the bay, about 300 m from the centre of the place. The sea water here is of blue-and-green colour, reflecting sunlight enhanced by the clarity of clean water. Žitna’s seabedis mostly sandy, whichmakes the colours of the bay so unique.

Pupnat je najmanje selo na otoku, s 280 stanovnika. Nalazi se 11 km od grada Korčule na visini većoj od 300 m, gdje je otok najuži i najbrdovitiji. Jedno je od najstarijih naselja na otoku.Malobrojno stanovništvo bavi se poljoprivredom i vinogradarstvom, čuva svoje stoljećima stare običaje i religijske tradicije te viteški ples kumpaniju sličan onome u čari, Smokvici, Blatu i Veloj Luci.u Pupnatu možete razgledati stare crkve. Od svetkovina je zanimljivo slavlje Gospe od Sniga koje se održava 5. kolovoza jer je prije mnogo godina sredinom vrućeg ljeta pao snijeg u Pupnatu.Pupnat s područjem koje ga okružuje postao je najpoželjnijim odredištem za pješake (planinare), koji s lakoćom mogu doći do Bačve, Smokove i ripna zaljeva te do prekrasne plaže Pupnatske luke.
Pupnat is the smallest village on the island with some 280 inhabitants. it is situated at an altitude of over 300 m, where the island is narrowest and the most mountainous. it is located 11 km from the town of Korčula and is one of the oldest settlements on the island. Although the population is not numerous, there are people engaged in agriculture and winemaking, and it has kept its centuries old customs and religious traditions that include the Kumpanija sword dance - similar to those of čara, Smokvica, Blato and Vela Luka.Pupnat also has old churches and celebrates the feast of Our Lady of the Snows on the 5th of August, since many years ago, in the midst of a hot summer, snow fell in Pupnat. Pupnat and its surrounding area have become a favourite destination for hikers who can easily get to the Bačva, Smokova and ripna bays, and the beautiful Pupnat bay.
Pupnat BAčVABačva je lijepa uvala sa šljunčanom plažom okruženom stijenama i borovima. Plaža je pogodna za djecu, a blizu je i špilja u moru do koje se može plivati. Do plaže se može doći automobilom ili pješice. Na plaži je restoran koji nudi isključivo domaću hranu i pića.
PuPNATSKA LuKAispod Pupnata, na južnoj strani otoka, 15 km od grada Korčule, nalazi se najljepša plaža otoka, Pupnatska luka, okružena bogatom mediteranskom vegetacijom i idealna za obitelji s djecom. Do nje vodi cesta, a na njoj je nekoliko restorana koji nude hranu i osvježavajuća pića. Obala oko plaže stjenovita je i skriva mnogo romantičnih plažica. Do plaže možete doći vlastitim prijevozom ili autobusom iz Korčule do Pupnata koji vozi nekoliko puta na dan.
BAčVA BAYThis is a beautiful bay with a pebble beach suitable for children, surrounded by pine wood and steep rocks. You can reach it by car or on foot. There is a tavern on the very beach, in which exclusively domestic food and drinks are served. in the vicinity, there is a cave to which one can swim to.
PuPNATSKA LuKABeneath Pupnat, on the southern side of the island, 15 km from the town of Korčula, the most beautiful bay of the island, Pupnatska Luka, is located. There is a road that leads to this bay. The bay is rich in Mediterranean vegetation. The pebble beach is ideal for families with children. The coast around the beach is rocky and is littered with many small, rocky romantic beaches. There are a few taverns in the bay offering food and refreshments. if you don’t have a car, there is a bus service that runs a few times a day from Korčula to Pupnat. Alternatively, you can rent a car, a scooter or a bicycle to go to Pupnatska Luka for a day trip.

uVALA VAJAuvala Vaja nalazi se kilometar sjeverno od račišća. Tu je mala plaža s bijelim šljunkom i morem azurne boje. Mjesto je slikovito i romantično, izolirano i rijetko posjećeno. Do plaže se dolazi makadamskom cestom koja vodi od luke račišće. Hodanjem uzbrdo dolazi se do litice pod kojom se skriva plaža, do koje dalje vodi puteljak. Preporučujemo da do plaže Vaja dođete morskim putem.u prošlosti je u uvali Vaja bio poznati kamenolom, a mnoge poznate zgrade u Hrvatskoj i inozemstvu građene su tim kamenom.

