What’s life like in a reception class?
The doors open at 8.50amand the day starts
• For the first 2 weeks your child will attend school part time to enable us to really settle them in and get to know them.
• By week 3 they will be ready to come into school. You need to bring your child to the reception door.
• Please feel free to come into the cloakroom with your child. This will give you the opportunity to talk to us if you need to either at the beginning or end of the day.
The children go home at 3.20pm
Register
Children need to be in school by 9.00am. If your child is absent please try to ring the school office to let us know.Children self register to encourage them to learn to read their names and let us know how they are feeling.We check who is having a school lunch.

Learning activities
Once the children are settled they will take part in small group activities .
Then they will be able to demonstrate the skills they have learnt through independent play.

When we have assessed your child’s needs we will send home a writing target which will indicate how you can support them at home.

Snack in our self service snack area costs £1.50 per week and we provide toast, garlic bread, houmus
homemade flapjacks, soup, porridge, pancakes, fruit salads etc. The children help to prepare the food. Please let us know if your child has any allergies.

The children have many opportunities for active play in our outdoor area. We begin more structured PE sessions after Christmas.
LunchtimeChildren can have a school lunch or a packed lunch. It is up to you. They are supported by the lunchtime supervisors during the lunch hour.
School TripsSchool trips provide very valuable learning experiences for the children and give them the opportunity to explore the world around them.We use the resources we have nearby in Ainsdale village to teach the children about their local community. We also plan trips further afield.

Wrap Around CareThe Before School Club provides care for your child from 8.00am in the morning until the start of the school day.The After School Club provides care for your child from the end of the school day until 5.45 pm.Please contact the school office for further information
