• I earned my undergraduate degree at Montana State University.

• I have been teaching in Davis District for 11 years.

• I am working on my graduate degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

Homework

• Minimum of 20 minutes of reading.• Practice math facts.• Practice spelling or word work.• Math and word work will earn class money to spend in

our store.• Occasionally, a worksheet or project may be assigned.

Reading

• Students may read whatever they wish.• Check reading off on the Homework Tracker.

– Allow students to figure out words on their own.– Have them use the reading strategies.– Have them give you a retell or summary– Talk about the characters.– Talk about the plot.– Encourage them to ask questions. – Model how to monitor reading and understanding.

Attendance

• By law, students are required to have a 93% attendance rate – no more than 6 days in a term.

• Students miss valuable experiences that may not be recreated.

• Students may fall behind.• Any work missed will be sent home.• Work may be another assignment that covers similar

goals.• Students should be on time – 3 tardies equals an

absence in our records.

Grading

• Rubric 1-3• A 3 shows that a student demonstrates mastery of the

skills and concepts.• A 2 shows that a student is making progress toward the

skills and concepts.• A 1 shows that a student is struggling to make progress

toward the skills and concepts.• The numbers represent progress to the end goal.

Breakfast and Lunch

• Breakfast– Four items will be offered at breakfast.– Students must take 3 of the 4 items if they choose to eat

breakfast.

• Lunch– Students eating school lunch must take 1 cup of fruit or

vegetable.– Students must choose from 3 of the 5 main food groups (fruit,

vegetable, carbs, protein, dairy).

Coming and Going

• Students can come in the gate at 8:35 to line up.• Students will be dismissed by the teacher. Have siblings

and friends meet outside.

• If you need to come to the school during the day:– Drive to the front– Check the gate schedule

Important Information

• Toys are not allowed in school. I will keep them at my desk until the end of the day.

• Birthdays are celebrated in “Appreciation Circle.” Parents can send treats.

• If you need to send money to school, please put it in an envelope and label it with your child’s name, teacher name, and what the money if for.

• Please help us keep emergency information current.• When you visit the school, please check in at the office

and get a visitor sticker.