VAJA BAYThe beach in the Vaja bay is located about 1 km north of the village of račišće. it is a small beach with white pebbles and azure sea water. it is a picturesque and romantic place, isolated and rarely visited. Once there was a famous stone quarry here, with many well known buildings in Croatia and abroad being built of this solid stone.One can reach this beach by a tarmac road that leads from the far end of the račišće harbor. To reach this beautiful spot, one must walk up the hill and take the path down the cliff to the beach.it is recomended to approach Vaja beach by sea.

Žrnovo ima oko 1300 stanovnika i nalazi se 4 km od grada Korčule, prema središnjem dijelu otoka. Obuhvaća naselja Postranu, Kampuš, Prvo selo i Brdo te uvale Medvinjak, Žrnovsku banju, Vrbovicu, Tri žala i Oskorušicu na sjevernom dijelu otoka. PrirODNi PArK KOčJEPark je zakonom zaštićeno područje i područje ograničenog pristupa te podliježe zaštiti na najvećem stupnju, stoga se ništa ne smije dirati. Okružen je veličanstvenom prirodom, visokim stijenama i drvećem, a u posebnost su i dolomitne stijene kredne formacije. Obuhvaća stoljetnu šumu poznatu po Vilinom koritu, koje se nalazi pod velikom stijenom na početku parka.

KOčJE NATurE rESErVESurrounded with beautiful scenery, high cliffs and trees. Kočje is an area protected by law, is subject to the highest levels of protection, and an area of limited approach, therefore nothing can be touched. Here one can see massive rocks of cretaceous formation, composed of chains of rocks of unusual shape and mysterious caves. The centuries old forest is a beautiful area which is also famous for ‘Vilino korito’, located under a big cliff face at the beginning of the reserve.

Grad Korčula jedan je od najbolje očuvanih srednjovjekovnih gradova Sredozemlja i tradicionalno turističko i kulturno središte otoka Korčule. Nalazi se na sjeveroistočnom kraju otoka. Sastoji se od staroga grada s predgrađem ispred gradskih zidova i novih dijelova uz obalu. Stari grad nalazi se na malom poluotoku. Na tom području živi oko 3400 stanovnika.u starom gradu glavna ulica širi se kroz središte te razdvaja istočni i zapadni dio grada. Struktura podsjeća na riblju kost. ulice su postavljene tako da lagani vjetar s mora uvijek struji kroz grad. Ljeti puše osvježavajući povjetarac sa zapada, a zimski vjetrovi sa sjeveroistoka zaustavljeni su.Grad Korčula bio je okružen velikim zidinama i kulama sa svih strana. Te su zidine podignute u 13., 14. i 15. stoljeću. Do danas su sačuvani dio južnog obrambenog zida i osam kula.
Korčula je poznata po moreški, viteškom plesu u kojem se bijeli i crni kralj, Osman i Moro, bore za djevojčinu ljubav. redoviti nastupi održavaju se od svibnja do sredine listopada, svaki četvrtak u 21 sat.Korčula je rodno mjesto Marka Pola, venecijanskog trgovca poznatog po bilješkama s putovanja Kinom. The town of Korčula is one of the best preserved medieval towns in the Mediterranean, and is traditionally the tourist and cultural centre of the island. Today it has about 3.400 inhabitants. Located at the North-Eastern end of the island, it consists of the old town with suburbs in front of the city walls, and new parts by the coast. The old town is located on a small peninsula. in the old part of the town of Korčula, the main street spreads through the middle of the town, separating the eastern and western part of town. The structure reminds of a fishbone. The streets are set so a light sea breeze always passes through the town. During the summer there is an easy refreshing breeze from the west, while cold winter winds from the northeast are prevented from blowing through the town. The town of Korčula was surrounded by high walls and towers, both from the land and from the sea, raised in the 13th, 14th and 15th centuries. A part of the south defensive wall, and eight towers have been preserved. Korčula is known for Moreška
– a sword dance in which a white and black king, Osman and Moro, struggle for a girl’s love. rEGuLAr PErFOrMANCES OF THE MOrEŠKA SWOrD DANCES STArT in MAY, ON THurSDAYS AT 9 P.M. and last until the MiD OCTOBEr. Korčula is the birth place of Marco Polo – a Venetian trader famous for the records of his journey to China. OTOK BADiJAizmeđu Korčule i Lumbarde nalazi se otočić Badija. Povezan je s Korčulom redovitom brodskom linijom, a bord vozi svakih deset minuta. Otočić je bogat prirodnim i kulturnim ljepotama. Na njemu se nalaze franjevački samostan izgrađen u 14. stoljeću i crkva Gospe Milosrdne. u manje od 45 minuta možete ga obići puteljkom uz more. Na otočiću ćete pronaći i šljunčane i stjenovite plaže, restoran i kafić. Otočić je omiljeno izletište.
uVALA LuKAuvala Luka jest uvala s pješčanom plažom do koje se u petnaestak minuta ugodne šetnje dolazi od starog grada Korčule ili kratkom vožnjom taksi-čamcem iz korčulanske luke. Plaža je pogodna za obitelji s djecom, koja će se moći satima zabavljati u plićaku. Blizu je nekoliko kafića s osvježavajućim pićima.
PLAŽA BANJEBanje su gradska plaža u središtu Korčule, blizu hotela Marko Polo i gradskog vaterpolo kluba ,,KPK”. Ta popularna šljunčana plaža ljeti je vrlo posjećena. Blizu nje nalazi se nekoliko kafića i restorana, tako da se možete osvježiti bez potrebe da se ponovo odijevate. Pogodna je za djecu.
GrADSKA PLAŽAGradska plaža nalazi se oko 200 m od grada Korčule prema hotelu Liburna, hotelu Park i hotelu Marko Polo. Blizu šljunčane plaže nalazi se nekoliko kafića.Blizu je i plaža hotela Park na kojoj možete iznajmiti čamac ili dasku za jedrenje.
OTOčiĆ PLANJAKSmješten je 120 m istočno od Badije. Do njega se dolazi vlastitim ili iznajmljenim čamcem. Na njemu se nalazi šljunčana plaža, a možete uživati u čistom i bistrom moru i sunčati se na ravnim, glatkim stijenama.
SVETi NiKOLAriječ je o lijepome malome mjestu pogodnom za kupanje, a Korčulani ga zovu ,,Mandrač”. Nalazi se odmah do crkve i samostana svetog Nikole, oko pet minuta hoda od starog grada Korčule. Obuhvaća nekoliko malih plaža sa šljunkom koje su idealne za malu djecu. Ostali dio plaže stjenovit je, a more je kristalno čisto.

