parishioners that would like to join in singing.
CALLING ALL MEN, WOMEN, AND CHILDREN!
On Saturday, April 13th, we will be doing our annual “Spring-Cleaning” of the church. What better way to prepare for the Lord’s
Resurrection than by deep-cleaning our place of worship, much like
we ourselves are trying to do during our own Lenten preparations!
All are welcomed and encouraged to help with this large, but nec-
essary project. Some of the “deep-cleaning” will include sweeping,
wiping down pews, fixing kneelers, dusting wooden fixtures and stat-
ues (some can be reached by ladder only), changing out light bulbs,
and much more. With more people in attendance, more will be accom-plished! If you have been looking for a Lenten project that will involve
your spouse or young ones, this can definitely be added to your list.
Anyone that is available to help is invited to attend Mass at 7:30am on Saturday, April 13th with cleaning following directly afterwards.
Please bring cleaning supplies along with you if you plan to attend.

The Musings of Our Pastor
"Peanut Brother" was the eye-catching headline imposed on a picture of reli-gious brothers and seminarians from the Benedictine Archabbey of St. Meinrad (Southwest Indiana), who were working together in the kitchen to create another special batch of homemade peanut butter bearing the one-of-a-kind name of "Peanut Brother". In a publication from the Archabbey entitled On the Hill (January, 2019), a brief article celebrated a new community-building, money raising initiative of making and marketing "Peanut Brother", which is available through the Archabbey Gift Shop. I am real "nutty" about peanut butter and I have consumed "tons" of it on bread, bananas, apples, chicken, and by the spoonful ever since my more youthful days, when a peanut butter and jelly sand-wich was such a delight after a big day at school! Quite impulsively, I placed a call to the Gift Shop and ordered 6 (1 pound) jars of the special "Peanut Brother", including 3 with honey. Honestly, at nearly $8.00 a jar, it cost me a small fortune, but the money does give practical financial support to the monastic life and work of the Benedictine Monks, so I really don't mind. More specifically, I would call this a "good investment" on my part. Immersed deeply now is the Season of Lent, we would do well to think about other types of "good investments", which can contribute to our spiritual and moral health in some valuable ways over time. The Church strongly encourages each of us to make "good investments" of time, energy and personal resources. These good investments could be placed into prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, the three pillars of the Lenten Season. Prayer, as we all well know, is a "good investment" because it keeps us more closely and more suitably connected with the Lord God amidst all the demands of earthly life. Such "good investments" in prayer can energize our lives with God's divine wisdom, love, strength, peace, hope, and pru-dent-judgment, especially when various things seem to give us a divided heart compromising our right-relationship with God. "Good investments" in fasting give us the spiritual and moral capital (resources) we most need to harness or to put controls on the pleasure appetites (eating, drink, sex, etc.), so that sinful excess or disordered and deviant types of behavior do not compromise our own well-being or the dignity and well-being of others. The pillar of almsgiving reminds us of the priorities of Jesus Himself, who made so many "good investments" in eve-ryday situations. He eased the burdens or sufferings of others with compassion, with humble service, with generosity, with sacrificial love, and with a commitment to principles of justice and fairness, especially for the sake of the poor and op-pressed. Those haunting words in Matthew's Gospel come to mind: "Whatever you did for one of these least ones, you did for me. Whatever you neglected to do for one of the least ones, you failed to do for me. The "just" will go off to Eternal Life, while the "unjust" will go off to eternal punishment." Before Lent gets away from us, let's make some "good investments" in the practices of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, which can help us achieve real growth and newness of life in Christ. How to Submit Mass Intentions If you have a friend or loved one who is living or deceased, or if you have a special intention for which you’d like to have a Mass said, please consider submitting a Mass Inten-tion. Mass intentions can be dropped into the weekend collection basket via an envelope marked “Mass Inten-tions”. When requesting an inten-tion for a specific person or special need, please include a note within the envelope, specifying for whom/what the intention is being request-ed, include any particular dates that may be important for the intention (i.e. anniversaries, birthdays, or death dates), a name/phone number for contact, and also a payment of $10 for each separate intention.