SLAND OF BADiJAThe island of Badija is situated between the towns of Korčula and Lumbarda. it is connected with Korčula by a regular boat line that departs from the east dock, with a travelling time of 10 minutes. The island is filled with rich natural and cultural beauty. in less than 45 minutes, you can walk through the whole island. it has both rocky and pebble beaches and is therefore a popular place for day trips. The island is famous for its Franciscan monastery, built in the 14th century, and the church of our Virgin of Mercy.There is also a tavern and a café.
CiTY BEACHThis pebble beach is situated about 200 metres from the city of Korčula, towards the Liburna Hotel, Park Hotel and Marco Polo Hotel. it has several cafés in its vicinity. You can rent a boat and surfing boards on the nearby beach of the Park Hotel.
BANJE Banje is a town beach right in the centre of Korčula, close to the Hotel Marco Polo and the local swimming and water polo club ‘KPK’. This popular pebble beach is very busy in the summer time, crowded with tourists and locals. There are a few cafes and restaurants close by, so one can have some refreshment without needing to get fully dressed again. it is suitable for children.
STuPEStupe is another islet of the Korčula archipelago. Here you can find a nice little tavern run by a local family who cook fantastic food and serve cold wine and beer. There is also a small pebble beach with shade, suitable for children.
PLANJAKThe island of Planjak is situated 120 metres east of Badija. You can reach this island by a private or rented boat. You can enjoy a clean and clear sea on this island,, and there are also many flat rocks suitable for sunbathing, as well as pebble beaches.
THE LuKA BAY A bay with a sandy beach which you can reach within 15 minutes of a pleasant walk from the Korčula Old Town, or with a short taxi - boat ride from the main Korčula harbor. The beach is suitable for families with children. Who can spend hours playing and paddling in the shallow waters. There are a couple of cafes nearby.
SVETi NiKOLAThis little swimming spot, locally called ‘Mandrač’, is located right next to the church and monastery of Saint Nikola, and is about a 5 minute walk from the Old Town. There are a couple of tiny beaches with pebbles - ideal for small children, while the rest of the area is rocky with crystal clear water.

VELA PrŽiNAVela pržina najveća je pješčana plaža na otoku Korčuli. Nalazi se u velikom zaljevu na južnoj strani Lumbarde, otvorena je prema moru i zaštićena od sjevernog vjetra, s pogledom na otok Lastovo.Popularna je i dobro posjećena tijekom ljeta, a u sklopu nje nalazi se kafić/restoran na otvorenome koji nudi jednostavna jela i osvježavajuća pića. BiLiN ŽALPješčana plaža Bilin žal nalazi se na sjevernoj strani Lumbarde. Jedna je od omiljenih plaža lokalnih stanovnika. Dio plaže asfaltiran je i pogodan za šetnju i sunčanje.More je kristalno čisto, a ronjenje u bogatom podmorju oko obale pravi je užitak. S plaže možete vidjeti poluotok Pelješac i Korčulansko otočje. u zgradi izgrađenoj u tradicionalnom dalmatinskom stilu nalazi se mali kafić/restoran u kojem možete naručiti morske specijalitete (salatu, pečenu ribu…). uVALA TATiNJAPješčana plaža Tatinja nalazi se na sjevernoj strani Lumbarde, oko 300 m od središta, a s nje se pruža prekrasan pogled na Korčulansko otočje, poluotok Pelješac i grad Orebić. Blizu plaže su restorani, picerije i kafići.
PLAŽA LENGA BrENDANALenga Brendana idealno je mjesto za sve koji uživaju u „divljim“ i izoliranim plažama. Duga je kilometar, a prostire se od plaže Bilin žala do kraja istočnog dijela otoka, rta ražnjić. More je iznimno čisto, a podmorje idealno za ronjenje. Blizu plaže nalazi se gusta borova šuma. Mnogo je izoliranih mjesta na kojima možete ostaviti svoje stvari i uživati u netaknutoj prirodi. Možete do nje doći automobilom, koji možete parkirati u šumi.

VELA PrŽiNAVela Pržina is the biggest natural sandy beach on the island of Korčula. it is situated in a large bay on the southern side of Lumbarda, which is opened to the sea and protected from the Northern winds, and overlooks the island of Lastovo.This beach is very popular and well visited during the summer. There is an open-air cafe/restaurant on the beach offering simple dishes and refreshments. You can also rent parasols and deck chairs there. The beach is suitable for all ages, it is ideal for families with children. You can also play beach volleyball on the courts above the beach, or in the sea.
BiLiN ŽALThe sandy beach Bilin Žal is located on the Northern side of Lumbarda. This is the local’s favorite beach. One part of the beach is paved and pleasant for walking and sunbathing. The sea is crystal clear, so diving around the coast of the beach is a real pleasure. You can see the Pelješac peninsula and the islands of the Korčula archipelago from this beach. There is a small cafe and a restaurant situated in a building that was built in traditional Dalmatian style. There you can order sea specialties (salads, grilled fish...). The beach is suitable for all ages, couples, singles or families with children. Near the beach there is a parking lot. You can freely play volleyball on the sand of the beach.
TATiNJA BAY The sandy beach Tatinja is situated on the Northern side of Lumbarda, about 300 m from the centre. it offers a beautiful view of the Korčula archipelago, the Pelješac peninsula and of the city of Orebić. Near the beach there are restaurants, pizzerias and cafes.
LENGA BrENDANA BEACHLenga Brendana is an ideal place for those who enjoy ‘wild’ and isolated beaches. The beach is 1 km long; it spreads from Bilin žal beach to the end of the Eastern part of the island, Cape ražnjić. The sea is exceptionally clean, while the offshore area is ideal for diving. Near the beach there is a dense pine wood. There are many isolated places on which you can leave your belongings and enjoy the untouched nature. You can reach the beach by car, which you can park in the woods.

rEGATA SVETOG iVANA u VELOJ LuCiTaj poseban događaj održava se na dan svetog ivana, 24. lipnja. riječ je o veslačkoj regati od uvale Gradine do Vele Luke. Brodice, barke i brodovi prema običaju su okićeni cvijećem i trobojnicama, a cijeli događaj popraćen je harmonikom i pjesmom.Brodice koje se natječu praćene su drugim brodicama s kojih se čuju pjesma i navijanje.Najprije se održava sveta misa u srednjovjekovnoj crkvici sv. ivana od Gradine. Nakon mise slijedi blagoslov trava (lavande i ružmarina) i brodica, a zatim počinje regata. Nakon proglašenja pobjednika održava se zajedničko slavlje na rivi, kao da su baš svi pobjednici.
BiTKA NA Giči u BLATuScenski prikaz bitke na Giči vratit će vas u prošlost poput vremeplova, zabaviti vas i nasmijati. Bitka se odigrala 1571. na Giči, predjelu iznad Blata. Dogodilo se sljedeće: u Blato su ušli turski osvajači i zarobili žene i djecu. Blatski muškarci organizirani su kumpanjiju, narodnu vojsku, dostigli ih na Giči, oslobodili
svoje sumještane i savladali neprijatelje. rekonstrukcija se održava u večernjim satima ispred glavne crkve, a u njoj sudjeluju članovi Kumpanjije i blatski glumci amateri.
DANi POŠiPA u SMOKViCi i čAriSvakog ljeta krajem srpnja i početkom kolovoza održavaju se Dani otvorenih vrata vinskih podruma, u sklopu kojih možete razgledati vinske podrume Smokvice i čare te degustirati vina, a zadnjeg dana događaja održava se Fešta vina u Brni, na maloj rivi, uz degustaciju vina, gastronomske specijalitete i dalmatinsku pjesmu.

ST. JOHN’S rEGATTA iN VELA LuKAThis special event is held on St. John’s Day, June 24th. it is a paddle-boat regatta. The event starts with a mass in the Medieval church of St. John of Gradina, after which the blessing of herbs (lavender and rosemary) and boats takes place, and finallythe regatta starts. Locals follow competitors with their boats and support them by cheering and singing. Traditionally, all boats are decorated with flowers and flags. Once the winner has been announced, all the competitors celebrate together.
THE BATTLE OF GičA iN BLATOThe theatrical production of the Battle of Giča will take you back in time like a time machine, entertain you and delight you. The Battle of Giča took place in 1571 on Giča, a site above Blato. This is what happened: Turkish conquerors came and captured women and children. The men from Blato, organized a Kumpanija, the national guard, caught them on Giča, liberated the prisoners and defeated the enemy. The re-enactment takes place in the evening hours in front of the parish church.

DAN 6- posjetite otok Proizd, oazu netaknute prirode i kristalno čistog mora. Opremite se kremom za sunčanje, stavite šešir, u ruksak spremite vodu i voće i spremni ste za cjelodnevni doživljaj. uputite se kroz borovu šumu i pratite putokaze koji će vas dovesti do neke od prekrasnih plaža. Preporučujemo plažu Bili Boci. Većina plaža nema zaklon od sunca, zato se obvezno često mažite kremom sa zaštitnim faktorom. Možete ručati u restoranu i isprobati tradicionalnu igru „balote“ na igralištu iza restorana.
DAN 7- jutarnje piće ili kava u jednom od kafića u Veloj Luci- iznajmite čamac i sami krenite u potragu za nekim lijepim mjestom, ili možete ići brodom do otočića Ošjaka- ako volite šetati, prošećite do hotela Posejdon. iza hotela nalazi se krasna šetnica uz more. ispred male kapelice na koju ćete naići pronaći ćete zanimljive mozaike.- ručajte u Veloj Luci- posjetite Centar za kulturu. raspitajte se o Veloj spili i mozaicima.- prošećite Velom Lukom u potrazi za mozaicima- posjetite Velu spilu

- Go to the istruga bay, rich in therapeutic liman mud. You can rent a boat in Brna, and explore the coast and the nearby islands all by yourselves. - Have lunch in one of the restaurants in Brna or Smokvica. - Cycle or take a walk to Pinćaluša – a place where the first grapevine of the Pošip cultivar was discovered, find at least one toreta, visit the Gradina – one of the three most famous fortresses on Korčula, as well as achurch and a loggia that date from the year 1.700.- Make sure to visit one of the wine cellars in which you will enjoy the best wines, experience the tradition of winemakingand viniculture, and the island way of life.
DAY 6- Visit the island of Proizd, an oasis of untouched nature and crystal clear seas. Take sun cream, put on a hat, pack some water and fruit in your backpack, and you are ready for a special whole-day experience. There are several walking paths leading through the dense pine-wood to the beautiful beaches. We recommend Bili Boci beach. Most of the beaches do not have shelter from the sun, so make sure you apply sun cream regularly. You can have lunch in a restaurant and also try to play the traditional game ‘balote’ on a field behind the restaurant.
DAY 7 - Enjoy a morning drink or coffee in one of the cafés in Vela Luka. - rent a boat and set off on an expedition of your own, searching for a nice place to relax, or take a taxi-boat to the island of Ošjak. - if you are the walking type, take a walk to the Posejdon hotel. Behind the hotel there is a nice walking path following the coastline. You can see interesting mosaics in front of the little chapel which you will come upon very soon.
- Have lunch in Vela Luka. Visit the Centre for Culture. Enquire about the Vela Spila and the mosaics.
- Walk around Vela Luka in search for the mosaics. - Visit the Vela Spila. Take a walk and enjoy a visit toof the bell tower, the church and the treasury.
